1. Just watched it!! Awesome!! Cyclists, Velodrome, home of British Cycling and a BassChat member!! What is not to love. You looked great on camera Beedster, came across as very professional and down to earth, perfect balance of expertise and approachability! Tempted to take some corn flour before my morning bike commute tomorrow If I get a PB I'll let you know
2.
I wasn't good enough to take the G.C.S.E in Level 42. I sat the C.S.E in Kajagoogoo
Quote of the day
3. Thanks Mark! X
4.
Ok, I think we should all start a pledge to charity of his choice going, if Chris can get the words "Precision" and "Jazz" into his next media interview or piece £5
I'm in
5.
I bet you played above the 7th fret as well. Naughty boy. They'll all expect it now.
Lol!
6. Until you start dressing like the Korean Transvestite Bassist, know that there is always someone more flamboyant at 16th notes and slapping than you
7. Really enjoyed listening to Chris on Radio 5 live this morning, was as giddy as a clam when I realised he would be on... I shrieked "Beedster" although nobody was around to witness this, thankfully! lol Have it set to record tonight, can't wait to see it
8.
I found the trick is not to think about it. You need to be pretty nimble but the sheer tempo of it carries you through. Lock in with your right hand (for right hand players!!!) and the left hand will fall into place.
Yep, my right hand is causing more of a problem than my left at the moment as my natural style is a Jamerson hook style!
9.
I have a very good tab for this from Guitardist magazine that I could scan for you if you like space Chick
Thanks, but I have the dots..... I'm finding half the battle is deciding where best to play the notes for speedy movement! Lol!
10. Learning "Hit my with your rhythm stick". I don't so much feel hit by it as beaten half to death! Norman Watt-Roy is an evil genius bassist and Jon my bass teacher obviously hates me BPM of track 104, I can do 65 and am moving up to 85! Slowly but surely for this brilliant yet killer bassline!! One day...... One day! With playing so much Floyd, I'm really needing to work on tracks with speed, and you can't get better than this beauty!
11. My prized Ibanez SR1000 lives in it's hard case and I take it out to play it. My electro-acoustic is in it's case in the spare bedroom. My old faithful SR300 is on a guitar stand in my living room next to my practice amp, as is my SR300 fretless. Although when my nephew and niece come, these also get put in cases and put in a safe place!
12. +1 on second neck and trusting Martin and the gallery, he is a genius! Wunjos are talented but aren't as much perfectionists as Martin! There again, I was defretting a simple Ibanez SR300 not my prize Warwick!
13. Just get them to rip the frets out of one
14. Beat me to it! I was about to pull the ad!
15. Nah, even if you hit the right fret, the intonation on a fretless is a far weirder science. I like the way you think though. A question if I may, why do you close your eyes and play in the dark.... Surely just one would do the job
16. Just when I decide I definitely can't afford it, I hear John Taylor... My idol... Is on the Sunday Now really battling with myself!
17. On our current set, I have a switch between my fretted in standard tuning, to my fretless for two tracks, then back to my fretted which needs to be drop tuned to D..... It's no issue at all. As BobVBass said, quick switch of a switcher and away to go. I use my GT10b and have a switch to switch basses, tuning also done through the pedal. Can do it all really quickly with no gaps between songs. As long as you practice the switches it's no issue.
18. Sold Marc my Phil Jones bass gear. A fantastic chap and great to deal with and chat to. Deal with confidence! Thanks Marc!
19. Great entries again this month and a pleasure to listen and vote!
20.
Thanks for the support 'Shell! And if you ever fancy having a go yourself one month...? So far Debs has been our only female composer, so it's about time our BC Sisters started doing it for themselves, etc
I feel really guilty that time has been against me recently and I haven't done another entry! I will soon.... Honest!
21.
Or should I be a right feeble nancy-boy ponce and lower it to a painted-on level ASAP? I thank you!
Sweetheart, you are asking the wrong question.... High action, low action.... You'll be a feeble nancy-boy regardless Ok, when I acquired my SR1000 the action was a bit higher than I was used to, however, I found the same and liked what I heard. I have kept the action the same and have metaphorically "manned up" with my playing. Still keep my fretless low though, as well, no frets to buzz
22.
Sounds older than he looks!! Reminds me of Suzannne Vega in tone (hope that doesn't embarass him!!).
I know exactly what you mean Rob
23. Hi all, Thought you may like to hear this young talent! http://youtu.be/bGpJ5MOsDSo Josh is the son of my husbands cousin (God that makes me feel old) I think he has lovely clean tones, and is a quirky young talent! Enjoy!
24. Met quite a few, and they are all gorgeous people. Many are good real life friends now too
25. Great news Shell, whilst its always a bitter sweet, its onwards and upwards for you now.
