All the very best Tony, you are one of the good guys of this world. 👍

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
steantval replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Good rehearsal tonight, nailed the Slash version of Oh Well, will be in the set for its first outing on Saturday night. -
Back in the 80’s and 90’s when I used to sign the receipt for the gig money at the end of the night, I used a different stage name for every signature 🤔

Walk and find some experienced players to work with, time is very precious, don’t waste it. -
I would like to give a big shout out for Hellzero, Tony’s help with sorting out my issue with the jack has been above and beyond, a damn fine fellow 👏👏👏

Mike Score would struggle achieving that unique look nowadays, unfortunately we all grow old.

Just three guys dressed in tee shirts, nothing flash, the music speaks volumes. 80’s mega star, nothing to prove by dressing up like he did back then with the Police. Each to their own.

Strings Direct have them listed on their site, when I enquired in April they had none in stock and no idea if they would be able to obtain any more, their site still states “coming soon”. Looking at other website forums, it would appear that Musicman cannot source the original input sockets, they were manufactured by a third party and they are no longer in business, the one Musicman offer on their site is not like for like and has to be modified to fit.

I have always played in cover bands and I cannot recall anytime when a song has been rejected by any of the members due to any of the reasons mentioned throughout this thread, if it’s a great song and we feel we can do it justice, then it’s in the set. We do not put every song suggested through a microscope and we certainly feel no need to offer the audience a trigger warning before playing specific songs, we play live to entertain an audience and enjoy ourselves while doing it.

I thought I would bring up this thread again. I went onto the online Musicman spare parts site and actually located the socket I required, priced at £3.10p, I proceeded to fill out my name and address and moved on to the payment section, this is what I discovered. Input Jack £3.10p UPS £30.59p Duties, Taxes & Fees £9.23p What an absolute joke, the total cost of getting a £3.10p part to me in the U.K. is £42.92p

Missed Nicks sister doing her solo slot as I arrived around 2.30pm. A great day of live bands doing thirty minute sets, timely changeovers due to running two stages. A really big turnout of punters, several hundreds, all having a good time in the lovely sunny weather. IMG_2714.avif

Tonight BBC2, 10.50pm, Radio 2 in the Park, Def Leppard. Update, that was really good, the guitar sounds were awesome, Joe’s vocals were a lot better than I was expecting 👍 -
I certainly admire you guys who do depping roles, I have been playing bass regularly in cover bands for over thirty years and the thought of depping fills me with dread. The thought of possibly learning thirty songs I have (as worse case scenario) never played before, for a one off gig would entail a lot of my time ( I don’t read music ), it’s tough enough learning a couple of new songs a month in the band I’m currently gigging with. Respect to you guys who do it.

What track are you playing? I presume you will be playing alongside some of the local Peterborough muso’s, they will be giving you lots of support. I will hopefully be attending on the Sunday.

What are you listening to right now?

Faith Healer by SAHB. I remember going to the rock disco’s at the Top Rank Suite in Cardiff during 1975, they used to play this track through the massive PA, the throbbing intro to the song was awesome, you could feel it hitting your chest. I would be surprised if Stub Mandrel didn’t attend any of the rock disco’s or live gigs there. -

Really enjoyed “We want the funk” Currently watching James Brown Electric Proms, outstanding musicianship from the band, they are sooooooo tight. -
Heard a rumour there could be up to twenty local bands playing throughout the big day including several disbanded ones that are reforming to just perform on the day.

Clicked on it, never heard of Rumble, with regards to the track, lasted 22 seconds and turned it off. They will probably get a slot on the next series of Jools Holland 😀 -
Just watched some of the funeral cortège going through Birmingham on the TV, the family stopped by where the floral tributes have been laid and placed some there themselves, you could see they were broken and clearly very upset, there were quite a few cretins in the crowd showing absolute disrespect by chanting and singing Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy Oi Oi Oi while this was going on, maybe a bit of silence would have been more appropriate.

Caught a bit of the Scissor Sisters set last night, CMAT should take note, this is how to put on a polished professional performance.

Just got in from a gig and turned on the TV for Glastonbury and greeted with an act called ANOHNi and The Johnson’s, WTF was I watching and listening to, I just don’t get it, music just sometimes goes in some strange directions.
