I really love the look of this bass and have agonised over it but as woodinblack says you cannot try one. The neck is the unknown quantity here plus I prefer maple boards but the latter wouldn't put me off if it had a very low, rattle free action.
Tricky this.

If anyone is interested in this and is local to me (RH19), you're welcome to try my US version to get a feel for it, they both have the same electronics and neck woods.
It helps with my lot that we are all well aware we have "sold out" and so pick songs that we think punters want to hear, rather than songs we listen home.
Which is why my current suggestion list has Olly Murs, Meghan Trainor, Jessie J, Katy Perry and a Grease medley on it rather than the obscure doom I listen to or the 90s grunge the singer likes.
Fortunately, it's a lot more fun playing these songs than it is listening to them
Lol, I've just bought an HD350 which is a very fine amp and the second best amp I've ever owned. Another Fafner is a little out of my price range at the moment, may go back one day though

Before I even finished reading the OP this is what I had in mind!

3.5" floppy? Are my 5.25" disks now obsolete?

Not if you work for the US Military's nuclear weapons division

I know a few of these already, had a few Blues Brothers tracks on my practice list for a while, some more good suggestions coming though, thanks for those.
JTUK, you're probably right, getting more familiar with the material will help, I've got a compilation somewhere I'll move into the car.
There's nothing inheritently wrong with production line instruments - my G&Ls are and I love them.
However in this price bracket it's an inefficiency - I'm paying a higher amount for a lower skilled (or at least perceived lower skilled) activity, so all I'm doing is contributing further to Mr Ibanez's bottom line.
This is all academic however as I don't have £2k to spend on a bass and if I did and I picked up a two grand mass produced bass and felt it was the right one for me, I'd have it. It's just that on paper it shouldn't cost that much.
Looks great, I do agree though, like Warwick it's hard to justify that sort of price for a production line built instrument.
It's funny I've not had GAS for a 5 string Ibanez since I was about 17, but I'm lusting after an ATK 805e at the moment

We'll be hooking the pub's TV up to the PA and then finishing at five to twelve so everyone can watch the countdown and fireworks on the TV and then back on after twelve with New Years Day by U2.
It'll be our third year in a row at a pub in a small village just outside of town, they must really like us
Should be three x1 hour sets, probably kicking off at 9ish and finishing at 1ish
Yes, will sell at the moment (there's a cab I'd like to buy)
PM'd you
Edit: another photo from a Christmas gig the other night

No basses in or out, my two G&Ls cover pretty much everything I need from a bass perspective (famous last words right?)
But other kit:
Out:
Genz STM 900 (not actually shipped yet)
Sansamp BDDI
In:
EBS HD350
Behringer VAmp Bass
What have I learned? I'm an EBS man at heart
Our singer is going round the world for six months from the start of January, so the number of gigs I'll be doing will drop off substantially; as a result I'm looking for more dep work.
I'm familiar with most rock and modern pop songs that bands often play, but less sure about Motown/soul - what would you recommend I learn in a bid to be ready for these sorts of gigs? Cheers
The bassist from the band we used to tour with had a classic 6x10, sounded fantastic with either his Little Mark Tube or my Fafner.
I've PM'd you the email address of the bloke with the 3x10 chief.
Done a couple of gigs with it now and really like it
I will need to change my cab though, the Compact worked better than I expected, but the amp is effectively handicapped at the moment by not playing into a cab with a tweeter, the bright control currently does nothing
