  8. I managed to score a '65 P finally a couple of weeks ago. It needs a good clean, a fix and a fettle but should be good. I'll do a NBD about it once it's had it's M.O.T. by my tech mate.
  9. They're Red Hot - Robert Johnson (Red Hot Chili Peppers version)
  10. I used to get horrible cramps from my bad technique. These vids helped massively. Great channel!
  11. Adam Ben Ezra...His percussive playing is pretty mind-blowing! http://youtu.be/xjhZhI2Zthg
  12. Who Are The Brain Police? Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention
  13. Just for future reference, I've solved this problem in the past by putting some bluetack under the covers at each of it's corners, between the cover and the pickup. Raise the height of the cover until it's flush with the top of the pole pieces. Then raise or lower the pickup to taste. Job's a good 'un 👍
  14. Totally. An asymmetrical large 2+2 matching headstock that mirrors the curves of the body would have been MUCH better (and a B width neck works better for me 😉). It looks like a spaceship but not a retro spaceship so the 50s Fender headstock just doesn't work at all. In fact it could never work on anything other than a P, J or trad shortie as the look of those basses are so ingrained within the minds of generations of musicians, that it can only look wrong on anything else. The Dimensions were great and look what happened! Fender could easily move away from that trademark headstock on certain models. Their name is established (understatement of the century 😄) and if the bass is good it will sell itself. Be braver Fender! Edit: and stop it with the bloody ice lolly colours please.
  15. It wasn't me - Shaggy
  16. For me it would be the Ibanez to keep as a player, the Aria to enjoy and probably turn a profit on in a couple of years. Doubt you'd be disappointed with either though.
  17. Back In Time - Huey Lewis and The News
  18. I absolutely love playing along with this one, it's like a meditation once you get inside that signature riff and keep it tight.
  19. Quick update.. I phoned Bass Direct just now to chase up the replacement strings that they were going to send a week ago because of the above issue, as I still haven't received them. They only just posted them out today so they say (or did they forget? 🤔). 60 quids worth! Never buying from them again anyway.
  20. Also interesting... https://bartolini.net/product-category/bass-pickups/p-bass/b-axis-p-bass/
  21. The pickups are Hi-A which became Bartolini if I remember correctly. Paul Jackson is THE MAN.
  22. Yep. My new bass for life for now ☺ It looked as worn out as I am and it was love at first sight.
  23. I saw a bassist use one of these with the French artist Camille a few years ago. It sounded amazing!
  24. Short answer: we had kids. It's been 11 years since my last full time band (which turned into 11 feverish years of buying and selling basses that I haven't really needed on here 😆) My two boys are learning guitar and piano so I'm now in the house band. No load-ins or travelling and rehearsals are free... Never had it so good! My wife is a tough crowd though. She's not too big on free jazz 😅
  25. You are Pete Cetera and I claim my 5 pounds!
