Any forum needs turnover and lots of visitors Not knocking this one but I use a 10th of it if that, a look at whats for sale and whats wanted and an occasional look at general stuff Whats your favourite strap ? etc isn't for me .I use a local footy forum which has non footy section and is showing 1,111 people online now ! That means fast turnover of topics and posts and regular visitors .

From Sunderland and gig from Morpeth to redcar Facebook North east bass bin is good for crack and the occasional "bass player needed" or "dep needed" .I "LIKE" most of the pubs facebook pages who do bands so you get their stuff coming up ,last minute gigs ,cancellations etc .Lets talk music NE is another fb page ..I don't think there's one place that does it all up here .Riffs online has a canny ,musicians wanted section .The gig listing will also show you which pubs do regular gigs .We've been around for years and luckily pick repeat stuff up no problem.Starting out is probably harder

Never been my main job,always a paid hobby .Had 10 years plus gaps with no bands or gigs but always picked a bass up . Some of it is a chore but the good parts far outweigh

Some bands just want to do all the pre gig stuff forever.I've no interest .When I've looked for bands if they aren't gigging I give them a miss . we get together if a dep singer is coming in or a new song added ,one rehearsal,thats it

I Mean a cheaper product can be achieved by making It somewhere where costs are cheaper .Wages are a one of the biggest costs in a business I read your post as two factories ,same raw materials ,same standard of staff but asking a premium price for product from one of them i'm no Fender insider but i'd say they are differences in some of the items used for the two build procedures and possibly some streamlining on production that you could call quality control as a rule I think you get what you pay for as far as staff and wages go

I had one the high end mim 70s reissue p bass's they brought out about 7 years ago The jack plug was duff and it had an earth buzz ,both replaced locally .Still love Fenders .Love the silver vintera jazz .

There's a limit I suppose to how much you can discuss in all things bass ive just checked my regular football fan forum and there's 1406 people on line and that's a quiet spell Forums rely on input and stuff turning over fast to warrant revisiting

Sounds like me ,its a 3 piece band with a singer so I cant be doing the popular clean mid type sound ,I need bottom end with a bit cut .I see some people's backline only set up and think that would be no good for me

I ditched heavy peavey stuff for the Quilter with two ampeg portaflex cabs we do classic rock stuff .Very pleased

Just to add a bit to this scenario I have to be 300 gigs in (at least) and have had the usual mishaps.Amps ,strings etc This has never happened though Did a first half set on Saturday ,Zep and ac/dc covers ,blew the room away. Started the second set and the singer (new guy,couple of months in) got up and was absolutely off his face (drink drugs ??) we lasted 2 songs and ground to a halt you never know what's coming next

Normal mate even 100 gigs in ,that's where the rehearsing pays off . I Make bits of errors every gig but you tend to spot immediately and the memory saves you.What sorts me is a nice easy opening song to ease you in .If your band has a tough one change it if you can

Its a car crash of a programme but I've found some canny bands down the years ,how jools doesn't improve interviewing people after all this time takes some skill

Other way,i'm the dep and they are a different band with me in .The main man is basic and sounds like a Subaru's sub woofer at the end of your street .Its only classic rock stuff but its all over ,as in the guitar plays off the drummer and singer and the bass is just nowhere in the pecking order . The band know it but I don't want the full time job and to be fair loads of punters don't seem to notice

Doesn't sound like you notice the differences in Tool that clearly some do ,like i'm crap on Picasso .My point is more of the same in Tools case is still a very high bar

Correct ,its another Tool album .No one wanted anything else .Picasso painted similar things time after time but he wasn't Rolf Harris

All the ones that are suitable for gigs ie decent strings ,no buzzes or crackles etc I will rotate .Love the look and feel of some bass's but they can'y match the sound of my go to's

I think they're a band for certain situations .Some of my all time favorite albums were listened to after night clubs in my flat with friends in the early hours .I know longer do those hours so I no longer listen to that music.It is still amazing ,its just not me anymore .Tool's best stuff is the long slow burns but again I rarely have the opportunity to listen to them properly . The mad thrashers still do the biz in my car etc

Average interest in music growing up Enjoyed the Ogwt NYE shows as a teen ,loved seeing the live dynamic Punk landed and it was like a shot straight in the veins Saw the Stranglers on totp, JJ, the look ,the attitude ,the SOUND !! Bought a kay bass and started teaching myself
