1. Cheers dood Shuker sounds good but also sounds expensive! I'll check him out now. 👍 Edit - ooo, £280 for a finished neck it seems! That would be doable. I'll ring Jon for a chat about it. Ta v much
2. I've come to realise that I'm much more comfortable playing chunkier necks these days. Does anyone know who makes the chunkiest (front to back) replacement P necks at all? I'm after a fat unlined fretless. Cheers in advance.
3. I play about 20 mins every evening (wish it could be more) and out at weekends.
4. Aaron Armstrong (son of Kent Armstrong) is your man: http://www.armstrongpickups.co.uk/repairs-rewind-services/
5. http://www.bassstringsonline.com/DR-LO-RIDER-Nickel-Plated-Steel-Round-Wound_c_275.html Takes about 8 days door to door. Never had any customs hassle ether.
6. I'm not a fan of Coldplay but I just saw, via Facebook, their tribute to Viola Beach - the young band who was lost earlier this year in a tragic accident. Fair play to Coldplay, I imagine those boy's families will have loved that: http://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1052839914810632&id=353393028088661
7. Brand new, still in the unsealed box, Dimarzio Will Power Middle P bass pickup. £50 posted
8.
The official video for Dark Necessities is out. I really like it. Playing a pink stack knob Jazz whilst sitting in a sink wearing nothing but blue rubber gloves. Only Flea. https://youtu.be/Q0oIoR9mLwc
Yeah good video ☺. The new album is very good in my opinion. I actually bought the CD after hearing it. Interesting recent interview with Flea if you're so inclined: http://youtu.be/JznhtOIZ0TY
9. The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life. It really is.
10. Congratulations, it looks fantastic!
11.

Love it 😂
12. Gear4music L.A. Bass. (P bass) The body is made from super lightweight (very resonant) Paulownia wood. They are gigable but so cheap you could mod it nicely and easily still come in under budget: http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/LA-Bass-Guitar-by-Gear4music-Natural/5TQ
13.
And another... http://youtu.be/I7rlCyvHejY
Proper Blood Sugar live drums in a room sound on this one 👍 Flea's bass tone is sounding much sweeter again too.
14.
Buddy was the greatest. I say if you can't deal with him , then quit.Or better yet don't join, These guy know what they're signing up for when they played with Buddy. Blue
I'm with you Blue. It's the Buddy Rich Band. It's a different level of demand and expectation entirely, I'd be expecting perfection if I'd seen them play. Anything less would be average. There's a million average bands out there. He'd more than paid his dues by that point and deserved to not feel like a fool on stage. If I was in his band and I knew I hadn't dropped any clams then I wouldn't take any of that abuse personally at all. If I had messed up through not working at it hard enough, and especially at that level, then it's a fair call in my opinion.
15. Fat Beams are my favourite round. They sound and feel great when new, get better as they settle in, and just stay that way for months. I'm into flats at the mo so really should give the Hi Beams flats a shot. They're round core too which sounds nice for the fingers.
16. A fine tipped Tippex pen. Easy to put a small dot of it on, easy to pick it off with no damage or residue left behind. I've used one to put 'note' marker dots along the edge of the neck of my upright and also to mark first position on my fretless. Have a practice on some paper first though until you're happy with your dots
17. Here's another new Chilis song. It's low key but I like it. http://youtu.be/5w4d_mmJOGM
18. Start as you mean to carry on. I hope they get there.
19. Not sure really, it's the only one I've ever seen. I'm guessing they're Picato flats, as the two companies are not too far from each other in the South Wales valleys. I could be wrong though. They are very nice and thumpy, and for a smaller gauge string, the E sounds massive. In a good way.
20. Well, I ended up buying the fretless Revelation RBP65, and fair do's it's bloody lovely! The bass came set up from Fretmusic.co.uk -£150 delivered. Sweet. It's build quality is definitely above both the Vintage V4 and Squier Vintage Modified Precision I have owned. Everything works as it should. The Entwistle NPXN pickup is fantastic and the tone knob actually has an astonishing range, all tones usable. It came strung with a really nice quality set of flats, .100 -.40 as far as I can tell. The weight is good at 8 1/2 lbs, perfect balance and very resonant when played acoustically. For 150 notes, it's bloody silly really! Oh, and I actually really like the headstock too - a big raspberry to all the naysayers! 😝 It's nicely sculpted, I like that it's different. The colour in person is more faded Fiesta red or coral/salmon pink than it looks in my photo. I'll do a proper review after I've gigged it for a while, when the honeymoon is over. But, upon first impressions, this Revelation is a beautiful bass. Good enough to be my number 1, let alone back up bass.
21. I don't like the All for one bit but the second part and the guitar break sound good.
22.
This will be why - she was out as a three piece.... https://youtu.be/A29BMj3v86w
I was down under that year and saw her with the same three piece. Killer combo! I felt she was treading water a bit with the Uh-Huh-Her album and line up. (which Josh was in) Good but not great. She's really found herself again with the last two albums IMO. Sorry for the diversion there...😀
23.
Watching the Klingon in this is like seeing a kid who has overdosed on blue smarties. Did he do this looning around in the other bands he been in as it seems to be not something he's very good at here?
Yes he did. *don't click this link if you, or those around you, are offended by swear words* https://youtu.be/AzI1F7LwGdM
