It sounds better and better every time I use it. Back on a hollow stage tomorrow though, small gig in Stockton. Let's see what happens. And mirror the comments above regarding Roqsolid, my cover is spot on.

Wow, that's an interesting one. Plenty of meaty crunch to the sound.

Looks pretty good to me.

Personal taste. I think Pedulla MVP look fantastic in dark colours with black hardware. I'd use a precision or jazz but it would need to be black with a maple fret board. I have no interest in any other colours. It's down to the owner. If I feel the bass doesn't work for me, for what ever reason then it's gone. I'm not interested in what my band or Mr Creme Brulee thinks. You will always play better when you are comfortable and happy with your bass.

Good luck Aidan.

You can run three pedals together on the same patch. You can then switch these pedals in or out of the patch as required. Just like a normal line of individual pedals. Works for me.
Craig Adams era Sisters Of Mercy was valve amps (except the very early days when I think he had a HH solid state combo). He was often pictured with an Ampeg SVT-CL and loved a heavily overdriven sound. Simon Gallup was a solid state Peavey user with a sound that wasn't overdriven, but he often had lots of chorus or flanger on instead. Chorus and flanger was quite a common effect on "goth" bass sounds, check out a lot of Play Dead stuff for instance (Shine, Gaze or Isabel are great examples as well as great, bass lead songs).
Cheers Chris Great info, I love this type of music. Yes, Craig Adams ran a HH with a distortion pedal via an active Ibanez, I thought he moved over to Ampeg later in his career. Great sounds which ever he used, love the bass sound on Alice, that's probably my favourite. Simon Gallup uses ampeg too, 2 x svt200 I think. It's definitely solid state, along with boss pedals including metal distortion, if you check out some of the recent live footage the bass sound is unbelievably aggressive. I was quite shocked when I heard it. Keep the info coming, it's very interesting.

Following this thread with interest. I'm in that type of band, all original material but with those sort of distinctive tones. I'll be checking out that Clone pedal for sure. I'm currently running a Zoom B3 set with two chorus pedals and a flanger, plus a bass soul food for extra drive. Trace Elliot AH600-12 with everything on and the mids boosted. A pick works great for this sound unfortunately I can't hold one so it's fingers for me and a boost in the mids. Check out Bauhaus, early Sisters of Mercy and The Cure. They all have a very similar sound... SS amp, chorus, distortion and compression Practice experiment and enjoy. It's taken me 10 month to get to my current sound, and I'm still fiddling.

These cabs take a bit of breaking in,I'd give it several hours, once done they sound great. I've swapped the CMT100 out for a Trace Elliot AH600-12 as the Ashdown sounded to smooth for the sound we have. Think early Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus etc. Gigged it last night at The Black Swan Bradford and it sounded fantastic. I even had a bassist from another band compliment me on my sound and ask for a run down on my set up which was cool. I have no idea what 4x10 cabs from other manufacturers sound like as this is the first time I've used one. It certainly works for me in my current set up, it's very easy to manage and seems to be well built. I can only recommended you try one but make sure it's had a good work out first to loosen those speakers up. When I first tried it with the Ashdown it was brand new, it sounded okay but I was a touch underwhelmed, that was during two hours of me, by myself in a rehearsal room thrashing the nuts off the cab. At one point the was gain around 2 o'clock and everything else maxed out, including the master volume. The cab took it easy and I started to think maybe I needed more power to get it moving. A couple of band practices followed. It sounded ok. A Trace Elliot head was acquired it sounded good. Played a gig on a knock up hollow stage... Nope not happy. Couple more practice session then a gig last night... Bang, excellent aggressive, punchy, tight. I'm a happy boy. I dropped the Ashdown on it before this gig too. It sounded huge. Deep, thick valve goodness. What I thought I'd get aft the original 2 hours of torture. Break those speakers in kids, your ears will thank you for it. (ear plugs recommend)
Cheers! I dont think the body size and comparitive neck length on the Thumb would be so much of a problem for me. I have a very similar playing position to Ryan Martinie with the bass sitting off to my right hip, so I think a thumb would be a very comfortable bass for me. I could be wrong however but I could just sell it if that's the case. I know the stingray is rather large in comparison...but dat tone. Would you say the Stingray is more versatile? I see people extolling the versatility of the thumb all over the place. Thanks to everyone else who has replied too. All of this information is really a great help to me
I used a thru neck thumb for several years playing similar material to that. It was excellent. I sold it last month due to shoulder and neck problems, it was a hard move for me as I'd owned it for around 15 years. I ended up buying a Streamer SS1, it feels very similar and I can't really notice a lot of change to the sound, it's also excellent. And it doesn't matter how you hang a thumb it will still neck dive and the 1st fret will always be on the other side of the stage. Second hand Warwicks... total bargains.
Roqsolid have them, very happy with mine, went for the one with the board pocket in front due to the fabric grille on my cab and turnaround was very quick. Also had the foam lining and it fits like a glove.
Excellent... ordered. Cheers.
Most people have been quoting the 'NV' solo piece as Billy's 'eruption', for me it's 'Shy Boy'. Written by him, and he's played a version of that song in every rock band he's ever been in, from Talas right through to The Winery Dogs. The DLR version with Vai (from Eat 'em and smile) is probably the best recorded version out there. https://www.youtube....h?v=UtwBJycUihw
Yes, Shy Boy. That's definitely the Billy song for me. I still think it's great now.
Bought as a stop gap until a Warwick SS1 was found. I now have a Stage 1 so the Spector is going... Early 2000 ish solid maple Wings, Schaller Machine Heads including drop D extender, EMG pickups and 3 band circuit, high power output. Very rare Emerald Green colour. This bass has definitely had a life, there's a thread on this site regarding the original import from the USA, it goes on to say the bass had been turned into a fretless at some stage. The person that imported it had the bass re fretted, it's also had the machine heads repositioned, I guess in the Warwick style and then returned back to original. It has the odd mark/knock and lacquer is missing from the end of the frets. I was planning on having the frets dressed and the edge of the fret board tidied up but decided against it. It still in decent condition and looks great. I'm based in the North East but will deliver to most places in the North by hand. I do not have a hard case for this bass so will not post. I'm looking for 700 ono. If you want it dropping off I'll be needing fuel money.
Bought as a stop gap until a Warwick SS1 was found. I now have a Stage 1 so the Spector is going... The Streamer looks stunning

Very nice, it looks quite evil. Do the Anniversary Euros have the standard neck width or are they 1.5"
