I put a Tung Sol 12AX7 in. There's a distinctive growl to the pre-amp now at low volume. It's more defined. While it's nowhere near the tone of the Samsamp, it seems different tonally and there's seemingly more response from the tone-slider controls and the three bass/mid/treble pots. Interesting. P
That sounds interesting. I may have to try a valve swap on my EVO iii. It may sort out the close but no cigar sound the head currently produces.

Picked this up recently. It needs a bit of fettling but still feels very comfortable...

Try www.bandm.co.uk It's the same company that handles Aguilar in the UK. They have the new Peavey heads on the website

Is this quiz any good for playing metal?

I've gone back to my old Trace Elliot combo just this week. It sounds great but weighs a ton and is very awkward to move around. If anyone would like to sell me a GP12 SMX Head I would be more than interested.
Sweet - is that a Portaflex combo?
It's a B100r Rocket Combo. I used to own it. They sound fantastic.

Ashdown ABM EVO III Combo. The Neo 1x15 cab and Bass is not for sale. Bought last year as ex demo direct from Ashdown. It's in great condition and was checked over by the team at Ashdown before I started gigging with it in November and December. It was bought on wim as I was getting back into gigging with a band and didnt fancy dragging my my 20 year old Trace Elliot around. I've now got my sights on some thing else following the North East Bass Bash and a case of bad gas... one in one out etc. £300 Can post in UK I would consider a trade for...

GK Head
Trace Elliot GP12 SMX Head

North East Bass Bash - Gateshead, January 30th 2016

Thanks for an enjoyable day. It was certainly an eye opener regarding modern amplification. My choice of the day would have to be the GK Fusion 550 and the purple Warwick Streamer. Lovely gear, Thanks guys. ...oh, Barefaced Cabs...mental physics going on there. Cheers, Bren. Green Spector. -
He's been around long enough to have seen it from both sides I would think. He speaks a lot of sense! I met him at a signing before a clinic in Manchester in '95 and he doesn't seem to have aged a day!
I was at the same one and your right, he aint aged much. I still have the signed photo on my cupboard.
It's already happening.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should Edit.... I've seen a clip of the Metallica concert. It wasn't what I would call silent and was staged that way due to environmental constraints. Drums are drums and drummer's make noise. -
I can see a time where the big names start endorsing iem systems and di boxes rather than cabs. The younger players are embracing technology and they are the next batch of purchasers, the dinosaurs won't be here for ever deafening themselves. Silent gigs are alright out there where the audience all where head phones, imagine a group of kids that could wear head phones plugged into their phone with an app that mixes them all together via wifi including fx etc and recording capability compared to setting up a lad of expensive heavy kit their parents have to drive around!
That sounds awful... in more ways than one. It's certainly not what I would class as going to see a gig. The punters may as well stay at home and watch it on a monitor, for that matter the band may as well be at home and not necessarily at the same one as the other members of the group. -
Any interest in a part ex on any of the following? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/277338-aguilar-th350-matamp-neo-2x12/ Looking forward to the pictures
Hi, I'm not looking for trades on this occasion. I'm due a delivery shortly and this is one in, one out sort of thing... don't tell the wife, etc. Nice Matamp though.

Not sure if it's only the B Social he's using or if he's gone the whole hog with a full touring rig. Very interested in following this move.
