  1. Turn up your amps bass and volume more? Otherwise Dimarzio Model Js are brill. If you do change pups, instead of getting the soldering iron out just cut the wires of the pickups a couple of inches from the pots and install small Connector blocks on each one. You can then easily try different pickups to your hearts content just by using a small screwdriver.
  2. Yep I'm with you. Have you tried loosening the neck bolts a bit and nudging the neck towards the left a tad? I find this usually does the trick. Just a smidge should make the D string line up dead centre. Tighten back up. The others should fall in symmetrically then. Remember to judge the others by their strings centre line afterwards though of course!
  3. Musicians. Can't live with them..
  4. ZOOM B3 Multi FX.. It's got pretty much everything! A whole plethora of the world's most famous effects pedals, amps and cabs in one robust unit. Home use only, never gigged and in great condition. Comes with it's power supply, manual, CD etc.. I bought this new and it's lived in a smoke and pet free home. The box is worn but functional as I have to pack up when I finish playing due to having not much space at home. **EDIT** £70 picked up in the Cardiff area or posted.
  5. Amazing drummer and band. Awful news.
  6. I crumbled on the 2nd of Jan when I bought a Fender Japan Jazz Special and I've been out of my eyes on virtual sake ever since.
  7. If it's fun to do, do. If not, don't.
  8. Zoom B3. It's got the lot.
  9. I'd never buy a new Fender anyway. Used every time for me.
  10. I've been trying to sell a SX P bass on here for a while but had no luck. Had it listed on Gumtree too without one sniff. I hadn't considered the Facebook market place until I read this thread. Listed it there on Friday night and a nice bloke was happily driving off with it this morning! So glad to avoid the boxing up and courier faff as I've done waaay too much of that. I do feel safer buying and selling on here though, but thanks for the FB tip!
  11. Yeah I know what you mean. I can definitely see more new/younger/poorer bassists coming through now. I feel sorry for them having to suffer all the "use the search function" jibes from the jaded old grumpy hacks. Basschat is so much better.
  12. I concur. Over Christmas I received an '85 Fender Japan Jazz Bass Special that I had shipped over from Japan. Considering it's lived it's 35 years in a completely different climate it's remained absolutely stable. It was set up prior to shipping with new strings (I was given the measurements of the set up) and it hasn't budged at all. The build quality and materials used are just spot on. I used to own and gig a lovely custom shop '62 Precision that was stupid expensive. I actually prefer playing this MIJ Fender which was a quarter of the price. I know... I wish I'd discovered how good the 80s Fender Japan stuff is years ago. Would've saved myself a bloody fortune! Ahem.. Sorry for the ramble.. GLWTS! 👍
  13. If only they did a medium scale.
  14. Great P bass as is or a ripe platform for modding.. £100
  15. Yeah great bassline. Love Moloko!
  16. What a wonderful moving example this is of the kind man Neil Peart was: https://www.nme.com/news/music/nicky-wires-brother-shares-touching-postcard-message-from-neil-peart-2595555
  17. Gutted. 😔
  18. Open to a reasonable offer.
  19. Absolutely. Straight swap! Wish I'd got try it out for myself and I am sad to let it go. I had considered keeping it for 'a rainy day' but I've just scored a bass I've fancied for years - an '85 Fender Japan Jazz Bass Special so I need to sell anything surplus to go towards that! Here's an example of one in a Precision - One of the mods on Talkbass has one in his '57 reissue and those anodised pickguards can be rather snug with no wiggle room:
  20. So that's a yes then!
  21. Interesting thread! Do octavers allow us to just get the octave below (for a low B string emulator) or do you always hear the original note as well?
