1. Last night we were at The Crows Nest in East Grinstead, they'd stopped doing bands for the last year or so, and this was the first official night since they've started putting on bands again. Pretty quiet for the first set, a lot of people didn't know they'd started putting on live music again, plus we were due to start ten minutes into the second half of the Champions League final, which didn't help. Second set was a lot better though, fitba had finished and fair few more people turned up, went down very well and the landlord was pleased, there's a video on Facebook - anyone know if there's a way of getting that onto YouTube?
2.
I don't suppose anyone knows of a good dedicated bass guitar store in the London area? The places around here are all far more focused on guitars of the six-string variety so its kind of hard to try before you buy.
The Bass Gallery in Camden is dedicated to Bass, Wunjos isn't I don't think but has a good reputation for bass as does Guitar Guitar in Epsom. Slightly further afield, Bass Gear in Reading is deicated to bass, as is Bass Direct in Leamington-Spa. Andertons in Guildford and GAK in Brighton, though again both cater to guitarists as well, have good bass departments
3. The Troy Sanders model has got to be 34", I've not checked, but I'd be astonished if it's not
4. I was aaking for suggestions for the first dance at our wedding and a mate suggested Where The Wild Roses Grow by Nick Cave I did briefly consider if i could get away with it
5. The Lounge Kittens - definitely worth a watch. I'd also certainly watch Clutch, Corrosion Of Conformity, Muse, Faith No More, Carcass, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies. Edited for pointless negativity
6. If you like Disturbed, Panic Cell are ace, cracking UK band who've now sadly split. Drowning Pool and Soil are worth a look too if you're into that sort of thing
7. It's a full depth case [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20141223_213016_zpsr5nqtxnq.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
8.
It's a funny one... It does little with some amps that they already contain a high pass filter of some sort.
I believe Genz-Benz amps have that, I vaguely remember reading EBS's Multicomp does something similar as well, though it is a vague memory.
9. It's quite attractive, up to the headstocj which just looks out of place :-s
10. Pomperoy sometimes plays with a local covers act, we played after them at a completely dead "festival" a couple of years ago; superb player and a hard act to follow
11.
I could live with dots. The only thing I can find that fits the bill is an MTD.
Lakland 55-01?
12. Barenaked Ladies - One Week - first single I bought Four Star Mary - Pain - got me into rockier stuff Blink 182 - Dammit - moving on from Four Star Mary this kicked off my pop-punk obsession in my mid-teens Electric Wizard - Witchcult Today started my love of doom Emperor - I Am The Black Wizards - and this my other musical love, black metal
13.
I want a twin soapbar 5 string with a maple fretboard and no position markers.
Ditto, though I'd be happy with dot markers
14. I was looking up videos of basses I can't afford last night and came across this; I love it, such beautiful playing http://youtu.be/OW-QGmw-xRk
15. No. 3 for me, I love my G&L, but would like a modern voiced 5-string to complement it; however that's not going to happen this year, see what happens if we get a bonus again next year.
16. Tim Commorford on Bulls On Parade by Rage Against The Machine - brialliant J tone from the bright end of the palate
17. We're playing at The Swan in Crawley bank holiday Sunday the 24th, if you want to bang your head to classic hard rock and heavy metal covers, that's the place to be
18.
It's hard to imagine theres a pickguard that wouldn't look good on that! have to say mint looks a lot better than I would have thought.
+1
19. In my ongoing plan to lean my set-up, I've a four unit Stagg rack case, but only need three units, making the unused space a waste. Anyone want to trade their 3U for my 4? I'm in East Grinstead, RH19 on the borders of Sussex, Surrey and Kent; and given the sizes I'd rather meet up for a trade, but we can discuss shipping if needs be. I'll get photos up tonight.
20. First four Metallica albums for sure, the other big names in Thrash were Slayer, Anthrax, Testament and Exodus
21. Been depping in a hard rock band recently and they play POW by Bullet For My Valentine, christ that's dull. Fortunately the guitarist agrees and it's being dropped soon.
22.
Except I can't not sing Four Horsemen along to Mechanix...
That's the right way round: Mechanix is better played, Four Horsemen has better lyrics
23.
I had a TRB1005 and the sound was incredible but the neck was just too big for me. Such a shame because it sounded great.
It was wide, but not too deep which helped I think - though not like Ibanez shallow, just surprisingly comfortable. Particularly as it had a very flat fretboard and I normally prefer an appreciable radius.
24. Welcome from East Grinstead - looks like there's a few of us in this area
