1.
Where on earth do you find these examples? H.G. Wells would struggle finding something this impressive! Wish I had the funds. GLWTS.
That is a beaut!
2. Just wanted to add that I never really got flats (despite having experimented with a few different sets) until I played a mates vintage P bass with some La Bellas on - Total game changer. I immediately got some 2nd hand 760M's from here and after a bit tweaking the setup of my bass they settled nicely and sound/feel great. They needed to 'break in' a bit though. I've just bought a set of 760FS for my Jazz bass and they are great straight put of the packet. Very even across the strings, not 'sticky' as flats sometimes feel and full of lovely thump tone. So, my vote goes for La Bella's - 760M for a P and 760FS on a Jazz. Oh, and 760QM quarter rounds for my Tele Bass.
3. These look intriguing to me, anyone had any experience? https://m.thomann.de/gb/traveler_guitars_tb4p_bass_sunburst.htm?ref=mpd_aa_1
4. I'm sure I had a Trace Elliot once that was close to 120kg, that was only a 4x10!
5. Martin will make you try it out when you pick it up to see if it's how you want it.
6. Or, if you're a bit short on cash this guy has loads of great transcriptions: http://freebasspart.pv24.pagesperso-orange.fr/Bass_Players.htm
7. It all depends how much you like to dig into the strings with your plucking hand. Martin at the Gallery tends to try to get it as low as possible as he mainly deals with / builds very high end basses that can handle this without excess buzz. As mainly a Fender player I prefer a medium action as I like to dig in a bit. But to answer your question generally a lower action equals more playability.
8. Si, have you tried a Pearl OC7? or the Foxrox Octron? Both these analogue octave ups have intrinsic distortion to create the upper octave.
9.
Doesn't it have a foam mute on it, that will engage with the strings if rotate the other way round?
Yep, thats it. - If the foam is still intact.
10.
'Resistance is futile'....
Stop it, I'm weakening too!
11. Not mine, but I'd never seen one in LPB before apart from the original CV's. Looks good, refin? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Telecaster-Bass-1972-CBS-vintage-Fullerton-/281985140276?hash=item41a79fc634:g:5ikAAOSwZtJW-t6k
12.
It's hard for any pedal to match that tone, but I actually got pretty close with a Zoom Multi FX set up with a BB Preamp boosting into the Ampeg sim. Sounded mushy and unusable with fingers but worked well with a pick! A used VT Bass is a good option for around £80.
+1 VT Bass should get you close.
13. As suggested above - if it is a Wick I would get a full refund. The truss rods can be problematic (depending on which year your bass was built) I had trouble with the key not catching on a Wick once and it turned out the threaded part of the rod was pushing the key out so it wouldn't catch. This could be due to underlying neck issues.
14. This is by far the best chorus I've ever tried for bass. http://www.providence-ltd.com/products/effector/abc1.html
15. +2 more pics please
16. Yeah, I'd like to see a few other finishes too. TBH I quite fancied one of these in plain old butterscotch.
17.
£0 if you order from the right shop!
Ooohh, Do tell.
18.
Or you could just get one from the US for around £200...
Whats the import duty like?
19. This looks promising: https://m.thomann.de/gb/tech_21_bass_fly_rig.htm?o=27&ref=mm_a_27&search=1458488239 £300 feels more reasonable.
20. +1 I've just had a few repairs done by Martin @ The Gallery and the service I have received has been second to none.
21. Yeah - as above, you need to save them consecutively.
22. This probably tells you all you need to know: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/279940-squire-classic-vibe/
