1.
Does anyone know if Japanese market basses sometimes have nothing on the heel? I'm looking at what appears to be a PB62 Japanese only but there's nothing on the heel or plate ...
As in serial number and the crafted or made in Japan wording? The neck plate on my Jazz is plain, it has serial number and crafted in Japan on the heel.....any pics mate, maybe earlier models were labelled elsewhere on the bass???
2. Hi cellobass, thanks for the link. I enjoyed your tracks, particularly the darker side of your writing. By the way welcome to basschat
3. I know 70's Fender Jazz basses had the pick up closer to the bridge but that's taking the wiss
4. Hmmmm, the bass part is now stuck in my head

13. Looks great Ritch
14. This is...... WAS my Billy-stein 70's ish P bass with a 57 neck, Dimarzio pick ups and the Dimarzio Model one with seperate outs, Badass Bridge, reverse tuners, knackered paint work, dog of a bass but was a good reliable work horse...sold it on in a moment of utter madness, pic was about 10 years ago. It was sold to someone in South Wales who obviously moved on...could be in Wales, could be anywhere! It's not worth a lot but I'd pay a fair bit to have it back
15. Just got hold of Audacity, so looking forward to a crack, be good practice me thinks!
16. That's a mighty impressive list....noticed the last one is the mother of all
17. Jamm: I had mine with a power amp and a 2x15.....punchy little fella it was, there is a certain amount of growl, not distortion...I remember it as being quite clean but it certainly had an edge....I later added a Pearce BC1 which made it scream like a Banshee!
18.
I turned my drummer's onto hot air for a little while. That's even more brutal.
Hmmmm, I like it!
19.
The most annoying thing is when you make the time and take the trouble to learn songs only to turn up at the rehearsal to find one member of the band hasn't bothered at all. Usual excuse being 'i didn't have the time' - Tough! I didn't have the time either, but you have to MAKE time. grrrrr...annoys me it does!!!! peace c
There's always one! It's the drummer in my case....next gig, I'm going to secretly unplug his fan so he sweats and feels like he's done some work! :brow:
20.
Use Audacity. It's free and you can drop the track in then add a track for your bass line. Worked fine for me a while back adding a harmony guitar to a live track
In that case I might have a crack then
21. Love to have a crack at that but my pc doesn't run my recording software anymore.
22.
Quite correct, 'the Wife' did feature a Gibson EB pup and the DiMarzio is a remodelled version. I often wondered if it was a direct replacement, or adjusted to fit in to the neck position of a Fender string spacing better. On a similar subject, I would love to know what would happen if you put a MM mpup in the neck position as per 'the wife'. I wouldn't mind hearing what that would offer up sonically.
I reckon any humbucking type of pick up would work fine. The early Model One was way out on string spacing, maybe because Gibson have narrower string spacing than a Fender, it also had adjustable pole pieces, don't know if the new type does. The other good thing about the old Model One was the black paint easily come off with some white spirits, BINGO! instant Billy appeal I should stay away from these threads....makes me think how much of a fool I was to get shot of my knackered P bass All I have is a photo or two of it.
23. What I look for if I was watching a covers band, is a different approach to the tracks they're covering...don't get that too often in my covers band but anyway say for example....Bob Dylan stuff, not really my thing but I heard some good covers of his songs.
24. Bilbo's dept this isn't it?
