  1. G&L use Paulownia as an option on their USA custom basses under the name of Empress wood. A wee spot of superglue absorbed into the bridge screw holes would solve any lifting potential I would imagine. Alternatively the Harley Benton PJ-5s are supposed to be good for £110
  2. Very informative vid. I used to get so hung up on being good at everything that I stopped enjoying what I was naturally good at which is simplicity and solid time and feel. Food for thought.
  3. I was going to suggest these, especially the. 100 -. 40 set. Great great tone, very feely goody, last ages and not expensive.
  4. I haven't gigged in about a year and I'm fine with that. I'm actually learning more by not gigging to be honest. Unless I somehow end up in a killer band, I'm OK with not gigging at all. Live jams are my thing if I do play with others. I'm not interested in playing covers at all so this is the main reason really.
  5. I used to have a FCS relic P bass, now I have a 1985 MIJ. Both great basses made with quality materials. The relic job on the CS was a work of art but I prefer the MIJ which was a quarter of the price of the CS. 👍
  6. As a funk lover I look forward to listening those later, cheers!
  7. Cool thread! Some great records here. I love this one from the Ozrics, the dubbiest of all their dubby leanings..
  8. I played one in Wunjos with a maple neck. It was amazing and easy to play. Didn't notice that it felt wider than my old Stingray. It did feel like 'home' though!
  9. Wise words. Best of luck with all of the above and I really hope the treatment you're receiving helps you to continue playing for a very long time to come.
  10. I could live with that and I'm a right weirdo about this kind of thing 😄. Glad it was an easy fix for you.
  11. Last one.. Mojo's Zodiac pic just reminded me that as your's is a 5 string, check that the D string is aligned up the middle of the dots on the fingerboard. If they're not then that's a great tell regarding needing to bump the neck. That Peavey looks good at the dots so the misalignment at the pickups is just the way it was made I reckon.
  12. They're free floating like on a Fender if you know what I mean, mounted on a large MM shaped backplate. I just checked my own Fender after I posted the above and my saddles were out too! Squeezed them back together with a click and they're all 19mm again. God knows how long they'd been like that for..
  13. Another thought.. Before moving the neck a smidge (they can be knocked out of whack during transit/shipping), try squeezing the bridge saddles tight together so that the string spacing is uniform. It's possible there's been a bit of movement there too.
  14. Turn up your amps bass and volume more? Otherwise Dimarzio Model Js are brill. If you do change pups, instead of getting the soldering iron out just cut the wires of the pickups a couple of inches from the pots and install small Connector blocks on each one. You can then easily try different pickups to your hearts content just by using a small screwdriver.
  15. Yep I'm with you. Have you tried loosening the neck bolts a bit and nudging the neck towards the left a tad? I find this usually does the trick. Just a smidge should make the D string line up dead centre. Tighten back up. The others should fall in symmetrically then. Remember to judge the others by their strings centre line afterwards though of course!
  16. ZOOM B3 Multi FX.. It's got pretty much everything! A whole plethora of the world's most famous effects pedals, amps and cabs in one robust unit. Home use only, never gigged and in great condition. Comes with it's power supply, manual, CD etc.. I bought this new and it's lived in a smoke and pet free home. The box is worn but functional as I have to pack up when I finish playing due to having not much space at home. **EDIT** £70 picked up in the Cardiff area or posted.
  17. Amazing drummer and band. Awful news.
  18. I crumbled on the 2nd of Jan when I bought a Fender Japan Jazz Special and I've been out of my eyes on virtual sake ever since.
  19. If it's fun to do, do. If not, don't.
  20. I'd never buy a new Fender anyway. Used every time for me.
