Made by a chap called Clive Cherry...who made a short run for Ashbory/Bass Centre and then got an offer he couldn't refuse for his premises and closed up shop. I was after one of these for a long time!
Clive is the guy that gave me the pre amps. Top chap; a wealth of knowledge and experience.

I remember picking up the flyer (pictured at the bottom above) from the Bass Centre in the 90's. If memory serves it has Doug Wimbish wealding the Ashbory on the other side. I later met one of the builders of the Mk2 Ashborys, who gave me a few spare preamps and all of his spare silicon strings he had lying about in his workshop. I was into building pedals at the time and planned to put the pre amps into pedal boxes. The strings were unfortunately totally perished and so were consigned to the bin.

I really like mine, as you say the neck is great. I would have a good go with it first though as it sounds a little different to your usual passive PJ. Not in a bad way, just different. Price seems fair to me too.

Well compared to some of you lot I have a pretty streamlined selection: Markbass F1 GK MB200 Line 6 Studio 110 Ampeg B100r x2 Ampeg V4B '76 And a pair of Bergantino 12" cabs Thats it, although I do have many pre's and effects boxes that'll act as pre's if need be Oh, and I have a couple of power amps too: SWR SM800 and an Ashdown ABM APM 1000. Gosh, that's more than I thought
What are the Overdrives and distortin like on these?
I think they're very good, saying that, I'm not using tonnes of distortion, more just warming up with slight OD. I do have a Big Muff patch which seems really good.
What abut tracking on the octave stuff?
Very good, the bass octave model (based on the EBS octabass) is spot on, and I'm a bit of an octave snob, so I dont say that lightly.
Decent envelope filter?
In an ideal world I'd like more control of the parameters here, but with EQ and compressor tweaking it's possible to get decent filters.
What's the 4 cable method? Effects send and return?
See here: http://www.dawsons.c...-guide-benefits

I've used unrealBook for a few years now. https://itunes.apple...d370135173?mt=8 You can take photos of existing charts or upload PDF's. this can all be arranged into setlist a for each project. I also like the ability to draw over the top so if you have a different arrangement, need to add a cue or spot a mistake in the chart you can easily scribble notes. I've even done this mid gig between songs. I've transcribed everything in Sibelius over about the last 10 - 15 years, so it was really easy for me to convert the charts to PDF and then upload then to unrealBook. Also, for simple chord charts I use iReal pro. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/ireal-pro-music-book-play-along/id298206806?mt=8 It's well worth learning how to make your own charts within this. The bonus here is if you set up the form of the song correctly you can use it for play along too. The transpose feature on this has saved me a few times too.
