1. I'm really digging five string Thumbs at the moment - been listening to a fair bit of Mudvayne. However, I can't offhand think of any other basists who play a Thumb, so anyone have examples of albums recorded with one?
2. I found Ampeg cabs sounded really good with Hartke. This is my old Hartke HA1000 into an Ampeg SVT410HLF I had the graphic switched off and used the studio's Neve pre-amp in the FX loop instead, had a Tubetech compressor there as well and a Sansamp BDDI infront of the amp. http://youtu.be/dDqGqeHolJM
3. Those of us on mobile won't be able to see that you're thinking about getting a Markbass CMD15P Jeff Berlin combo
4.
You mean The Resistance?
I do [\embarrassed]
5.
Yeah, much better. I actually thought this was a slight return to form for Muse. Definitely their best since Black Holes...
I preferred Uprising to the new one, but that's probably just me
6. Still, at least it's better than The Second Law
7. Our guitarist brings three guitars to each gig - a Les Paul (or similar, but usually a Les Paul), a Strat or Tele and something with a tremolo. Works for him and he has good tonal reasons for using all three. I on the other hand use one bass, with a backup in it's case off-stage. I find I can get enough tonal variation by changing my hand position and playing style, and sometimes the volume controls on the bass that I don't need a second instrument, and I can go to drop D for the songs in Eb standard, negating the need for another bass.
8.
My mate Terence and the local Islamic worship leader like to test the DAW from Propellerhead by sending it several times around a racetrack. It's Imam and Terry's laps of Reason.
EBS Reidmar

A Reidmar and Neo 1x12 has just popped up on the Bass Players - sell - buy-swap Uk Only Facebook group, the bloke wants £450 for both if that's any use to you.
10. Had a HA1000, great bit of kit - Hartke gear has some of the best bang to buck ratio out there. I used that head to record by old metal band's album, so definitely works for heavy stuff.
11. My hard rock/heavy metal covers band Sent Her Mental are playing at The Anchor in Knaphill, Woking tonight 15/06/15 Covering songs by Sabbath/Maiden/Priest/Motorhead/STP/A7X/QOTSA/Dio etc, it's the place to be if you want to bang your head and sing along
12. I have a US SB2 and love it, but for the styles you mention I think the Lakland would suit them best
13.
Not wanting to spoil the party but in my old band the guitarist had one of the Blackstar combos and he never had a moments trouble out of it, and he`d bought it 2nd hand as well.
Probably because you bought it second had, if it had lasted long enough for the previous owner to get to the point of selling it, it was probably a good one
14.
well theres two of them..... I don't even know how that works!
15. Love mine, had it since December and now have zero amp GAS. The EQ stage is very powerful, making it a versatile head, but overall it's a very clear hi-fi sounding amp. first gig I did with it and a Neo 2x12 the guitarist was very complimentary, said something along the lines of "that's the best I've heard you sonce joining the band, I could hear every note you were playing crystal clear" In the downside, there's no hiding duff notes or poor technique Here's a video of me using it last weekend http://youtu.be/Etaf_j14NeI
16.
It's not mine (unfortunately!) but just saw this on Warwick's facebook page. My Streamer Stage 1 gas is always bad but seeing this has just made it ten times worse! 17. Did there used to be a thread called something like "on TV right now"? Tried a couple of searches but can't find it, so thought I'd start a new one The reason I was searching for it is Led Zep's Celebration Day is on Sky Arts tonight at 9, I won't be watching it tonight, but I'll download it later in the week to watch then.
18.
Nice tone! Just out of interest, what was Plan B if it rained?
Err.......pass, fortunately it didn't come to that The tone is those massive ceramic humbuckers on the G&L into EBS Here's the other video, interestingly I change from active to passive half way through and you can hear a slight shift in the tone. http://youtu.be/Etaf_j14NeI
19.
I've noticed no one has mentioned batteries in this thread except me - has the population of Basschat altered over the last few months?? Or has everyone converted to double bass??
Everyone's playing Precisions these days
20. Open air, public event yesterday afternoon, went pretty well and considering this band do heavy rock covers was very well received. Got a couple of videos, this was the opener, will add the other when it (finally) uploads. http://youtu.be/8omzYNI5SW8
21. Slight thread Hijack, but here's a photo from last night's Conan gig [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20150610_212137_zpslqzlmyah.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
22. I shared that on Facebook the other day, love it I'd love to have one of these one day, looking forward to seeing Jon Davis play one of their guitars tomorrow night.
23. •Have you tried Elixir strings before? Yes, used Nanowebs when I first got an Ibanez, but that was some time ago •What other brands are you familiar with? D'addario, DR, GHS, Ernie Ball, Rotosound •What bass(es) will you try the new strings on? G&L SB2 and a L2000 if they can spare me a second set •What sort of environment will you be playing them in (e.g studio, gigging, practicing) Gigs, home practice (headphones), rehearsal •Why do you think you'll be a good candidate to test the strings? Play in a functions/covers bands so play many different styles and genres. I have tried several string manufacturers over the years, so have a good reference point for comparison •Links to any blogs/reviews you may have already posted (not essential but interesting) N/A
24. Cracking stuff, thanks; added to my play-along Spotify playlist
