GAK are pretty awful in my experience. They won't tell you when something is out of stock, so i've ended up waiting 3 or 4 months for stuff before so they could order it from the manufacturer, same thing happened to a friend of mine about 3 times with different guitar cabs. I think he ended up going on ebay. Pix of the thumb though
Sorry - that's a trials bike frame Here's what you're after http://www.sterlingbymusicman.com ..and I believe the seller's got it right - the Stingray copy is the Ray 34 - the Sterling copy's the SB14. There must be some sort of a prize for naming a product the "Sterling by Musicman Ray 34" and Sterling by Ernie has just won it. FFS, he's already got a bass named after him, now it's a whole range of Korean tributes.
oops! yeah, that's what i meant to link to! Bit of an insight into my watched items there, haha

that last one looks pretty cool

Sting Signature and other 50's Precisions

how do you get a string stuck under the pickup? can you take some pix of the pickup for me just out of interest? -
That's most certainly not a real MM! Pretty sure they have mm electronics and pups, but it's definitely one of their new outsourced lines, 100%. The logo on the headstock and neck plate is a dead giveaway. Although i don't think the seller was trying to fool anyone, just didn't provide a great description of the company, i can see why it may confuse some people. Don't get me wrong though, they're meant to be good. That would be the new "sterling my musicman" line. It's not a USA musicman, it's their new line that's been outsourced to korea or something. Basically the replacement for OLP but more on par with the SUB basses. Apparently they're meant to be very nice basses, but i wouldn't pay that much for something made in korea. Also that's the stingray model

yeah, looks like someone's (VERY badly) reshaped the top half of their ibanez SR or GSR more likely.

NICE SETUP!!!! NOM NOM NOM

sweet, some really nice contouring going on there!
-
nice, can't wait to see it together! To be fair, it's been a really quick build!

fair enough! well it's good to know your warmoth is still the favourite dangerous game though! if you find something better than your warmoth, what will you do?

Fender Jazz 1973 Vintage - stunning condition
budget bassist replied to Lysdexia's topic in Basses For Sale
What ever your opinion of mojo'd/refin etc its obviously not a stupid thing to say - facts are facts and furthermore there would be no market for closet classics, roadworn etc basses if there were not a demand for older basses to look, well, old
Ah well, i've just never seen the point really! You wouldn't pay more for a rustbucket MGB than you would a nice shiny one! And i didn't mean that to sound how it did, i just don't get how people can guage prices for these things like that -
Yes. Unfortunately - refinishing a vintage guitar/bass halves its market value. That's the law of the vintage guitar jungle. No matter how good the re-finish (& wow - that is a lovely looking re-finish!) that's what happens to its market value. That may not seem to make any sense - but that's the way it is. :|
That's a stupid thing to say, really. I don't have much experience in the vintage bass market (really i think it's a load of tosh), but surely it's worth whatever someone will pay for it. Why a beaten up old aria might be worth £50 and a beaten up old fender might be worth £3-4k makes no sense to me, i'd rather have a quality refin than something with half it's paint gone and covered in somebody else's sweat. But what do i know? I just buy a bass for how it plays and sounds
