1.
Metallica did not, does not and will not ever have Stones money. blue
Ah, but Trujillo is a member of Metallica and presumably taking 1/4 of the profits after other expenses, whereas Daryl Jones is a hired gun playing for a retainer.
2. A friend of mine (and former drug addict) had Perfect Day as her first dance
3. I bought one of these recently, really like it, and at that price a bargain
4. Interesting, fortunately still available for PRS, so don't need to drop Journey from the set-list.
5. Just received a set of these in the post, looking forward to fitting them at the weekend
6. Just send them a polite chaser e-mail to see what the status of the build is; did they give you an ETA when you ordered it?
7.
Ok, count me in for a trial. where's the 50% off deal at?!
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/264169-50-discount-on-daddario-strings/page__fromsearch__1
8. There's probably some truth in that, but it's a lot more convenient to sit down.
9. I wasn't allowed to practice.... [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/FB_IMG_1436375958570_zpsd9nc47m6.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
10.
The sound of our balanced tension sets is the same as our other nickel-plated round wound strings because they are constructed in exactly the same manner, it's more of a feel thing. As others have pointed out the perception of tension depends on a great number of factors, however the BT sets go a long way to making the instrument feel more consistent across the strings. I use the balanced tension sets on my basses and supplement them with singles where I need a low B or high C. I'd recommend giving them a go if you have any interest and you may or may not prefer them, it's a matter of personal taste. I for one really like them, I feel that the low E has a nicer feel and moving between strings on the upper register of the instrument feels smoother as there isn't a big difference in tension between the D and the G.
That makes sense given my previous comment. Incidentall, just had a new set arrive from the 50% off deal, so thanks very much!
11. I really liked them, but found I liked the cheaper Pro XLs almost as much, so buy those instead.
12. Since the birth of his second child, our drummer's time is much more limited than it had been so we're in the market for a new drummer. We have a few deps we use regulalrly to keep us going, but really want a new full time member. We play rock and pop covers - fairly standard pub/club/wedding/party stuff: Bruno Mars, Foo Fighters, Killers, Kings Of Leon, The Monkeys, The Beatles, Genesis, Mustang Sally etc etc. Looking for someone who's reliable, has their own kit, is tight and can groove; we work hard, but have a laugh doing it and all get along well without ego getting in the way. We're based in Crawley/East Grinstead and aim to play at least once a week, though the diary isn't as full as we'd like at the moment as the inger's been away travelling, so taken fewer bookings than usual, but he get's back next week. Last year we were out at least once a weekend almost every week between May and September and still fairly busy the rest of the year. If this sounds of interest to you, take a look at the website www.nakedbass.com and drop me a line, preferably with some links to videos of your playing
13. All things are negotiable
14.
Happy night as well as my son watched me play(he's 7).
It's great when you can do that
15. Me, rather than the whole band. My hair's much shorter these days, so this does look odd now. [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/FB_IMG_1436086596417_zpsmrz9ltwg.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
16. Bit of a write-off last night - worst sounding room I think I've ever played. It was at Warlingham Rugby Club and we were in a sports hall type room - big, high ceilinged with a sprung floor, and as it was a lovely night, everyone was outside - so it was reverb city. Only redeeming feature really was that it was an early start, so we finished at half 9. However, what punters that were still there at the end were happy and we got fed and watered, so there's worse ways to earn a crust.
17. The Crow's Nest in East Grinstead need a band tonight after a cancellation - let me know if you're available and I'll pass on your details to the booker
18. I don't know if it works in the same way as the one on the amp, but Ashdown make an octave pedal: http://www.soundsgreatmusic.com/products/ashdown-sub-octave-plus?variant=818432395&gclid=CjwKEAjw5disBRCA5r7OjsK_-UgSJAC27JPg_Fu7D0Ya3EmXMGS2sFlDyAmSx4kciJyUsF4kVmlPWRoCBWLw_wcB
19. Warwick have a pretty good forum I believe - might be a good place to look for a second hand MEC
20. Yes, I know exactly what you mean - I found the same thing when I started playing music. I think it's why punters will know something is off when a band aren't playing well, but might struggle to tell you what about the performance is lacking Though I guess a more accurate description would be "listening to music as a musician"
21. His left hand technique is superb, he looks like he's barely fretting the note and his hand just dances over thr fretboard. Great feel and note choice
22.
Me, I just don't see myself getting "uppity" about any gigs at this stage in the game ( close to 50 years ).
You've clearly spent too long on this forum, as that strikes me as a remarkably English phrase
23. Just watching that set, he's a cracking player whoever he is.
24. Cheers guys, enjoyed those, I feel GAS building
