1. some nice gear there, but the notts one was better! (haha, i joke). What's that little amp though next to the bongo? Looks like an eden or something...
2. So i took advantage of the good weather and the fact that i had all my instruments together for once and took a couple of group shots, here's the better one. (Excuse the gu*tar ) All i REALLY need there. (though a strat would be nice), one working bass at my dad's, one working bass at my mum's, a guitar, and a project
3.
Amazingly, considering it was a small meeting, there were TWO jetglo ric 4003's. Mine was the one with the PU cover removed, the one with PU cover still in place was GazM's. Mine just seemed to do the rounds a bit more. I had a quick go on Gaz's and they are pretty much indistinguishable but I realised why I had the PU cover off mine within a week of buying it!
I don't think i played yours, but i can see what you mean, Gazm's was really hard to play for me because i like to play over the bridge pickup.
Hi guys, what a great afternoon. Really enjoyed playing some delicious basses. Loved the Ricky, but for me it's either the $$ or the Stingray. Both played beautifully and sounded fantastic. Loved the 7 string to look at, but I find 4 hard enough to cope with. Glad I went though. Looking forward to the next one. Maybe without the stairs and the vicious doors, eh?
Thanks mate, your precision was stunning in person! Really stunning combination, wish i'd played it!
4.
Not going to screw up intonation then?
I'm not sure, mine seemed to intonate fairly easily, and it was a couple of mm back in the neck pocket because the end of the neck doesn't sit perfectly in the pocket. It was only a cheap project, so i wasn't too concerned, if there is a slight difference, i doubt it will be too noticable.
5. The OLP neck i put on my musicman didn't line up properly either, i think one hole kind of lined up and none of the rest did. I stuffed that one hole with matchsticks (no glue) and redrilled, i also drilled 5 more holes in it and it's strong as anything. I've gigged it too nowt wrong with drilling extra holes!
6.
NME's a bit like Radio 1 - you're sposed to find it annoying when you get over 30.
I find both annoying now, and i'm 18. They (and kerrang) are as fake as michael jackson's nose, and i wouldn't piss on anyone that works for them if they were on fire (except fearne cotton, she's pretty hot)
7.
It's a Wood & Tronics for me - loved playing that...
Yeah, that thing was stunning in so many ways
8.
I think the star of the show had to be that blue effects unit (BigRedX's) - everyone literally stopped what they were doing once that drum beat kicked in!
Hah, yeah, that thing was cool! Also, like you said, someone should have brought a guitar, could have had a bit of a jam out!
9. pictures! Closeup of simon's bass because it's gorgeous Sorry for the horrible quality
10. ARGH! *tears hair out* Possibly one of the nicest basses ever?
11. Thanks for coming everyone! It was pretty cool meeting some of you guys and trying your basses! And don't worry about it steve, i took enough money to cover the room and then some (the rest will go to a musical charity anyway). Oh and cheers for the pint Gazm I'll upload my photos shortly
12.
i wouldnt mind having £1400 worth of mutron pedals
wow....
13. haha nice, are these things rare/expensive?
14.
I'll be in Mrs1964's people carrier, and will have room for a couple of people plus some gear. Happy to pick one or two up from the station (Sam, I'll be coming through Hucknall if you want to avoid the tram?)
I think i'll be having to go down an hour or so earlier so i can get my SUB from my mum's house, and i may be getting a lift off my dad, thanks for the offer though The $$ shall be there regardless though!
15. yep! Probably should have mentioned that it's upstairs though...
16. yep, there's a car park outside the pub
17. So i just got off the phone with the manager of the grosvenor, she wanted £5 a head for food, and since i have no guarantee of numbers, i thought i'd better not risk it, sorry guys! She also scared me, said she had booked it for someone else, but i don't think she realised we only wanted it for the daytime, long story short, it's still on!
18. reminds me of tobias, looks bloody nice, though some bigger pics would help you immensely, good luck with the sale
19. like i say, if you can't get a lift, i'll probably be around there anyway, message me if you want my number and i'll get you there.
20. wow, that's gorgeous!!
21.
Hmmmm, so what distinguishes these souped up Fender clones from all the others out there (including our very own, beloved Shuker of course)?
+1, i checked out their site a while ago, and the prices seemed outrageous for what is basically a fender precision/jazz. I'd rather have an american fender, and that's something i never thought i'd say!
22. Don't worry about it! you better come to the next one though Also i'll give the grosvenor tomorrow
23. I'd say get some sort of recorder, like if you have a laptop with cubase on it or something or some other HDR or tape based recorder (a DAT or ADAT or something) hooked up to the line out of the mixing desk. You may want to use a couple of overhead mics on the drum kit though to capture the snare, toms, cymbals etc. It would probably result in a better quality recording than a zoom H4, though i haven't tried one, so i couldn't say. Behringer sell cheap matched condenser pairs you could use for overheards, but keep them about 2 or 3ft above the kit so you don't kill them.
24. ahh cool, i was thinking this today as well.... might look at getting a logitech one...
25. I'll see what i can do, though i don't want to get too much and have nobody eat it...
