Hubby and I don't help each other!! He tends to be fairly supportive of my purchases and I tend to be supportive of his, and then we spend together on cycling.... Probably why we are always skint -
Yes I was there at Kev's jam session. Really enjoyed it and glad I plucked up the courage to get up and play. Especially Johnny B Goode which I had never played before! I enjoyed watching the other bands too, especially the house band featuring the estimable KevB on bass! He's a terrific player and really versatile - can play virtually anything thrown at him and sing too!! Had a bit of a nightmare journey back tho - Junction 11 of the M42 closed and I found myself driving round the midlands countryside in the dark and rain trying to find Junction 10. Sat Nav kept taking me back to J11! Enventually I had to stop at a garage and ask a real human being for directions
So pleased it went well Shell
I played a wedding last night. We found out just before sound check that there was going to be a rather special guest at the wedding. I say we, what I mean is, me, the singer and the drummer. Not the guitarist. We decided not to tell him until after the gig as he'd probably sh*t himself. So, right after we finished, we told him. He didn't believe us until the bride went and brought said special guest over to say hi. A thoroughly nice chap he was too. I may consider him for future deps. Only if he can prove he can play a bit, of course. And if he's got his own amp, transport, microphone and good references.......
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby met him during the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour and he was a complete arse, so good to hear he's mellowing! LOL!

Shame I'm not closer or I would have come, being a fellow Guy Pratt/Roger Waters impersonator myself! -
Got to love Pink Floyd Would be interested to hear about your setlist and how it goes

Having just acquired a Little Mark 800 I can say I am delighted. It's light as a feather and has enough power to knock pictures off walls!! It's a digital amp, so if a valve amp is your thing it won't be for you.

Bought a Markbass amp from Harry. Communication was excellent, he went with a different courier than he usually uses as I'd had issues previously with one he uses. When the amp arrived the packaging was outstanding. Deal with confidence, he's a fab guy!

Another one singing the praises! Tom was amazing when I went in. I was after a fretless Ibanez (they had one advertised in the website but when I went they didn't) so instead it was a case of pick a bass I like and they defretted it for me!!! I now have the fretless Ibanez I dreamed of and the service was awesome!

I'd also say that it's not my cup of tea, but how you transition from slapping to tapping is seamless and effortless! Kudos for your amazing skills, skills that many of us (myself very much included) can only dream of.

I'll hug him Sat instead! But will send a huge virtual hug to basschats resident drummer, Douglas. Love you man xx

The equipment is fine and dandy, just not enough headroom for my band. So I have put it up for sale and have bought a bigger rig. So the issue isn't with the gear, it's with me and my band. By having the volume high of my effects board, i was inadvertantly trying to push it further than its limits. When you are trying to get through mic'd drums, 3 singers, 2 guitars, saxophone and keys I just had to come to the realisation that I needed more umph. The kit was perfect in my previous covers band. Anyone interested, the kit is in the amps and cabs for sale section

Went to see Bruno Mars at the O2 yesterday. Amazing gig! However, what really got me was how the whole band danced all night and everyone was involved in dance routines. How Jamareo Artis managed to play bass and dance amazed me! He was awesome. anyone else see them?

There's a pub in Swansea where you play in front of the kitchen, and so they have to walk past you with food orders.... It's tiny, so thankfully not that many food orders The best one was in 1988 where I performed a Christmas charity gig on the perfume counter in Boots in Swansea.... The shoppers were literally banging into you and it got so hot that I actually fainted whilst playing!! The sad thing was I still stayed virtually upright despite being unconscious as there wasn't enough space to have fainted properly! LOL! -
I think anyone who can make you stand up and take notice SHOULD be an inspiration and future bass god, don't know whether it will work out that way. I can think of one basschatter who I have seen play (only on video sadly) that made me go WOW, as he made the bass his own and yet perfectly complemented his band.... And that was Urb.
