  1. Just catchin up now after 3 gigs myself over weekend First aid kit brilliant Skunk Anansie also , great band , top draw performance Some good random bands but a lot of quirky tunes that don't always land in big spaces like this
  2. Hi,i notice this is from 2021,i'm wondering if any change on the Trades situation ? Any better images ? Thanks
  3. Yeah,i get that a bit ,not so much "copy" but like i couldnt afford a Fender To be fair they aren't a big name out there to the average gig pundit . Your band mates and soundman like them though
  4. I find it more the other way ,anti Fender stuff .On the topic in general i find it more on pages like this than in real life I'm on the rickenbacker, spector, sadowksy facebook pages and they are just so fixed in their view nothing but that brand etc At pub gigs i know how i sound etc so if people were to say why this and why that or you need this i'd just politely ignore them All basses have their faults ,i just like to work with them ,part of the fun
  5. First decent bass was a 75 jazz and had it 20 odd years , had the odd P but found them a bit limiting Bought a brand new mex one in lock down and it's plays a dream with a tonepot that works I play all over the area from thumb over the neck to digging in at the bridge so miss the jazz back pick up for some songs .
  6. Anyone get to the shows ? Saw him last night ,a ticket I bought in 2018 Great seats 5 rows back Rhonda Smith on bass Jeff was just stunning ,the sounds he gets has no bounds As expected tight and polished Then the weird Jonny Depp show He's not too bad but I didn't want to see him ,yeah do secret gig in a London pub or whatever but ... Then they did a Killing joke song I love ! Just odd Got to say Rhonda's sound was just awful A case of lots of moving fingers producing a sort of bottom end rumble Aguilar rig ,custom bass with too many knobs When she did a solo and dug in it sounded like playing active thru a 10w practice amp Shame and it didn't spoil anything because it was anonymous
  7. Bought a mij metro 2006 about 8 years ago That first gig even girlfriends of the band commented in sound check I have fenders ,spectors ,ricks etc I had a USA geddy jazz Non of them match the sound and tone ,I never play active It just has this solid punch and cut and warmness all together from G to A ,up and down No quiet spots where everyone just hears your English string It's heavy mind ,not all are ,that solid body gives it the kick I feel
  8. Really enjoyed my recent gig stint and used it to chop and change just for the fun of it The band plays classic rock and I keep things simple ,into a radial bassbone then desk / rig Very occasional octaver A basic non tech view of what I've observed Main bass will always be Sadowsky uv70 metro . Jazz on steroids ,never active Killer tone across the neck ,heavy though Spector Euro4lx, big fat bottom end ,plenty cut from the active top end but never like Jazzes for that Duff sound Rick 4003s, never had that Ricky sound but being a 3 piece I don't want it too thin , good all round ,had canny few elec issues for its age and use . looks a million dollars ,chunky neck and can never find my right spot for my playing hand ,I play 90% fingers . Fender mongrol, mex body ,all parts neck . Great fast jazz , tone button gives the best yes ,no I've had on a jazz . No idea what pick ups it has ,cts pots though Fender Cij geddy , heavy ,cool ,nice neck ,doesn't sound as good as the above Fender mex player precision ,bought new in lock down ,gorgeous to play straight out of box and unlike my last P some tone difference from the knob. Always been a jazz guy but really bonding with it . Great for the money Prometeus custom bass , never had it from house ,owned for then years , due to back niggle used one weekend as it's small and light . Great middlish sounds ,across the strings ,better than I expected Just thought I'd share as I'm fortunate to have these guitars and never buy into " too nice for gigs "
  9. Great pub gig with dep singer Usually dep myself but did 15 gigs since March while they find a bass guy Rocked the place
  10. i'd say i put looks above anything else when buying ,i'll happily fight with a great looking bass 😃
  11. I don't get involved but the band i'm in have been around since the pyramids ,their target was 104 gigs a year and they were doing it pre covid . Due to line up change we've lost a few slots and are picking up new dates from a middle man An agent of sorts but no clubs .Maybe you have someone near you can get put on his list for late notice gigs
  12. FTK album in full then Primus songs is the reports from shows thus far
  13. Yeah, like when Rush did covers Primus have released covers in the past Geddys change in style with his right hand was down to Les ,that percussive fanning he did with his fingers
  14. i Think the slap tag has stuck but across a Primus show he pretty much covers it all inc Stand up with a bow .It will be a bit weird but i like weird and they do Primus stuff after the Rush
  15. Its £6 quid charge per ticket still ! but its the official link so hey ho ! general sale friday so get in with code
  16. PRIMUSVILLE WEBSITE ,TOUR ,SCROLL TO DATE,PUT CODE IN WHEN ASKED
  17. Just grabbed tickets for manchester on pre sale my type of night out KINGS22 is code
  18. I'd put the songs you are playing way down the list from Do the band get regular (paid ) gigs Are they a good bunch How much input you have to put in to make a gig happen (pick people up ,lug most of the gear etc ,find ,book gigs ,sort payment ) Getting by on the best but least gear possible
  19. Any middle sized estate, mainly for the flat load in rather than lifting stuff over a raised bottom rail just got a focus estate and the boot is bigger than my insignia tourer estate was
  20. Decent boot so Two cabs quilter Amp goes in gig bag with leads,di box, picks, small tools ,spare strings ,fast fret, towel if i'm taking a bass out i dont usually ,i'll take a back up (back seat ) stand
  21. Out.Nothing In. New Fender Player Precision in black ,added black guard for the Stranglers look In .Used Cij Geddy Lee in black ,removed black guard for aged Cream ,looks and plays fab In Black guard for black Rick 4003s ,looks the bizz .
  22. The site goes doo lally on my phone but okay on my desktop and tablet All good for me ,bought 2 basses over the years and i like a look on their site Great pics and the odd question i've asked they've replied promptly They did knock me back when i asked for a better price on a 2 grand bass which is their call .Sale lost
  23. Peavey amps and cabs ,everyone upgrades at some point but they know in their hearts there was nothing wrong with what you had still got my peavey tmax 500 amp head (white front ),what a noise
  24. One of many who i put their records on and learnt the lines to...Great era through the 80s for that From JJ burnel to John taylor to Karn to Forbes etc . Enough there to push you on and get better . Always had tasty gear His early wooly Ibanez sound was a bit odd on the live stuff but still a great live band
