1. Or, if you're a bit short on cash this guy has loads of great transcriptions: http://freebasspart.pv24.pagesperso-orange.fr/Bass_Players.htm
2. It all depends how much you like to dig into the strings with your plucking hand. Martin at the Gallery tends to try to get it as low as possible as he mainly deals with / builds very high end basses that can handle this without excess buzz. As mainly a Fender player I prefer a medium action as I like to dig in a bit. But to answer your question generally a lower action equals more playability.
3. Si, have you tried a Pearl OC7? or the Foxrox Octron? Both these analogue octave ups have intrinsic distortion to create the upper octave.
4.
Doesn't it have a foam mute on it, that will engage with the strings if rotate the other way round?
Yep, thats it. - If the foam is still intact.
5.
'Resistance is futile'....
Stop it, I'm weakening too!
6. Not mine, but I'd never seen one in LPB before apart from the original CV's. Looks good, refin? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Telecaster-Bass-1972-CBS-vintage-Fullerton-/281985140276?hash=item41a79fc634:g:5ikAAOSwZtJW-t6k
7.
It's hard for any pedal to match that tone, but I actually got pretty close with a Zoom Multi FX set up with a BB Preamp boosting into the Ampeg sim. Sounded mushy and unusable with fingers but worked well with a pick! A used VT Bass is a good option for around £80.
+1 VT Bass should get you close.
8. As suggested above - if it is a Wick I would get a full refund. The truss rods can be problematic (depending on which year your bass was built) I had trouble with the key not catching on a Wick once and it turned out the threaded part of the rod was pushing the key out so it wouldn't catch. This could be due to underlying neck issues.
9. This is by far the best chorus I've ever tried for bass. http://www.providence-ltd.com/products/effector/abc1.html
10. +2 more pics please
11. Yeah, I'd like to see a few other finishes too. TBH I quite fancied one of these in plain old butterscotch.
12.
£0 if you order from the right shop!
Ooohh, Do tell.
13.
Or you could just get one from the US for around £200...
Whats the import duty like?
14. This looks promising: https://m.thomann.de/gb/tech_21_bass_fly_rig.htm?o=27&ref=mm_a_27&search=1458488239 £300 feels more reasonable.
15. +1 I've just had a few repairs done by Martin @ The Gallery and the service I have received has been second to none.
16. Yeah - as above, you need to save them consecutively.
17. This probably tells you all you need to know: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/279940-squire-classic-vibe/
18. Just bought a Focusrite Forte interface from Ian. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with and it was delivered in lightning quick time. Thanks again.
19. I love the CV basses. I now just gig CV's (a 60's P and a James Johnston J) and all the expensive stuff stays at home. With my MIJ Fender basses I would always change the pickups and pots, no need with the CV's as the stock Pups are great - Buy it! The guitars are excellent too.
20. Just my two peneth: I've bought the Korg Pitchclip, TC Polytune clip and the Planet Waves nano. For me the best of the 3 is the Korg. The TC works great on guitar but the poly tuning is redundant on bass and it struggles to track my E string let alone a low B. The Nano I found too small and the proof of that is that I managed to loose it - worked well until then though. So given that the Korg tracks all my bass (4 and 5 strings) no problem and is considerably cheaper than the TC it gets my vote.
21. I've been using a Micro POG, sending the dry signal to my amp and then the octave up to a Zoom G1on. Maximum flexibility, loads of options for guitar-esque tones. There's even an organ sim in the Zoom that gives you some cool textures too. I also put a tuner in each of the two signal paths then I can mute either my bass signal or the POG oct up.
22.
The Pod X3 Live has both guitar and bass as well as vocal pre amps. I don't know if the XT does it but the X3 has two completely separate signal paths which you can use as a bi amped type setup with clean bass through one channel and effects through the other, I really like this feature.
+1 it makes the whole unit so much more useable than the XT.

True, the possibilities are endless. The Precision sounds I quite like. And the Rick. The one I struggled with the most was the Hofner. That said, given enough time I could probably find a way.
