I recommend the MXR Phase 100, doesn't take out the bottom end too much.

Ok not eBay but we have a few Madrileño BC members who might be interested in this. In the Cash Converters opposite our hotel in Calle el Doctor Esquerdo there is a Mag 300 head priced at €122 (about £92).

To mod, or not to mod: Gibson Thunderbird?
JapanAxe replied to bigsmokebass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Running the string through the body will not change the tension on the neck. -

Should a dep be paid for a "freebie" gig?
JapanAxe replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
So why don't you just put a figure on it - just think of how much fuel you'll use, add a tenner for a dodgy burger and a cup of coffee, call him back and tell him that's how much you want and for that money if it is the afternoon slot the dog can even sit on the stage. I said sit, there are limits. At least he can't complain to the others that he doesn't know if you'll do it or for how much.

Excellent...... We've got a plan.
Yes indeed. -

I don't really suffer from OSAS (Overplayed Somg Aversion Syndrome), but on guitar I hate You Really Got Me. Not being EVH, I struggle to find something worthwhile to play in the solo.
Looks good but those demo's make it sound too gritty for my taste. I'll try on out when I see one in a shop.
It does sound very grindy, but you can see the clip light flashing in the Bobby Vega vid.

How to decide which bass to take to America
JapanAxe replied to The Badderer's topic in Bass Guitars
After all of the above, BA (to the best of my knowledge) changed their baggage policy. Initially on multiple readings I am 99% sure it said, they will take Musical instruments for free in the hold, as well as your 23KG baggage allowance. Now they are saying, that was never the case and the instrument was always part of the baggage allowance and they never allow instruments in the cabin (unless something small that will fit in the overhead lockers) unless I wanted to buy an extra seat for it.... yeah because the spare ticket is probably twice the price of this bass below So I will be going to the US with no bass, and buying..... http://www.sweetwate...tail/JBassJJLPB
Fwiw I think that's a good call. No worries on the way out, and if you get to love this bass you can always bring it back disassembled or invest in an ATA case for future flying-with-bass adventures. -
Trial and error is actually the best way to set a compressor! There are no 'magic' settings, as the results depend so crucially on the bass, the pickup selection and tone setting, and most of all the way you play. Having said that, there is a very good guide to setting up your compressor on the Ovni Labs website. Enjoy!

Advice Needed: Sandberg / Lakland Skyline / Maruszczyk
JapanAxe replied to mal2404's topic in Bass Guitars
Sandberg's are nice though - just you're limited to the set range of options.
Sandbergs are very nice indeed. I ended up buying a VM4. As well as plenty of set options, you can spec your own build by using their 'configurator'. -
Advice Needed: Sandberg / Lakland Skyline / Maruszczyk

I tried a Sandberg TT once (German made, not the Electra series) and I have to say it sounded less punchy than the Squier Jazz I had at the time. -

It's about the same as my head, two 1x12 cabs, and one bass.
My entire 800W rig weighs less than 26kg (57lb).
