1. Douglas - Lovely track there and welcome to the party. Rob - I think the better recording and soundcloud have made your composing easier to listen to, the timings and punctuation almost in your playing is beautiful. Having some really serious PC problems in SpaceChick HQ at the moment which has stopped me from doing what I want!! Have a few ideas floating around in my head, none of which will be suitable to do on Garage Band on a IPad 1!! That said, whilst I could get the sounds I want on a PC, doubt I have the technical skills to do it justice anyhow
 2. Hello and welcome Ricky
 3.
Any open instrument case = cat magnet Edit: I hope they are not gut strings
They don't need to be open!! My 8 month old kitten sleeps on a closed case all the time
 4.
I may not cheat, (might lie instead )
Nobody would know Dave As long as it fits the picture we will never know if you are telling the truth about it being composed this month! I have a few ideas, but I don't know how I will be able to get them done technically at the moment, if I can't it'll be back to the drawing board.
 5.
great result space chic, give me my software back . You did really well for your first entry, you never know you could bring Skol down from his throne the way you are going
Thanks Steve Although I'm putting it down to beginners luck!
 6.
Lets face it , if advanced bass skills really were proportionate to the size of a penis a player had then I'd be an even better player than I am now ! ( Not really )
Now that is funny That kind of self depreciating humour is also what the forum is about. But seriously mate, there are many women, that whilst in the minority, take our bass playing really seriously and surely we should be treated like any other committed player regardless of our gender.
 7. You've got some spare time on your hands today Nige Loving these random threads
 8. I think your "Good reason" above coupled with your previous comment that advanced bass skills require a p*nis have more than revealed your true viewpoint. Anyhow, I'm sure that was not why the OP posted this thread, and the mild tongue in cheek title thread was what brought me in, and fair play to the girl, she has a lovely tone to her playing. Thanks for sharing. I think discussing the skills of any bassist, regardless of gender, is what this beautiful forum is all about.
 9.
the bass guitar is a very male - dominated instrument , and has always been so , to the extent that there must be good reason for that state of affairs . Just like so many other roles on society , which musical instruments people learn to play is more often than not assigned along gender lines . Women are far more likely to be backing singers in a band than bass guitarists , or drummers for that matter . None of this is coincidence , nor is any of it of my making , so why people seem to want to hold me responsible because I have pointed it out , I am not entirely sure .
You do realise this is the 21st century don't you? Us women have the vote and everything. Hey, you'd better get your pitchfork at dawn as I know a man who plays the flute and piccolo, and god forbid there are men that actually WANT to ballet dance! I took your other threads with a large pinch of salt, but this defence of your comments screams almost caveman-esque sexism. Suggest you grab your club and retire to your cave for a while and consider how you can actually bring yourself and your attitude forward a couple of millennia!
 10. Book marked incase I ever make the big time About it break one though, the band are throwing around ideas for a medley!
 11. Good luck Gary, be sending positive vibes for you xx
 12.
Maybe a lot of the more advanced techniques on bass require a ***** . Maybe that's why the call it " slapping "?
I think basschats very own Mamayo may have a difference of opinion there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqzCC-lCm3E&feature=youtube_gdata_player
 13.
Ouch! Calling Spacechick, Bluejay, Evil Undead!
Sweetheart I wouldn't lower myself to his level And good job us women who do play bass do it for the love of the instrument and not to try and be "alluring" to men. Couldn't give a rats arse if blokes fancy me because I hold a bass.... I do care if I can get their feet tapping to the groove.
 14.
I was going to go for Hull myself....
I know it's not Neath, I don't think we have over a two story building, and we've only just got electricity in Wales
 15.
Yes , I agree . It would be very hard to find a good female servant on Basschat , even if you advertised in the Wanted section . There just aren't sufficient numbers .
I'd serve anyone one of you..... Not with what you'd want with your misogyny mind
 16. Hello and welcome

 22.
how do make an entry? i'm probably being dull... if so sorry. the papabull
You'll need to wait until July now, then a new picture will be posted. You then need to compose something inspired by that photo, then upload it to the Internet (most use soundcloud)
 23.
Space Chick - loved the story (and the spoken word altho I got a soft spot for the accent : ) and if thats your 1st attempt I look forward hearing more - you've set yourself a high standard to follow!
I'm actually amazed how well my track has gone down... I wasn't expecting a single vote, yet I have 10!!!.....I am guessing I've done well this month and will never ever get another vote ever again I'm actually terrified about composing anything else..... It'll be like my GCSE music composition over again..... My teacher loved my first composition and was bored by the rest (although I was going through a baroque waltz phase, only so many 3/4 time signatures that one can cope with I guess) Thanks for the kind comments.
 24. Hope it goes well
