  1. I stuck a single ply matt black plate on my bitsa SBK it was just a copy from China fits ok but holes don`t line up but I wasn`t bothered about that.
  2. I had an E string like that, turned out it was faulty, the inner was loose in the wrap, try a different string.
  3. That Thundergun is an................acquired taste!
  4. What kind of finish does it have? If it`s a natural wood, could you not get matching pickup covers made that would cover unsightly gaps?
  5. I had this Alpher Cobia made for my 50th
  6. I`ve got a bit of a one off headless bass, solid walnut, twin warman mm humbuckers and the hardware from a Westone Quantum. Seriously don`t get the sitting down playing problem, I`ve never had it.
  7. Bought a pickup from Jez, good comms and very quick to post, spot on! Cheers Jeff.
  8. No mention of fan fret 5 string yet or should I give it time? 😂😂
  9. Not everyone has a fully stocked workshop unfortunately or even the space to put one, I`m one of those that just assembles, having said that I`m a happy assembler. 😀
  10. If anyone wanted to try and make a `Rail` I`ve got a Quantum body sat doing nothing.
  11. I recently bought the HB PB SBK body from (Martyn) Bagsieblue to use up some of my spares, things don't always go to plan though, I decided I fancied a matt black and gold colour scheme so basically spent as much on bits than a new HB would have cost but hey ho thats how it goes. Pickup wise I might have discovered a hidden gem, I've installed a Maida Vale Lockdown pickup, never heard of them outside of ebay but thought I'd give them a go, mucho impressed, seems they might have been a limited run as theres only one left now. Shame! Anyway, this is my Hardley Benton.
  12. Mine has to be the Alpher Cobia I got myself for my 50th, Chris even used my birth date for the serial number, to me it`s perfect in every way.
  13. Andy, you ever replaced the truss rod of a bound neck?
  14. My Redsub fanfret has a lovely roasted maple neck, its quite possibly the nicest neck I`ve played in a very long time and it was sub £300
  15. Entwistle pups have notoriously large covers, I`ve had several and they`re always bigger than normal.
  16. It`s dead easy, just get some vinyl wrap off ebay, cut it out oversize then just stick it to it, I usually wrap round the edges of the pickup holes and trim with a stanley blade round the outside or razor, got to be a sharp blade though. You can use a credit card to squeeze out air bubbles and use a little heat if required to mold it round a shape, try it, you`ll surprise yourself how easy it is. Ideal for the HB`s as they`re non standard scratchplates.
