Bought a deco HB Uke bass from him. Was a perfect deal and he was very accommodating after my plans changed last minute. Top guy to deal with, highly recommended.

Thanks for all the positive comments people. I guess the bass and drums are very much linked, I know I often listen to the drums on a track before the bass. I'd love to have another go, but this time with a bit of prep - a few stock fills and some stuff to end songs with would have really helped.

I've been a gigging bass player for over 25 years, but I've never once played a gig on drums..until last night. Due to a mistake by the agent I somehow got booked onto my regular gig (a blues trio) with two guitar players and me. Trying to work out the best way forward, and after much chin scratching we realised that one of the regular drummers had left a full set of cymbals and some sticks. We set up the house kit and it was decided that one of the guitar players would play my bass and I'd be on drums! i'm no drummer, but kept it really simple and after a fews numbers settled into my new role. I actually really enjoyed it, by the end the gig we had people up dancing and even took a few request. Perhaps I've missed my calling?

[/quote] This is pretty much how I set it up, small tweaks to taste on the gig. I'll use the amp to Eq the room and keep the Flyrig as set in the pic. XLR out from the Flyrig goes to the desk. I keep the Sansamp stage fairly clean and always on, I'll add a slight drive with the boost if need be. The compression is quite subtle just to fatten things up a bit:

[/font][/color] [/quote] I would say if you've tried the SS jag and you like it, get it. A few of my students have these and they are great little basses. I would also add that Yamaha make excellent basses, so you won't go wrong with one of those either. If you like PJ's the BB basses are fantastic.

Even compared to a 32" scale, the 28" scale feels flappy to me.

[/quote] I have a P Bass Jr which is a similar scale length to the Snapdragon. It certainly has an inherent floppyness to the string tension, particularly if you are used to a standard 34" scale instrument. I guess that's the payoff for such a portable bass.

Several more gigs under the belt with the Flyrig, still enjoying it. Here's a pic from my gig last night - Squier Silver Series P with a few mods and Jameson Labella Flats -> Bass Flyrig -> GK MB200 -> monitor wedge (supplied by the venue). Minimal, but perfect for my restaurant gig in town:

I've got one, it'll do what you want ,although I find it tends to work better with chords Than single notes.

I'm seriously considering one of these, can you post any audio as the only demo I can find the player is playing over the neck. Would love to hear what it actually sounds like.

5th gig tonight, outdoors - brrrr, its cold! This time Yamaha 1025, large PA, IEM's. Flyrig was awesome, I feel like I've got the hang of the compressor now so had that switched on all night. Used the chorus for a couple of tunes. Even punched in a qwacky octave down for a few sections. Overall I'm really happy with the Bass Fly Rig, money well spent.

4 gigs down now, this thing is great. Really enjoying the portability and fantastic sound. Also enjoying irritating my guitarist by tuning up with it. - it's the pedal that keeps on giving.

So, 2 gigs down. Playing Blues, R&B and a little Bluesy Jazz with a P bass straight through the BFR into the FOH via XLR. Using a 1x15 monitor wedge supplied by the venue for foldback. First gig with new gear is always a learning curve. Went for an SVT type sound, and pretty much stayed with that, no compression. It coped fine. However I wasn't entirely happy with my sound, but it was OK. Gig 2 tonight and I had a bit more time to properly play with the eq. The controls are highly interactive and after much tweaking settled on something closely resembling the Fat Tube sound in the manual. Really happy with how it sounded. Added the compression in too - very lightly, to even things up a bit. So far so good.

Just picked up a BFR today. This is going to make my gigs (and getting to them) a lot easier. I shall report back after some real life experience.

Yep, my 50's CV has Labella heavy flats (the Jameson set) and is fine. So have several other Squiers I have, all fine. you'll be OK. Obviously I had to adjust the setup, but once I had all good. As Marc S says above the CV's are very good quality basses and can be setup with whatever strings, action etc. you want.
