  1. BBC 4 Tomorrow January 7th @ 11.30pm The Great Double Bass Race. The 1978 International Double Bass Competition.
  2. It’s probably code for Sex on Fire 😀
  3. Paul Jones AKA Kenneth Williams doing old Manfred Mann tunes. I used to really like him in the Blues Band, I think he is now 81 and sadly his voice is a very pale shadow of what it used to be.
  4. Roll out the dinosaurs 🦕 Rick is definitely doing a better job on BBC 1, brilliant firework display in the capital.
  5. Just booked two tickets to see Limehouse Lizzy in January.
  6. Oh no, not another Joan Jet, one is bad enough. ☹️
  7. I had a similar thing many years ago with a married couple, although both of them were not in our band. Chris was our drummer and a really nice guy, but his wife was a mouthy old dragon who ruled the roost and was very opinionated. When he first joined us, she would come to every gig, it was like having a sixth member of the band, always poking her nose in and criticising, it really came to a head and the band gave him an ultimatum that he would not bring her to gigs or we find another drummer, we didn’t see her any more and Chris continued to play with us. Chris was definitely more relaxed at gigs with her not there, he ended up divorcing her and I played in two other bands with him, sadly he was killed in a motorcycle accident a few years ago.
  8. Looks very likely your five piece will be advertising for replacement drums and keys players 😀 Plenty of spare time over this holiday period to check out Join My Band and Bandmix.
  9. I would personally seek out an airbrush specialist painter, then you could have a real trick paint job.
  10. You have let all of us into your little secret - It will still be a cheap bass, under all that flashy paint 😀
  11. Is your drummer Dave Soul by any chance ?
  12. Cetera, any specific reason why the drummer was set up off to the right and not centre stage ?
  13. Currently suffering with it after clearing leaves in the garden, been having back issues for years since suffering a serious bout of sciatica. Was using Trace Elliot for years, now using MarkBass.
  14. Skunk Anansie, Twisted, bass led from the very start and all the way through.
  15. Having read the Cetera post in who are you seeing next, he mentioned going to see Living Colour sometime soon. I had to give this wonderful track a listen.
  16. Could also be something to do with the superb guitar solo on it 👍
  17. That puts a different perspective on it as you were actively promoting yourself as a dep, which you didn’t mention in your initial post.
  18. I would personally view the outcome of audition three as a bit of an insult. We don’t consider you to right for the permanent bass role, but you can be one of our deps, stuff that.
  19. Sky Arts 9pm tonight (24th November) Greatest Guitar Riffs Part 1 of a brand new three part series.
  20. My wife suggested I learn the bass line to this classic, so I have been listening to it a lot, lovely bass line, but I’m struggling to accurately get up to tempo at 114bpm, at the moment I’m comfortable at 90bpm, so a way to go yet.
  21. Fish & Chips, Burger & Chips probably £35 each in The Shard.
  22. Surprised your plumber didn’t fit a Magna Clean filter in the new system, unless you have it located elsewhere or that canister thingy in the bottom right of your picture is a similar device.
  23. The Trace gave me a snappier tight punchy sound I cannot seem to replicate with the MB. The MB gives a massive fuller sound, several sound engineers at gigs I have played, have mentioned how good it sounds, which is nice to hear from the guys in the know.
  24. Loved my Trace rig, best sound I have ever had, the downside was the hernia I had through lugging it about, especially the 4 x 10 cab, after this I moved over to the lighter MarkBass rig.
