I've been rehearsing with Led Zeplin tribute band Coda, but have come to the conclusion that I have too much on at the moment and can't give them the time needed to make the band as good as it deserves to be, as a result we need a new John Paul Jones. The other three guys are really nice, and have really got the Page/Plant/Bonham sound and feel. I really regret that I have to leave this band, as musically and socially, it's great, but I just can't commit the time needed. They're trying to make it as authentic as possible, so if you have the right look as well, all the better; being able to play keys isn't essential (I can't), but it would be a real bonus. The other guys are based in Hastings/Brighton/East Grinstead and have been rehearsing near Uckfield The Facebook link is below, and get in contact with either myself on here, or Simon Wicker through Facebook, preferably with video of you playing. https://www.facebook.com/CODALedZeppelinTributeBand/info?tab=page_info
Sounds like delay to me on warpigs. back in those days people tended to play only what they could do live
Yeah, could be a delay, hadn't considered that

I can hear two distinct basses during the solo in War Pigs around the 3:40 mark http://youtu.be/pf8CuLIOCwc
Free beer would be great if no one is driving, we get that offer all the time and turn it down as we'd only have 1 or two drinks each
Exactly this, typically we all drive to gigs, so beyond the singer having maybe one or two, we're all on cokes and water for the set. Last year around Christmas time I got a lift with the guitarist, as he had to drive past my house to get to the gig anyway and so had a couple of pints on the venue. I found that whilst my performance didn't suffer, I had to concentrate a lot more than usual to play to the required standard, which I found quite stressful. As a result, I wont drink at gigs now even when I get a lift.

There's a specific Digitech Bass whammy Justin Chancellor popularised isn't there? A cool effect, would love sonething like it for playing along with that part of Schism, but I have virtually no use for anything like that normally.

Cheers guys, it's a beauty. Kids are in bed, wife's in the bath, so I can plug it in now; Uptown Funk is surprisingly much easier to play on a 5 than a drop D 4

On a Facebook group yesterday I spotted, an L2500 for sale, I've wanted to pick up a five string for a while, but had planned to wait until bonus season next year to get one. This G&L was remarkably similar to my L2000, but obviously with one extra string. I used to play fives exclusively, but haven't played one regularly for about 8 years, but given how similar this was to my four string, it seemed a safe bet; so my bass went up for sale. A couple of messages later, Paul, who's Kolossusuk on here, arranged a trade and he left my place this morning with the L2000, leaving the L2500 with me. And.......I can't put it down, so looking forward to gigging it next weekend [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/Mobile%20Uploads/20150815_120152_zpsriytudle.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/Mobile%20Uploads/20150815_120158_zpspwv0jkrl.jpg" class="ipsImage" />

In order to buy an L2500 that's for sale here, I'm selling this excelent example of a Tribute series L2000 It's the swiss army knife of basses and can handle any musical situation thrown at it, due to the very clear sounding MFD pickups and the versatile controls. The controls are volume, treble, bass; pickup selector, series/parallel, active/passive/active, with treble boost I bought it as a commision sale from Bass Direct in 2010, and believe it's no older than 2009. I'm in East Grinstead, RH19, on the borders of Sussex,Surrey and Kent. If you have any other questions, or want photos from any other angles let me know [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20150601_184054_zpse9h0yqs2.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/20150601_184109_zpsxbat4tzm.jpg" class="ipsImage" />

Use their gear, carefully, and thank them for it To be honest, I don't really get your position? :s You don't own your own gear, but equally don't want to use other people's? My experience of these sorts of gigs is the venue/promoter sorts out the PA and arranges between the band's who's bringing what cabs and everyone brings their own breakables (which of course means different things to different people)

Dead, the first four or five songs were a paid rehearsal - three people in the venue who didn't work there. As the night wore on, a few more arrived, including a group of slightly worse for wear women in their 30s who at least made use of the dancefloor for a few numbers. This included one lassie who insisted on joining us on stage, so the singer handed her a muted mic and she was none the wiser and quite happy
Looks like a three way Sandberg / Warwick / GL race with active Jazz as an outsider Intresting and useful Shopping time
I think you're relatively close to me, you're welcome to have a go on my L2000 Tribute you fancy it.

Tonight's gig is a 25th wedding anniversary and their son's 19th birthday party. The son's band did a set during their break, where he's the bassist and singer. As it was his birthday he had a cake in the shape of his Ltd bass - hoping for a slice at the end of night [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/Mobile%20Uploads/20150801_213934_zpszyosfppn.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> And the bass it was modeled on: [Img]http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/Ghost_Upon_The_Stage/Mobile%20Uploads/20150801_213952_zpsdimepzys.jpg" class="ipsImage" />

Hysteria - it's such a "look at me I'm a bass player" song and usually empties the dancefloor. There are other songs by Muse I'd much rather do.
Not quite what you're thinking of, but letch away: Yes indeed. and a 5-string - note pickup in MM sweet spot rather than Precision position:
Isn't the pickup on the L1000 in the Precision position, whilst the L1500/1505 has it in the Stingray position?

Off The Beaten Track Covers That Go Down Well

We're going to try out Galway Girl by Steve Earle at the moment, if it goes down well it might be worth looking at Copperhead Road too -
Band logo's are a bit of a thing of the past arent they? it's a long time since I was scrawling Emperor and Mayhem onto my school text books...
As it happens I was listening to Deathcrush and In The Nightside Eclipse at work this morning, alongside some other early 90s BM
This is a real shame - one of the most gifted luthiers on the planet but his business practices are indefensible. I do not think that Celinder is deliberately trying to rip-off anybody, he simply seems unable to handle the customer care element of the trade - crucial where high-end and expensive luthiery is concerned. I'll pm with further details
That seems to be a common trait amongst luthiers - highly skilled, practical, craftsmen, but without a clue when it comes to customer service - Letts basses are another that jumps to mind. It did make me wonder if there was a market for handling the order intake and customer service aspects for a number of small luthiers

I'd never experienced a song literally taking my breath away before, but that's what happened the first time I heard this This Will Destroy You - A Three Legged Workhorse: http://youtu.be/0BSHAXpNey0 -
