1. I've two girls 7 and 4 so well acquainted with Frozen, Love Is An Open Door has a cracking bassline, I'd be interested in finding out who recorded it. Hercules had a really good songs in it too.
2.
They get my vote to, main support for Metallica in one of the first few gigs at the new Wembly. Sound was set up for talica but it was just shocking.
That wasn't the gig I was thinking of - I saw them in Cambridge in 2005/2006 and it was dreadful. Cathedral were the support so the night wasn't a complete write-off. That Metallica show had real potential with Machine Head and Mastodon supporting as well as HIM, but the sound for the support acts was shocking. I'm not sure what it's like these days but I don't think Mastodon's live sound worked in big arenas back then. I saw them supporting Tool at Wembley Arena as well and their sound got a bit lost in the large reverberant venue then too.
3. We're at Crawley Down social club, played there earlier this year with a dep singer and was a good night so hopefully NYE should be a belter
4. Albums Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Mastodon - Leviathan Cave In - Jupiter Isis - Panopticon Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse Frank Turner - Take To The Road Wolves In The Throne Room - Two Hunters Electric Wizard - Dopethrone Book HP Lovecraft collected works Luxury item - My bass of course
5. Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls last night, really good show. Sound at Alexandra Palce sucked a bit, particularly for the support acts, improved for Frank when the room filled up and some of reverb was soaked up by bodies.
6. Emperor, I missed them on the reunion tours as well; I'm hoping they do some more in a couple of years to top-up the pension funds, but Ihsahn seems pretty content with his solo work at the moment.
7.
Last year or the year before I saw Napalm Death support Children of Bodom at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Napalm Death were horrendus! All noise, no definition or finesse.
I've only seen Napalm once (Hammerfest 2009), but they were spectacular; however I appreciate grind isn't for everyone
8.
P.S please SOMEONE buy it to save me from driving to slough and getting another ... im sorely tempted on that advert.
I'm quite tempted myself, Slough isn't too far away and I could use a back-up amp....
9. If you can get to Eastbourne, this might be a good option as they seem to be willing to take offers http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hartke-kickback-10-bass-combo-/121800148108?nav=SEARCH
10.
axel rose download 07 (I think) . Well it was GNR minus everyone but him. Can't even remember how they sounded to be honest. Was too concerned with the way they kept having hissy fits and walking off stage.really Embarrassing the bassist threw his bass at the crowd because he got upset about something. They came on half hour late. Then went off for another twenty minutes. I heard they were upset because the majority of people were at prodigy on the second stage. I wish I'd gone prodigy.
You could have seen both as GnR were late. The Prodigy were great
11. HIM were pretty appalling, though I think the worst was the last time I saw Marylin Manson at a festival, Download '09 I think; just plain awful.
12. Commorford's from Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave; hopefully has something new in the works if he's doing press
13. Crikey, bargain! I have a '95 version if this and it's a fantastic instrument GLWTS
14.
Live - the EBS is in my chain all the time. Studio - never...I'll leave that to the engineer to sort out.
Same, have a Multicomp always on live, when recording I'd leave it to the engineer to pick the best rack/software compressor they thought appropriate.
15.
Some very light ibanez basses out there if you fancy something modern sounding? The L2000 is very versatile and will be difficult to replace like for like.
If yoy really like the tone and options of the L2000, your best bet may be to find a bass with a weight and feel you like, and then drop in a set of G&L pickups and pre-amp
16. Botch - We Are The Romans On a bit of a Boston hardcore kick at the moment.
17. I think ideally they want someone to do it all, but will live with just bass if they can find someone permanent.
18.
Have a look at the 'TC Electronics customer service' thread and all will become clear..
Found it the knobs on the pedal were fine
19.
My experience with EBS customer service & their UK distributor left a pretty bad taste in my mouth, to the extent I'd never use their stuff again. I once bought an EBS Gorm combo which was classed as 'new old stock' - before I bought it I contacted EBS to find out if the warranty would still count because of this & they assured me it would. When the input section developed a fault I contacted them about repairing the amp - the same person who told me they would honour the warranty told me they wouldn't touch it because it was new old stock.
That's pretty sh*tty, hope it's improved generally now; however their UK distributor was particularly unhelpful during all this.
20.
Does the OP need to storm off at this point? I notice Tom has chimed in here too.. Ha!
I've got to confess I'm a bit lost?
21. I gave the drummer your number - might be worth contacting them directly if you've not heard from him.
22.
However, the important question is: is this technical director hot?
Well.....his name was Mats, so I can only speculate
23. A while ago I bought an EBS Bass IQ Envelope Filter pedal on here with a known issue - but given the price I thought I'd take a punt on it. To start with all was fine, but after a couple of months the problem got worse and when you switched it on, you just got silence. My local guitar shop took a look and figured it might be the switch that had failed, they spoke to the UK distributor who were hopeless, so I e-mailed EBS directly and within 10 minutes got a reply from their technical director offering to sell me a replacement switch for 120 SEK (about £9.50). Well the switch arrived, but that didn't fix the problem so I went back to EBS and described th problem thinking that if they'd encountered it before they might know how to fix it, in which case I'd bribe one of the electronics engineers at work to have a go. The reply I got was "sounds like a dry joint on the PCB, if you cover the postage each way I'll swap it over for a spare board we have here". So I sent it back to EBS and yesterday I got it back working fine. I just wanted to highlight this great customer service from EBS for an out of warranty pedal which bought second hand.
24. I suspect with some bassses, the pickups of five string models will be voiced differently to the four string model in order to account for the challenges a low B presents. My current G&L L2500 sounds slightly different to my old L2000 - a little less brash and a little more controlled, though that could just be down to manufacturing tolerances.
25. I'm interested and in Sussex
