1.
Hope you're enjoying yourself Space Chick, that's what it's all about
I am absolutely loving it and wishing I'd done it years ago! There's something quite primal about a good bassline! I had the music shop in stitches yesterday though, as they assumed I was buying the amp for someone else!! I suppose I don't look like a typical bass player!! (Well make your own minds up from my avatar! LOL!)
2.
As for the OP involve the other half. Mines a memeber here too Although she won't even attempt to learn but now she gets GAS too. She wants an Orange rig for the living room and the Black super P dingwall on the Bass Gallery site
He came home from work yesterday and said he was half expecting to see some Marshall stacks! LOL! He was very impressed with the amp though.... But this meant he hogged my bass for a bit (he's a normal guitarist), I told him My bass, My amp, Get ya mitts off! I think when the time comes to get a new bass he will be supportive, but in all honesty mine is fine whilst I'm still very much the beginner I am
3.
And - as a Tuscan saying goes - Death needs to find us alive
I love that
4.
So have you placed a bid yet?
It's buy it now Deb, but I really can't afford a new bass yet!
5.
mdphilips1956 (ebay username) is selling a rather sw*** and very reasonably priced Cort on the bay of e at the moment. Its rather nice.
NNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! My Oh is already going to have a fit when he sees the monster amp in the living room...... I have to say its sounding sweet though Ok have just copied user name.... Off to eBay I go!
6. I've been on this forum less than a week and I have already upgraded my crap little 15W practice amp which is tinnier than a tin can for a Peavey Max 112 proper bass amp There is no hope for me is there???? I am already drooling after some Yamaha basses too, and was looking at the Cort ones in the shop today! LOL!
7.
Cool - at NPTH? I'm a radiographer.... Think we need a Swansea / Valleys bass bash....
I work for Velindre trust now in Communications based in Bridgend, but I used to work for ABM in Project Management.... Not clinical me, but still want to help people!! Bass bash sounds a fab idea
8.

This image was in my head as I was doing my listening homework..... Herbie Hancock! My theory homework is learning my fretboard My practice homework is well practicing.... Everything!! My teacher thinks I show promise having just taken to the glorious instrument, and I dream of a day when I will be anything other than a beginner! Amen to the poster who said they have more enthusiasm than skill
9. Blimey Shaggy, I also work for the NHS and have spent some time in Morriston! Next time you play near me you'll have to let me know
10.
Family are still there; got 'lectric and everything.
Blimey, they're posh Sarah, thanks for that, useful info.
11. My first lesson was AWESOME!!! Had soooo much fun, and am now playing 12 bar blues
12. Welcome I have only just joined myself, but so far am finding it a great forum!
13. There's quite a few people this side of the Severn bridge by the sounds of it! Deb, I will provide an update when I get home after the lesson. (struggling with smilies when on my iPad, so sorry there aren't any!)
14. Great to see other females, as well as all you cool gentlemen Well, I've lost my Saturday to the bass.... OH and I had our first proper jamming session (with an iPad drum kit too).... It was SOOOOO much fun and I held a basic bassline well :-) Can't wait for my lesson tomorrow now! I'm loving this forum so far :-)
15. Deb - His name is Steve Lane and he is based in Morriston. I have my first lesson on Sunday, so I'll let you know what I think. Kiwi - a meet up sounds great Bluejay - i agree that a students attitude is more important than their age, and despite being in my late 30's I am a big kid at heart
16. thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the link Deb After speaking to a work colleague, I have taken the plunge and have booked a lesson with a local teacher that ONLY teaches bass. He said he's been teaching for 30 years and has never had a grown woman asking for lessons!! I will probably only have a few lessons to get me started, but I am soooooo excited. Deb as both of us are South Wales beginners (I'm only Neath, so down the road!) we will have to compare notes!
17. Beatles - Come Together Pink Floyd - Money (I love the way the bass controls the move from 7/4 to 4/4 - genius!) Duran Duran - Rio
18. Hi, I'm Debs, and I have taken the plunge in getting myself a new beginner bass and amp. I have played the guitar when I was younger, but have always wanted to play the bass. So far I am finding the larger frets a "challenge" and am struggling with my dampening... but hey ho, I'll get there Have seen a number of online courses, some free, some paid for. Any recommendations would be great. I'm just looking at being able to play at home, my hubby is a hobby guitarist, so would be nice to play together
