1. We are in the process of doing this in our band.... But then we have been established quite a while. We are able to secure a studio for a day for £150 due to our drummers friend, so we will have a promo CD. Photos were taken by my hubby (live ones, rehearsal ones and promo ones). A live video has been put together by our drummer again. Our keys best mate has done our website for us. We share promotion work and have a good deal with a tshirt company. If we had these things done professionally they would have cost us a fortune...... But don't even get me started on the expense of varilights, lasers and smoke machines! I think it is a guage of commitment, but then equally you personally don't want to throw your own cash at something that is untested for you. So I'm slightly uneasy when you are just joining.... 6 months down the line is a different matter!
2. Today I have mostly been learning.... Coming Back to Life - Pink Floyd - as we are adding it to our set list - nice and easy one for me! Gimme, Gimme, Gimme - Abba - for some fast octave work and a bit of slap - much much harder than it would appear and now my wrist hurts from all the constant stretching!
3. Bump..... There must be a basschatter who wants this!
4.
I wouldn't mind being in a tribute band of some kind. At least it would limit all the in band arguments about material
Trust me, it doesn't
5. One day I'll do an 80's band...... basically when I can slap and do dead notes well enough to do it in front of an audience
6. Bump!
7. That didn't inspire me at all.... I think the Violin basses look quirky, but to be honest I'm more than happy with my trusty Ibanez
8. You could come over the Severn bridge into Wales too
9.
Why is this still here? It's a great deal on some truly superb kit!
I have no clue!! I'm guessing people must be skint before Christmas? I really think I am selling it at a bargain price, and I am prepared to travel to do a handover.
10. wish I could be there, but its just a bit too far away Hope it goes well Nige
11. Bump for the weekend.
12. Bump
13. I was allowed to borrow a Cor Anglais for a week from a posh school the next town to allow me to play it in the school production of Fiddler on the Roof. That was as near to a bass clef instrument I got until I was a grown up! No electric instruments in our school apart from two keyboards in the soundproofed practice/composition rooms. And yep, we played Axel F on it too
14.
Ha! I'm the only one qualified for that round here! And before you cite the other laydeez here on BC, let me point out they are all far too young.
Ah you flatter me Shell Sorry you didn't get the gig Milty.
15. Bumpety bumpety. I need to empty my hall before my Barefaced cab arrives, so price drop to £875!
16. I'm finding no time to compose at the moment as life has been pretty hectic! However, I am sat in work with my headphones in and have been listening to all the tracks whilst doing a particularly dull newsletter! LOL! I'm going to comment on all the tracks: Bilbo - Your double bass playing is quite beautiful, really enjoyed listening EliasMooseblaster - I liked this a lot, really loved the bassline to it. A really relaxing and chilled groove to it. lurksalot - Nice reggae feel to it, with a great carribean feel. The brass surprised me, I was expected steel drums from the intro! Lovely track. 72deluxe - I'm so sorry, I couldn't get your track to download xgsjx - I was transported back to "electric dreams" the film at the intro. Loved the moog style bass on it, understated so very effective. Skol303 - Your compositions are breathtaking good, and this song was performed and mixed to perfection. However, even though you chose the picture it didn't seem to suit it. Sorry Paul, but for that reason alone, you won't get my vote this month SimonEdward - Felt this had a 1980's kind of pet shop boys vibe to it, loved the water sample in the background. the boy - Lovely intro, and great to hear another track with vocals. Loved the harmonica vibe to it. Zenitram - I love the way the track builds. The percussion is lovely. Clever use of little samples. Overall I have been blown away by the standard of entries. We have some really talented musicians on this forum, and listening every month is a pleasure. Sadly, it makes the job of voting incredibly difficult. However, this month my vote goes to...... Simon Edward, this is a track I'd keep playing on my MP3 player. The bassline is beautiful in its supportive simplicity, the lyrics are stunning. Awesome track
17. bump
18. Can I just give a gentle reminder of the 13 rating of the forum, and to avoid politics. Other than that, as you were
19. Amazing track Nige.... Gutted not to see you in the video..... More gutted that you passed me and didn't call in for dinner I love her videos they are always so fun
20. Bump ready for the weekend.... someone must want to take these off my hands at the very reasonable price of £900!!
21. Bump
22. Bump for price drop to £900, but I really can't afford to go any lower!
23. Nope no link..... Damn shame, we use a zoom recorder too in rehearsals.... Although our time has timing issues at the moment! (not mine I hasten to add)
24. "Don't do A level music as you need to get a proper job and universities won't like A level music" My Mum, in 1990, which led to me making a huge mistake and giving up music altogether for many years!!
