1. If he got Vanderkley's make sure you lift them, they great for bad backs
2. The one's to avoid are the one's you don't like the sound of. Not being being funny, but its YOUR ears your buying for. If they happy then thats all that matters. Have fun and the cafe in corner does a real good sausage & bacon sandwich BTW.
3. Why the hell do I want this, I don't need really need it. Please sell quickly, it's a bargain
4. I went with the 2 seperate 1x12 cabs, "yeah" it sounds better with both, but it's great that I can grab just one, it'll fit in any car or any taxi. This is particularly usefull when going over a mates for a jam and beer session, you can even leave there too, as you still got one at home for playing through.
5. You can get at the back of the speaker with a guitar cab, but bass cabs usually got sealed up backs making it easier to fix the speaker from the front, that's my thinking
6.
I've Both, Shuttle and Streamliner both 900w! I use the Shuttle in Blues/Rock bands, and the Streamliner in Country bands! I use 2x Bergie HD210 cabs, I think it's a matter of 'pay your money and make your choice' saying that I do prefer the 'older/warmer' sound of the Streamliner, it's probabbly due to the 3 pre-amp valves! Still can't fault either amp though!
Great statement, I had both and kept the Shuttle, the Streamliner was way too bottom endy for my liking so i'm still looking for an alternative to pair with the Shuttle. "Horses for courses"
7. Jazz = more variations in tone = more nasty tones = be carefull = OK in the end
8. Loving that quilted maple
9. Excuse the dumb question, but is the back of it supposed to have all that paint scraped off?
10. I love'em too, using the TI Jazz jobbies at the moment, tried Chromes first but prefer the TI's, the B is way better. I have a brand new 5-string set of 760FLB LaBella's waiting in the wings too, "just to try for the hell of it". If I don't like them, I'll stick with the lovely TI's, only downside I find with the TI's is the action needs to be a tad high to stop them buzzing but the low tension sort of compensates for this.
11. Fully screened optical cables that have all metal constuction plugs so that they earth properly make a huge difference.
12. Trouble is a SL600 is £589 new. Your better off selling the head & case seperately, then one of the many existing Streamliner 600 & 900 users, might want that flightcase. Just trying to help
13. 8 x 10"s is roughly the same as a single 28" speaker, now that sounds a bit more do-able
14. I do love quilted maple, but thier are better colours for it and gold h/w is a no for me.
15. Lovely bass, I own a close relative, Flamboyant No.008. Whoever gets this, gets a nice piece of wood.
16. It's not growing on me still, reminds me of the aweful 1970's bathroom suites
17.
After much deliberation, I have decided that it has to be RW for me. It just looks 'right' with 3TS and a tort guard. 2012 P-bass here I come? haha.
You have chosen most wisely Mr Jackers
18. I'm with "YouMa", utter brown stuff. Why even bother to pretend? especially if your going to stop playing and hold the microphone, while the bassline carries on,
19. Do you want to stay with this band or not, if you do? fight. If your thinking they are planning to stitch you up, why would you want to staying with them? Try to get to the bottom of what they are trying to achieve with that emaIL?, like some have already said, they may be trying to find out what YOU are planning to do or they may well be planning to boot you out? Find out before you act.
20. If your curious, go try one because they certainly do feel "right" somehow. If you occasionally slide up the dusty end for the quick twiddle, then they are not so "right" and friendly. This just my impression though and with time I'm sure it can be adapted too???? As for the B-string needing to be 37" scale or even 35", it's not necassary because a decent bass with the right set of strings on it can sound spot on at a paltry 34". I guess it's easier to make a "B" sound good at the longer scales and de-tuning becomes possible too?
