1. Much obliged to you all for your answers.
2.
The late Bob Brozman used an sm57. If you need to use a mic, a dynamic is a better bet. Either a Shure sm57 or a Beyerdynamic m201, as they're more resistant to feedback. The alternative is to fit a Fishman resonator pickup system.
Thanks for the reply, We'll try an SM57.
3. I still have ceramic speakers (albeit single 12"s), and have a class D head, although I mainly use IEM theses days which keeps things very light. I'll also admit to preferring lighter basses too when gigging. I'm also well chuffed to just make it into the 31-40 age group
4. Great thread, loving these tracks!
5. Do you have the original pickup?
6. Not a bass but, I was wonder If anyone could give me a few pointers. I'm playing a few duos with a great guitar player who has started using a lovely National resonator. We're struggling to get a nice tone, even volume and minimal feedback using a rode NT5, how can we improve the situation either via eq or is there a better mic we should buy?
7.
I have a great 210, I just reckon 2x 110s would be even easier to get around and would also give me the flexibility of taking just one for acousticy type gigs. ... it's just GAS really!
You don't need to tell me, since I'd played them I've been GASing for a solitary ONE10. I even took it on the tube to a few gigs and it was a breeze. Taking a pair to a gig (in a car) is very manageable. I already have the MB200, just need to raise the funds to put in the order and match discreets rig.
8. @CamdenRob you could always get a TWO ten. I borrowed one of those too and it was brilliant as well. And you'd have no amp overhang! +1 on discreet saying it isn't all mids. The low end is fat, I found myself rolling off bottom not adding it.
9. I bought a Steinberger Spirit XZ-2 bass from Martin. It was exactly as described, posted exactly when I wanted and packaged to survive a bomb blast. Great comms and a pleasure to deal with throughout the whole process. Highly recommended.
10. I've gigged a pair of these for a while (on loan from Barefaced) one cab was plenty for smaller restaurant gigs using a mark bass f1 (250W at 8ohms) and I used both on bigger gigs, and they great. Plenty enough 'heft'😄. They are such efficient cabs I'd expect the MB200 to be fine for most gigs.
11.
thanks!
Just looked - I have a genuine Fender 51 reissue Pickguard and a CV 50's P bass. Unfortunately the Fender guard won't fit without some modding. I would try to find someone on basschat who can make you a replacement from your original that will fit exactly.
12. I have both, I'll try and have a look tomorrow.
13.
I've got one of those for my VF-1... it's currently out at a mate's studio and I won't be over there again until next week. I might just have the second screw that came with the rack tray tucked away in the VF1 box though, which is at home somewhere. I'll have a look when I get home
Thank you, a very kind offer. I have plenty of the correct size now though.😄
14. Success! 3rd time lucky, it's an M4x8 pan pozi screw should anyone else need to do the same. These fit the VF-1, SE-70, and the Boss Microrack series.
15.
After some delving around on the internet for a while, I discovered that the Roland TD-5 uses a couple of M3x6 screws to attach to a RAD-50. I have ordered some and a few washers. We'll find out in a couple of days if it's the correct size.
Nope, these are not the ones either. M4x8 are the final ones I'm going to buy and then it's just getting gaffered to the tray!

17. They have arrived and are not the right size😟 These seem tiny, M3's needed perhaps?
18. Yeah, I have a limited run short scale version, as above it sounds great but, is best played sitting down due to the neck dive.
19. That sounds right to me. Watch this series of vids by John Curruthers, It explains the full process. https://www.youtube....h?v=te44eWXd9pc
20.
http://www.guitaraid.co.uk
+1 I've used them for a couple of pedal repairs and they were great, I highly recommend to all.
21. Right, For future reference I ordered these: M2x5 pozi pan machine head screws https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/361516262481 I'll post the results when they arrive.
22. Good call, I will.
23.
IIRC the screw length is fairly short - as the indent in the rack tray plays a large part in holding the unit in place.
Agreed, Having measured with a cocktail stick as suggested, the hole goes right thorough to the other side of the case, suggesting there is also a hole in the main pcb. That said, I think 10mm would be more than enough. I'm assuming something like this will work: https://www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk/en/products/m2x10-pan-pozi-machine-screw-mild-steel-bright-zinc-plated-din-7985?utm_medium=google_shopping&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=google_shopping&gclid=CjwKEAjwgPe4BRCB66GG8PO69QkSJAC4EhHhRMIeZwuFikz8HogWlMG0Tfe2h2Ug1eXpYTkIB0pn9xoCcWjw_wcB
24. HI Matt ,thanks for your reply. I have an old Alesis unit that uses a similar system and it does have the screw size stamped into the case, so good call there. The Boss units I have don't have anything stamped into the chasis. On measuring it, it appears to be 2mm in diameter. Good advice on finding the length too.
