1.
Set it up to behave like a 6 string bass through an amp?
Absolutely yes. If you get hold of a copy of the software that goes with it, you can transpose it down an octave, very straight forward. You can also experiment with pickup choice and placement, though you don't get bass pickups there are a lot of things you can do with it. Very versatile.
2.
One/Nil to Peggy Lee
Er, no. One - Nil to Little Willie John.
3. I'm pretty sure that the FC1010 is a programme change controller and doesn't play notes. I have a Roland FC300, which doesn't either.
4. A 'Luxor' jazz copy, looks very Matsumoku . Slightly optimistic BIN I feel. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1972-Luxor-Jazz-Bass-Lawsuit-MIJ-Matsumoku-/322595387244?hash=item4b1c2ef76c:g:s-sAAOSwxxdZa2cV
5. OLP MM22 plus a pre-amp change?
6. The nicest Precision I've ever played was HappyJack's '65. If I had an option to own one, I'd take it.
7. Now sorted, thanks Phil. What an amazing bit of kit these things are!
8. I love my EBS Neo 2x12 so much that when I stupidly sold it in favour of something I thought was going to be better, I had to go out and buy another one!
9. I'm using eneloop and 7-day-shop's own brand AAs, AAAs and PP3s. But not for bass preamp batteries. They seem to be lasting literally years, even for basses I play a lot.
10. No response from the 'Wanted' forum, so I thought I'd ask in here - if anyone has a Headway EDB-1 that they'd like to turn into some readies, please drop me a PM.
11. For folk harps or celtic harps you could try Hobgoblin Music.
Stunning bass, is the fretboard rosewood or ebony
It's ebony. They all are. Have a free bump on me Daryl.
13. The manual for the Multi-amp should include a section listing the MIDI functions which it implements - this is a condition of using the MIDI standard.

15.
Hmm. If you listen to the original version by Peggy Lee you will hear that the bass phrase in each successessive chorus is subtly different from the preceding one. And they raise a semitone each chorus. It seems simple but it's not easy to play. This version sounds how I would probably play it if I was confronted by an open mike singer, ie not very well. Sorry Pete, I'm a bit grumpy this Sunday morning.
Sorry you don't like it, I thought it was pretty good. I'll be grumpy right back at ya and say that the original version was Little Willie John in 1956! Knocks Peggy Lee into a cocked hat if you ask me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y27vBA68Zyk
16. I've always thought that 'Fever' would be a great choice for a bass accompaniment, and this is marvellous playing by Tal Ronen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLTDkiKVxwY
17. With good reason. They are excellent at what they do, and everyone loves that music! I'm a huge fan.
18.
What i have found over many years is that musicians who play in orchestral type situations play exactly what the music tells them to and in perfect timing. That's great for what they are doing. Put them with guys who don't read manuscript and they are out of their comfort zone and don't generally blend with jamming musicians.
My experience over many years, including orchestral work, brass bands, wind bands and many other genres, is that everyone is different. Some of the best musicians I've met for improvising are classically trained. Normally there is a great deal of interpretation, encouraged and shaped by the conductor and musical director.
19. That looks very interesting. Where did you get it from, if you don't mind me asking? Dealers seem to be a bit thin on the ground.
20.
There is a slap guy in or around Ipswich - plays with JS and the Lockerbililes. I am sorry but I don't know his name. May be worth you getting in touch with him if you want to try slapping. PM if you can't find him and I will put you in touch with the bandleader whose details I do have.
That would be Murray Collins. Josh himself is not bad either. The other thing to think about is your setup. If you've been taught and set up by a classical player, it might not be helping you play slap.
21.
There are no slap teachers that I can find in darkest Norfolk, so any suggestions how to get going again, I have not touched the bass for couple of months........
I am not a teacher, but if you are passing by sunny Ipswich I am more than happy to show you what I know, which will probably take all of 10 minutes, ha ha. I'm on holiday for a few days, drop me a PM if you're interested and I'll get in touch when I get back. SubsonicSimpleton, that is an outstanding clip. Got any more like it?
22. Bit of compression maybe, low threshold, 4dB, fast attack, slowest release you can get away with?
23.
Does anybody know of a decent tuner pedal with a display that can be easily seen under bright outdoor light? It may be simpler to make some kind of shade for the tuner, but if there's something out there that works better...
Can't fault the old DT10 in this respect.
24.
Quote from musicmanbass.org: "EB data base refers to this finish as "Special"
Well, they got that right for once! Stunning.
