1.
Congratulations on the SR1000 - stunning basses
Arent they just! It's a thing of beauty
2.
I was having a go at iCastle, who is a fan of The Wombles. At least, he says he is.
There is nothing wrong with loving the Wombles..., and better still their bassist was a girl
3. I had a 5 string.... I tried hard to love it, but just couldn't. I've never needed to go below D for a song, so found it easier to quickly drop tune anyhow. So my 5 string sat unused and unloved. So a couple of weeks ago I sold it and put the money towards my dream bass an Ibanez SR1000..... Best decision I've made so far!! In other 5 string news, my bass teacher has a 5 string Sei bass with a high C rather than a Low B.... That is quite a thing of beauty
4. I think I have a good ear and can work out basslines quickly. I also have a fairly good sense of time and can lock into a drummer (even bad ones once I can feel the music! ) My slap is dreadful.... Which is frustrating as I LOVE slap bassline.... I'm working at it, but it just isn't getting there yet.
5. I had a similar issue Mel with another song. I did low note with first finger, high notes with second finger.... But in all honesty I do favour my second finger anyhow, so it is quick!
6. Well done Ant
7. You need a post office credit card
8. That is brilliant Makes me really happy to see!
9.
I lived in South Wales for a while and I remember those trips well. Extortionate isn't the word! Daylight robbery, more like.
Well you have to pay to enter the quality side of the bridge but they'll let anyone into England
10. Wunjos bass centre are brilliant.... They defretted an Ibanez SR300 for me a few months ago because their website said they had SR300F's in stock when they didn't and the manufacturer had stopped doing them. Bloody marvellous service
11.
Wouldn't work the other way round here: Me "Darling, would you like to come on a roadtrip to the midlands with me tomorrow" Her "Why are you going to the Midlands?" Me "I'm meeting a woman off Basschat as I'm buying a bass off her" Her "Who is she?" (slightly pissed off tone of voice) Me "Just a woman selling a bass" Her "Right, I'm coming" Me "Don't you have things to do at the allotment?" Him "Definitely not!" Followed by a silent car journey to the Midlands and one of the poorest buying experiences imaginable
That really made me giggle
12. Knowing I have a week off on annual leave next week, I keep looking at the picture awaiting inspiration to strike...... It hasn't yet! I purposefully won't listen to an entry until I have composed as I don't want to be influenced
13. Fab tune I love playing it My version isn't identical to the original, but works.... I haven't got the tab or notation though but could walk you through it!
14. I've been learning Treasure by Bruno Marrs for the fun of it (and to work on my slapping!) I should be learning Great Gig in the Sky as we are going to add that into the set, but as both keys and guitar said they wouldnt have chance this weekend, I decided to do something non Floyd
15. I'm amazed at all you people that rehearse on people's houses, even with electric drums!!! Surely you must still make a racket? Gosh, I love my guitarist but you could never let him lose with his Marshall stack in someone's house! LOL!
16.
Nice! But I thought this was going to be a list of trombone rules. You know, something like: 1. Do not play the trombone indoors. 2. Do not fill the bell of the trombone with Strawberry Munch Bunch. 3. Do not bang your slide on the TV screen (see Rule 1). 4. No parping after 23:00. 5. No playing the 'sad trombone' sound when you're upset. 6. No off-colour jokes about being a 'boner'. 7. No wearing the trombone case as a funny hat. 8. Do not empty your spit-valve on the carpet (see Rule 1). 9. Do not leave fingerprints on your bell-end. 10. Do not let your slide fall off into a goldfish pond. 11. Never share a music stand with someone on your left. 12. Er... that's it.
You missed two 13. Never ever show off by playing the theme tune to Johnny Briggs. 14. If you join a brass band, place your chair a suitable distance from the trumpet player as you don't want to clout him in the head when you play.
17. My band rehearsal areas have been a back of a shop, a church hall, a rugby club and a practice studio.
18.
Snort! Fnarr! And so on.
Trust you
19.
Or who think so little of their wife that they reckon she can't tell one red bass from another?
Hubby's hobby is photography, and I genuinely couldn't tell one lens from another..... Apart from his big telescopic lens he has for sport photography.
20.
Nice ... He let you go off alone to meet a basschat member ? He could have had an axe or something .... Ill get me coat
It was in a very crowded motorway services I think I was safe somehow (Russ, if you see this, please take no offence, you are a lovely geezer and I guess Geek was speaking hypothetically )
21. For me it's about the enjoyment However, rehearsal rooms, fuel, equipment does not come cheap, so money is always welcome. That said, I'll happily do charity gigs for free. However, the big bit of the enjoyment for me is the buzz of gigging, all the home rehearsing and group rehearsing is fun and all, but it can't beat a live audience watching you!
22. It's not just wives.... Husbands can be equally troublesome I found this approach worked well for me just a week ago.... Me "Darling, would you like to come on a roadtrip to the midlands with me tomorrow" Him "Why are you going to the Midlands?" Me "I'm meeting a bloke off Basschat as I'm buying a bass off him" Him "Not another bass!!!" (slightly pissed off tone of voice) Me "Yes, but I'm selling two" Him "Oh, OK then" Me "So do you want to come?" Him "No thanks, got too much to do down the allotment" Should add that I have stuck to what I said, and the two basses I were selling have, in Elvis style, left the building!
23. Won't be able to get over to Bristol on Sunday now, but hope that Sunday (Peter Hook) and Monday (John Taylor) goes well James. Hopefully I'll get my (non sweaty) hands on it over the bridge in Wales at some point
24. Hello from another South Wales basschatter. I'd like to know your band name and when you are playing too
25.
That's cobblers. We kicked 'er aaht 'cos she would'n show us 'er Bristols.
Too right too, you old perve!!
