1.
It's already happening.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should Edit.... I've seen a clip of the Metallica concert. It wasn't what I would call silent and was staged that way due to environmental constraints. Drums are drums and drummer's make noise.
2.
I can see a time where the big names start endorsing iem systems and di boxes rather than cabs. The younger players are embracing technology and they are the next batch of purchasers, the dinosaurs won't be here for ever deafening themselves. Silent gigs are alright out there where the audience all where head phones, imagine a group of kids that could wear head phones plugged into their phone with an app that mixes them all together via wifi including fx etc and recording capability compared to setting up a lad of expensive heavy kit their parents have to drive around!
That sounds awful... in more ways than one. It's certainly not what I would class as going to see a gig. The punters may as well stay at home and watch it on a monitor, for that matter the band may as well be at home and not necessarily at the same one as the other members of the group.
3.
Any interest in a part ex on any of the following? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/277338-aguilar-th350-matamp-neo-2x12/ Looking forward to the pictures
Hi, I'm not looking for trades on this occasion. I'm due a delivery shortly and this is one in, one out sort of thing... don't tell the wife, etc. Nice Matamp though.
4. Ampeg B100r for sale. Good used condition. Made in USA.. Can deliver North East and Yorkshire. Will take to North East Bass Bash Cheers Bren.
5. Not sure if it's only the B Social he's using or if he's gone the whole hog with a full touring rig. Very interested in following this move.
6.
Looks like natural oiled to me. You can input the serial number on the Warwick.de site and get the full spec. Lovely bass. I like the 3 pots. Shame you can't get a stacked one to match. GLWTS
Cheers, I've just checked and you are correct, Natural Oil Finish. It looks very dark in the photos, I was hoping for Nirvana Black.
7. R.I.P. Lemmy sh*t news.
8.
Can do but it is early 90's, unsure what you might expect!
That would be great. Hopefuly the neck will be similar..ish and it will sound like a Warwick, lol. I've just started giging again after several years away and have started to get shoulder issues, I'm thinking a Streamer will be more forgiving when hanging around my neck due to the body shape and strap location.
9. If someone could bring a 90s thru neck Streamer 4 string it would be appreciated. I would like to compare it to my Thumb. Cheers
10.
I like Doug, had a chance to chat with him at a small 200 seater gig here in Milwaukee. Blue
I met him in Newcastle back in the early 90s, I think it was a Trace Elliot or Warwick promo tour. A very intersting player and a top bloke as well.
11. Just spotted Doug Wimbish on the Ashdown site with a link to a youtube demo. He's knocking out a few videos using the B Social unit. I wonder if he's moving his stage rig over to Ashdown, too? I've only ever seen him use Trace Elliot in the past. I really like Doug so will be keeping a close eye on this. A very interesting catch Ashdown!
12. That's cool. It looks similar to the Fender Japan PB70 but with added mojo.
13. SV known by many average joes, most other bass players are known by not so many.
14. Cheers Truckstop. Active is it then or some sort of wedge bass combo.
15.
Most of the above, but I also found that boosting the 180hz slider gave me some nice low mid punch without low end being overbearing. I do something similar with my Trace heads.
Something similar too, but a touch more middle and no sub octave. Cutting the bass was a big improvement.
16. Cheers guys. Thanks for the input, it's certainly given me more to think about. What's an 'active' monitor?
17.
Isn't that Ashdown?
Not really,Ashdown have their own sound. I own an ABM Evo iii and a TE 1225v. The Abm seems to have a softer sound than the TE which sounds more punchy and focused at the bottom end... both are great and the more I use the Ashdown the more dialed I get the sound. But it ain't quite TE. Maybe one day TE will re appear with all the weight of sound and punch I remember. Until then it's ABM for me... Unless Mr Ashdown has some thing hidden away that may fill the void, then I maybe persuaded to buy that. I'd have to paint green though😉
18. The band I play for got a bit caught out last night when the venue we played at could not get the stage monitor to work. We use a drum machine through the PA so the gig became a bit of a challange. We are not interested in getting a drummer so have decided to cough up for a monitor; drums mainly with a bit of vocal. We have no idea about this stuff so I'm looking for a bit of direction, we'll probably go second hand £100 ish. Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Cheers
