  1. Hm. If I were in a predicament like that, I'd simply call my band "From Genesis to Revelation". Another job well done.
  2. Huh? "Joybringer" and "Davy's on the Road Again" and other singles never were hits?
  3. FFS! Fiery Firefly Squad!
  4. - "Is he a No.1 too?"
  5. People's willingness to share knowledge, as exemplified by @ead's explaining that if you mix yellow with green, you get orange! 😉
  6. There you touched on my mentioned element of sadness: One might think some people act for their own sense of enjoyment and achievement - whilst actually misunderstanding their posts and motivations. I see (very few!) sad examples of this, where people unjustly hold a grudge against certain others for years after having totally misunderstood. It saddens me, but is not defining for my overall enjoyment of BC.
  7. 1) You should be sleeping right now. 😉 2) Yup, and I have one person on ignore for that reason, and previously had one person on ignore coz he only was here to try and sell his products (I think he's gone). To me, BC is not the perfect forum, with perfect people, but simply far better than should be expected, and, to me, the best. If that sounds too rosy, I have had moments of great sadness also on here. But in balance...
  8. I feel it's relaxing to realise that 50% of people are below average. It makes me expect less, and I get frustrated less. Yes, people in a role with some authority maybe should know better, but they don't. Only real example off the top of my head was Krzysztof Penderecki telling me over a cup of coffee: "I am more musical than you are". He really should've known better. 😐 🤣
  9. Maybe you're joking, but that very aspect always stands out to me on here: virtually no need to use it. Been on fora for keyboard players (from synth to pipe organ), guitarists and drummers, and those fora were invariably insufferable without heavy use of the ignore button. Not so here. Born as a keyboardist, I do think the bassist thing has something to do with it, but probably also the Britishness thing. Not that bassists and Brits are "better", but to me there is something with their style when disagreeing - something we call "roundness" in Norway. Dunno if that translates well, but guess you get it.
  10. Well, that went well. 😡 So, just to help some people, I break all my ethical rules and "like" the page of an unknown-to-me band. Then Facebook immediately gives me my receipt: "You probably know Silvia" and "You probably don't know Jack".
  11. Nearly literally what I, and I guess others here too, have experienced: someone with command over something (rehearsal room in our case) trying to decide in musical things, or else... 😡 (Yes, I left. Sadly the other two didn't right away. Luvverly they were too, and stellar musicians.)
  12. Not a Black Friday deal per se, but as a Black Week deal, they don't come more convincing than this one: On the following page, you can get a £100 donation for a mere £10! That's a 90% discount!
  13. I was a sacked drummer once. It went well. Cancelled their gigs and lots of other fun stuff. Salt of the earth we are, drummers. Seriously, I feel your pain from experience. Good luck!
  14. It is to my ears too. Apparently it was made by our local "BBC", called NRK. It probably was broadcast at one point. Which reminds me: we lived in times when it was possible for national TV to give us for example a one hour prog gig... ...on Saturday... ...at 8PM. Whoa!
  15. It would be interesting if you said more about why you ask the question. They're indeed a local band, and lack both large studio budgets, studio experience and a wide compositional scope - or depth for that matter. Not that I'm criticising them for it; one is what one is. As @NJE says, it's a bit generic sounding, and if they wish to develop, I think they do need to have harsh looks at these songs, and find out about how to improve them. The singer's not wrong to me though. I think this mainly is about lack of experience and lacks in production and mixing. Both singer and rest seem to me to be slightly overwhelmed by the studio situation, and for example the drummer seems like one who accompanies rather than one who drives. I'd love to play with that person though. Live, they indeed might be a lot better. Of course, if this is a band with 60 years of experience behind them, then I'd say "Carry on!", and scarper.
  16. Nice. If you're interested in checking them out, the first four of these five tracks are from their '76 album "Where Do We Begin".
  17. Methinks he made many luvverly albums under his own name as well as with The Group, and I also love much of the Wigwam stuff - a lot. That said, listening to his albums, and I think I've got all of them, I tend to feel a longing for something slightly more adventurous. Fun fact, in the late seventies or early eighties, I played in a Dutch band called "The Group". We were so famous that we sold at least 13 records, maybe even more than 15, and when I once told some Dutchman our band was called "The Group", he looked at me in awe and went: "You play with Pekka Pohjola?" Well, it's one way of hearing about a musician you later learn to appreciate! 😄
  18. Aye, and even called that: "Made in Finland", though not officially. 🙂
  19. Thought some of you might enjoy Swedish prog/fusion/folk band Made in Sweden playing live. Pekka on bass, but I think they were all good musicians. From a 1976 festival in Ålesund in Norway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63f2Wl5UIGQ
  20. Evil 9 Sorry, couldn't resist. Coat is on. Door is open; will close it behind me.
  21. Yup. That's why I kept silent (unbelievable that I even managed, I know 😀). I think it's a good idea to put many copies of the document in that envelope, as some offices will need a copy for their bookkeeping. I've been advised that six copies is good, and that number does indeed follow the logic of the exporting and importing process, but I often find many copies still in the envelope. All of that said, @owen, the most stupid thing you can do is to send a bass to Norway. The smart thing to do is travel to Norway and take the bass with you. That way you get to visit Norway - an awesome country. I visited Norway once. As a result, people at my workplace in Holland are wondering each and every day whether I will turn up.... ...and have done so for nearly 36 years.
  22. Good if it doesn't happen in the UK. Just for clarity's sake: in Norway, if the number then is suppressed in the app, the bank can't reach others who have installed the app; those others can still reach the bank. Then somebody needs to notice this, and contact the app developer to get that number off the kill list. This thing of course is not only an annoyance; it can also have important negative consequences. In the case of my colleague for example, he bought my last stock cheaply off his last money, but never received the goods. Him not being able to reach me may have contributed to his going bust some months later.
  23. I'm a simple guy. I just want more of your posts . . . . and your wallet.
  24. That part is slightly worrying to me. In Norway, and I guess in other countries too, people report scam call's spoofed phone number, and that number consequently is suppressed in the anti-scam app. Result: innocent rightful number owners then can't call to people with the app. I had a colleague who was the victim of that. He tried to call me for months, and both of us were unaware his number was in the kill list.
  25. Ah, but then again, you's brilliant despite the picture. 😄
