1. I've been using this head for the last few month and have to say it sounds great. It's the later Peavey head with all the bells and whistles. I use it with everything engaged. Drive, compression pre shape etc and it spits out a wonderful clanky crunch. As this head is getting on a bit I was wondering what else is available that could offer up a similar racket. I'm thinking maybe an Ampeg svt pro 3 but have yet to actually try one. I did have a Ashdown evo 111 but it didn't quite have the attack. I also own an Ashdown Ctm 100 but that's way to nice for my current requirements so will be for the chop if I can find a TE replacement. Any recommendations? Cheers
2. Great set up. How are you getting on with the aguilar head?
3. I'm liking that. Glws
4.
I think this is it - the bass is a CRFM, Spector don't make a CRM as far as I know : http://basschat.co.uk/topic/180734-fs-spector-euro-4-crfm-in-trans-green-withdrawn/
Cheers for the bump. That's the same link I posted earlier in this very thread. Now... who wants to talk cash offers?
5. All of them more than once. That was many years ago, since my second wind I haven't snapped any, maybe I'm just not trying hard enough.
6. Oh, Edmund. Can it be true?... Original Thread
7. All good tonight, loud and angry. The stage monitors v drum machine, well that's another story...
8.
If it booms on that hollow stage try turning it on its side (I know it doesn't have side feet but just to test). If that solves it then it is the output from the hybrid resonator causing the problem, if not it's just the usual powerful cab generating pressure by a hollow stage and causing stage resonance problem.
okay, I'll give that a try if required. Cheers
9. ...a nugget of purest Green. Still for sale
10. It sounds better and better every time I use it. Back on a hollow stage tomorrow though, small gig in Stockton. Let's see what happens. And mirror the comments above regarding Roqsolid, my cover is spot on.
11. Wow, that's an interesting one. Plenty of meaty crunch to the sound.
12. Will trade for mik Warwick Star Bass 34" black 4 string. Maybe an Aria TAB 66 with cash adjustment.
13. Personal taste. I think Pedulla MVP look fantastic in dark colours with black hardware. I'd use a precision or jazz but it would need to be black with a maple fret board. I have no interest in any other colours. It's down to the owner. If I feel the bass doesn't work for me, for what ever reason then it's gone. I'm not interested in what my band or Mr Creme Brulee thinks. You will always play better when you are comfortable and happy with your bass.
14.

The Pickfords Shuffle Brilliant
15.
How does one access bypass on the B3?
Hold the middle foot switch down. If you hold it too long it mutes.
16. You can run three pedals together on the same patch. You can then switch these pedals in or out of the patch as required. Just like a normal line of individual pedals. Works for me.
17.
Craig Adams era Sisters Of Mercy was valve amps (except the very early days when I think he had a HH solid state combo). He was often pictured with an Ampeg SVT-CL and loved a heavily overdriven sound. Simon Gallup was a solid state Peavey user with a sound that wasn't overdriven, but he often had lots of chorus or flanger on instead. Chorus and flanger was quite a common effect on "goth" bass sounds, check out a lot of Play Dead stuff for instance (Shine, Gaze or Isabel are great examples as well as great, bass lead songs).
Cheers Chris Great info, I love this type of music. Yes, Craig Adams ran a HH with a distortion pedal via an active Ibanez, I thought he moved over to Ampeg later in his career. Great sounds which ever he used, love the bass sound on Alice, that's probably my favourite. Simon Gallup uses ampeg too, 2 x svt200 I think. It's definitely solid state, along with boss pedals including metal distortion, if you check out some of the recent live footage the bass sound is unbelievably aggressive. I was quite shocked when I heard it. Keep the info coming, it's very interesting.
18. Following this thread with interest. I'm in that type of band, all original material but with those sort of distinctive tones. I'll be checking out that Clone pedal for sure. I'm currently running a Zoom B3 set with two chorus pedals and a flanger, plus a bass soul food for extra drive. Trace Elliot AH600-12 with everything on and the mids boosted. A pick works great for this sound unfortunately I can't hold one so it's fingers for me and a boost in the mids. Check out Bauhaus, early Sisters of Mercy and The Cure. They all have a very similar sound... SS amp, chorus, distortion and compression Practice experiment and enjoy. It's taken me 10 month to get to my current sound, and I'm still fiddling.
19.
Beaten to it - also beaten to the comment that Thomann seem to be knocking them out mega cheap right now....
£416 is crazy for a custom shop head.
20. No trades... Straight sale only. If I can find a cheap hard case in the next couple of weeks I will post the Spector. Until then it's as previous. I will not risk posting in a cardboard box. Cheers
