  1. Possibly the very bass in question, intonation isn't perfect but I've got close enough by moving the bridge around having wound the threads up just above flush
  2. Yeah spot on mate , swapped the string and problem solved , previous owner had the bridge a good 1cm to far forward Re. the bridge, thanks for that , I thought as much ,didn't seem right with the threads sticking out
  3. Yeah I'll take pics , now I've measured the bridge position it was too far forward so I wonder if the string is duff cos previously the spot that was on the saddle is now part of the vibrating string?
  4. Got my chowny chb2 that's the 34" one out today and started messing with the action and now the G has got a mad phasing double note quality to it, should the threads that the circular adjusters go on be up inside the lower part of the bridge cos before they were slightly proud and have marked the top so I thought it that doesn't seem right so moved em up inside
  5. Love this guy , saw him on that sbl brazil vid and checked him out, awesome
  6. Check the solo at 2.35 absolutely stunning, one of my favourite players, Unbelievably I first heard about seth when he depped for me in a ropey function band! Look at him now
  7. I think of scammers as faceless untraceable characters but an actual bloke I have mutual fb friends with makes my blood boil
  8. I can't believe this silly man is doing this under his own name while already in trouble, surely his band mates know? What a silly man
  9. You could map out the structures ,not to read but to get a sense of the form then count like mad til it becomes internalised
  10. I'd never heard of Sean Malone so googled him and have just finished listening to the whole of Focus , amazing bass playing and wow what an influential ahead of it's time album , I'm not a metaler particularly but I loved it , RIP Sean,
  11. I find cos of where the strap button is on semi basses it pushes the neck further away so I'd wonder if shorter scale would be negated by where the basses sits on your body ? I've got a rivoli which I love the sound of but rarely gig cos on a strap it feels like the nut end is a long way away
  12. For me standards are the show tunes of the 20s 30s 40s that became the repertoire jazz musicians used , to apply it to current cover band rep doesn't make much sense to me Re. Preacher man Tommy Cogbill goes nuts on that, he started as a jazz guitarist , it's interesting how much his approach varies, from just laying it down on Aretha's Chain of Fools to soloing with a plectrum over the choruses of Elvis's I'm moving on
  13. I agree with the rest of your post about dangerous far right stuff being given oxygen by the media and Morrissey has said some pretty abhorrent stuff but I listen to radio 4 alot and I've never heard anything like what you've mentioned here , got any examples?
  14. Looks great, don't mod it too much though or it won't be such a bargain
  15. I've heard honk used by soundmen and players from time to time to describe too much upper mid
  16. Killer playing and love the j snarling tone Just worked out the lick at 42 seconds, just a blues scale but made me go ooh I like that I want it in the arsenal
  17. Can a bass with loads of sustain still thump? Is it just a style thing , old school thump of Jamerson or glassy boutique sustain of Anthony Jackson , I know what you mean beedster sustain seems much coveted yet the appeal of the vintage fender sound on all those iconic records has a lot to do with dead strings and the low mass bridge
  18. My dad saw him have a tantrum in a cafe in Selsey and fling his dinner up the wall
  19. Played on once, not my style but it played and sounded great
  20. Got an SVT haven't taken it on a gig for years , used a class d for ages , most of the time it's a DI going FOH anyway and I'm ashamed to say I can't be bothered , I don't kid myself the class d sounds as good but it's just so practical for what I do
  21. Didn't know about these, just listened to Derrick Hodge, inspirational stuff
