  1. That’s the road between Leicester and Loughborough.
  2. I’ll see if I’m at the next rehearsal.
  3. This guy is awesome.
  4. Please do tell. Who we’re the band that made TOTP with the top ten single ?
  5. Surely if the guy didn’t transport the banner and lights, the band would be missing important visual impact, if he carries the most stuff, then he will be the longest one setting up and breaking it down, I think it’s pretty good of him to lug about all that extra band stuff as well as a full drum kit.
  6. Question, I’ll assume the banner is for the band. Are his array of lights just aimed at his drum kit and him, or are they stage lights for the whole of the band ?
  7. Some serious money changing hands here, his four nominated charities will do well from 25% of the proceeds. Christies have announced they will also donate £50k to each of the four charities.
  8. Good productive rehearsal with the new band last night, four new songs now almost gig ready. The Foo Fighters proved to be a bit difficult with some odd 7/4 time signatures thrown in, definitely needs a bit more work to be really tight. Already have six confirmed bookings including a festival. Rock You Like A Hurricane - Scorpions American Girl - Tom Petty Times Like These - Foo Fighters La Grange - ZZ Top
  9. Try the Lion Inn at Boreham, just on the outskirts of Chelmsford with easy access off the A12. My pal who lives in Chelmsford has had a couple of parties in their very pleasant function room, no idea of price, but definitely worth an enquiry. If guests are coming from away, there is a very handy Premier Inn just up the road for overnight stays.
  10. I’m pretty sure you are correct.
  11. Our new band have decided to add American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to the set, thanks guys. Its a tricky one as I like to learn them as exactly to the recording.
  12. I was a guitarist back in the 1980’s and the very first early Tokai products were exceptionally well made copies of the USA brands, as Bassfinger mentioned earlier, the quality and playability at one point was considered better than the USA guitars. I had the Strat and ( Love Rock ) Les Paul and both were superb instruments, I still wished I had them, as they are now very collectible and worth some serious money.
  13. Went to see Limehouse Lizzy last night, the whole band were really on point playing Thin Lizzy numbers to the highest standard, the audience were really supportive and had a great night’s entertainment. 👍
  14. Sad to see three artists that come to mind on the stage performing that are no longer with us, Tom Petty, Billy Preston and Gary Brooker. ☹️
  15. The bit that made me laugh was the big last tune with everyone on stage at the same time (always a recipe for disaster), somebody shouted for John Mayall to do a harmonica solo, it looked like he had forgotten how to play it and just made a humming noise.
  16. I find it irritating when the word “passed” is used to describe a person who has died, it’s another euphemism that’s made its way over from the USA. ☹️
  17. Musicman, it’s written on the headstock.
  18. BBC 4 Tomorrow January 7th @ 11.30pm The Great Double Bass Race. The 1978 International Double Bass Competition.
  19. It’s probably code for Sex on Fire 😀
  20. Paul Jones AKA Kenneth Williams doing old Manfred Mann tunes. I used to really like him in the Blues Band, I think he is now 81 and sadly his voice is a very pale shadow of what it used to be.
  21. Roll out the dinosaurs 🦕 Rick is definitely doing a better job on BBC 1, brilliant firework display in the capital.
  22. Just booked two tickets to see Limehouse Lizzy in January.
