  1. Sky Arts tonight Saturday 21st May at 11.30pm. The Doobie Brothers - Let the Music Play. The story of the band from its beginnings in 1970. Update - It’s now showing as starting one hour later at 12.30am.
  2. I was really into all of the following in the 80’s, managed to see them all live in concerts. Simply Red INXS Go West The Christians Terence Trent D’Arby
  3. Sky Arts tonight/morning. 1.45 am Beth Hart live at the Royal Albert Hall.
  4. Paul Rodgers - Muddy Waters Blues Album. A raft of guest guitarists, top players and superb tracks.
  5. In answer to the posters question. When the utilities bill drops through the letterbox.
  6. Early 70’s , NME and Melody Maker, listening to John Peel. My best mates brothers were 5 and 10 years older, we got to listen to a lot of Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack and John Mayalls Bluesbreakers. My first album purchase was Jeff Beck - Truth.
  7. Wednesday April 27th - Sky Arts 11.40 pm Muscle Shoals - docu/film about the famous recording studio.
  8. Gig in a Classic Rock covers band, used to do a minimum of 20 paid gigs a year, this year it’s dire, first gig of this year is not until the middle of May !! We have 6 gigs booked so far this year, can’t see us getting many more, half the live band venues around this way are just not putting on live music, lack of footfall and won’t pay for bands. Most of the bands around here are still going despite the onslaught of Covid over the past couple of years, I would have thought several might have called it a day but not the case, we now have a dire situation where we have the same amount of bands looking to gig at 50% of the venues there used to be.☹️
  9. Listening to this one a lot, our new drummer has suggested this as a new song to add to our set.
  10. Blimey, Sassafras, I didn’t realise they were still performing, I was really into them in the 70’s. I saw them live at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in the 70’s, it was a multi band tour, I’m pretty sure one of the other bands was SNAFU. I have dug out their albums, must gig them a play.
  11. The blonde vocalist Bet, her ego is already kicking in this evening, refused to attempt the Coldplay song because “ she couldn’t feel it “ 🤔 She has suggested she wants to do “ I wont let the sun go down on me” and demonstrates how good she can sing it. What I actually heard was a washed up old cabaret version, dreadful. ☹️
  12. Make sure you are not the only one in the band who organises everything, chasing gigs, arranging rehearsals, contacting local press, emailing posters, emailing/texting other band members etc. Its a lesson I still haven’t learnt.

  14. The Rock in Cherry Hinton Road was a great live music venue many years ago, played there many times, sadly, I think they no longer put on live bands.
  15. Brotherhood of Man. Two men Two women
  16. Was he in Taxi with Danny DeVito ?
  17. Cambridge ain’t a brilliant place for live music venues for weekend warriors, considering it’s a major University town, gigging opportunities are pretty poor. Huntingdon had a couple of pubs that put on live bands, they are both what I call very rough places, full of trouble makers and druggies, not sure if they still have live bands at the weekends.
  18. “ look at the size of my blister” 😀
