Love this , bonus points for the gorgeous black as a custom colour with matched headstock jazz

It appears wood has little to no effect on tone.

Fair enough, so subjective anyway , personally think fret height , neck relief and break angle has far more effect on resonance than different woods -

Doesn't sound identical to me -

I thought re. the bit around 5 mins that the partscaster sounded way less resonant and didn't have the frequency range of the Anderson but the 2x4 sounded very similar to the Anderson , suggesting fretwork and neck joint contact plays a big part?? Not sure what the air guitar bit added to the discussion as it did effectively have a body cos of the contact points, I thought it did sound different, less focused maybe -

Apologies if this one is already in the thread but I thought this was quite a good one as these things go , I thought that the different woods did sound different or was that what I told myself ??, jurys still out for me but I do know 2 seemingly identical basses can feel and sound different -
Just got a sire v7 5 , love it but could do with a touch more relief to get the strings down a bit I think , anyone know what tool it needs , can't tell by looking Ta

Henry Cow Live @ Vevey 1976 on YouTube
spencer.b replied to StickyDBRmf's topic in General Discussion
I don't understand this thread however it's turned me on to Henry Cow and I've been listening all afternoon, love it -
You'll definitely find a lighter jazz , funny how that 2 pounds make such a difference isn't it , I've got a 73 jazz that's 8.5 pounds, they are out there , one thing I've noticed about lighter basses is they're much easier to sell on here!

John Entwistle or Chris Squire, who do you prefer and why?
spencer.b replied to The-Ox's topic in General Discussion
Seemingly similar players , both have an upfront aggressive tone and are very prominent in the music but to me Entwistle is loose and slippery and it sounds improvised whereas Squire's lines sound composed and concise , Entwistle for me -

But you're seemingly offended by someone being offended by a misogynistic comment?

My gig is happening , I play bass for a living and simply can't afford not to do it , it seems crazy to me that that stuff is still on given the amount of infection and they say there's no spike in hospitalizations when's it's up 38% on Dec 21st and intensive care beds are taken up with unvaccinated patients denying others live saving transplants and the like , mad times

Digitech bass synth wah

I've got a CS p bass that was transformed by a shim , it worked fine but just felt it was a bit lacking somehow ,the shim allowed the saddles to come up increasing the break angle over the bridge and POW it now sounds killer As predominantly a double bass player I think that break angle is often overlooked on bass guitars

I call neck pup the front pup, bridge the back , doesn't make sense really does it! Bottom string low E for me

Wow I didn't expect that , it seems to me that the results of any poll like this will be the the players that the most people know regardless if it's best/worst

No but I'm a huge fan

I listened to the recording years ago and assumed Gomez must be a bit of a nightmare but having just read Martin's rider I'm not so sure ???

Beautiful, thanks for the share

I'm obsessed with mononeon , so innovative , technically off the scale without being at all slick , check his YouTube channel if you haven't already

Bout 5 gigs in now and oof they are heavy but I'm gonna break the cycle , if I get some neos it will be as well as not instead of

Yeah the bf210 is voiced very differently to the regular bf but I found it had some of the highs completely missing and the real low end a bit uncontrollable and the mids lacking real punch tbf I play clattery old fenders and I don't tend to get on with ported particularly rear ported cabs , I was impressed with a super compact BF I borrowed but I'm not really looking for transparent with my basses but it sounded killer with a modern 5 string

I had some berg hd's years ago and foolishly sold em and have been chasing that sound ever since , had Aguilar DBs, SLs, BF , Aero , berg neos etc On Friday I saw bd had a pair of second hand hd112s and I had a gig south of Birmingham so enroute I played em and bought em trading in my barefaced 210 ( very fair price from Mark) and wow what a difference , punchy low mids , sparkly refined highs , it's like I can hear myself again , the bf was loud and light but I haven't got any other positives for it , the HDs are heavy but it's like night and day for me
