1. My boys (6 & 3) LOVE the Go Jetters. As do I, well Phon-kay! Takes me back to the t.v. I remember as a 70's lil kid
2. Well, that blew the cobwebs off. Have I missed anything?
3. I'm going for a walk, I may be some time...
4.
memory of a free festival. purely for the chorus. I could listen to it all day!
I have been! 👍
5. Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in your current P.
6. Wow that looks great with the maple fingerboard. Congratulations!
7. I have done this and it's easier and cheaper than you may expect. Once you've taken the bass apart and have the body in hand, give it a good going over with 400 grit wet and dryto let your new colour have a good key to adhere to. Wipe clean and let dry. Couple of cans of cellulose colour finish from Rothko and Frost (their solid colours require no clear Coat👍) If you've never sprayed anything before, just get yourself on YouTube, plenty of step by step advice there. Cost you about 40 quid.

Got one. It's really bloody good.
9.
Those HB progressive basses come up as Dekos fairly often, actually getting one is a different matter. But if you can get one it's a very cheap way of trying out a 5 string.
Mine actually was a deko. Still worth it if you do have to pay the whole hundred quid lol.
10. If you can remember the title of your thread, type it in on Google with 'basschat' after it. Saves loads of time!
11. I've got a Harley Benton HB550 fretless progressive and it's a fab bass. Sounds great. Well designed, lightweight (8lbs) and really comfortable to play. Amazing for such little money and totally gig worthy.
12.
I believe 1964 was a good year for White Nitro but I wouldn't touch White Lightening however!
Ugh. White Lightning. Shudder... Uniting tramps and teenagers since 1990. I'd actually rather drink the nitro! 😱
13.
Cheers! It's something I've considered, but I think I'd rather keep it stock, and sell it and put a new order in.
I completely understand, I'd love to do the same! I'd usually wish the seller GLWTS at this point, but I'm sure you won't need it! AMAZING bass for the money.
14. That body and pup config is lush!! Why not ask a reputable UK luthier (John Shuker comes to mind) to change the fingerboard over to a rosewood one? Might be cheaper and quicker that way. The weight of your bass here is perfect inmo, just a lil job to get it perfect.
15. I got two cans of vintage white nitro and a set of threaded bridge barrels. It's like she read my mind..
16. Owwww! Merry Christmas! http://youtu.be/so9FLfy0mSs
17.
I gave up watching after a few minutes. I think I got the York notes from this thread.
Close. Scott's from Leeds.
18.
I disagree with him on 2 counts really. 1) GAS keeps my stoke up. It's part of the reason I keep playing bass. If I paid zero attention to the instrument and gear I use, I think I would get bored quickly. The same is true of many guitarists I know. 2) I'm lucky enough to have found a bass that just feels 'right' to me, like a comfy old pair of slippers. It took about 5 years chopping and changing to get to that point, but when it did, everything clicked. If it hadn't been for GAS i'd still be playing a 2006 MIM P bass that was ok, but I didn't love it. Did finding the right instrument make me a better player? Not immediately, but I certainly found playing easier and was encouraged to play more. If there was no GAS in the world, it would make finding that one instrument that people just click with very unlikely.
Fair point.
19.
If you can afford it - kids (if you have them) are still eating then go for it. Buy what you want as you're a long time dead
I absolutely agree.. as long as you're experienced enough to know that what you want is actually what you need.
20.
The main message I took away from the clip..which some people seem not to have received.. is that a high end bass, or one especially made for you, is not going to make you a better player.
Thank you. This is indeed the point. My, a lot of Grinches around this time of year!
21.
The rennies of Rock?
😀 I was going to title this thread 'Scott Divine On GAS', but I'm trying to distance myself from substance abuse these days.
22. Wise words in this excellent vid/blog, with a very tasty jam at the end too. Love this guy. http://youtu.be/vT-mLYfiz4w
