  1. They send the money by Paypal gift / friends and family. It means theres no charges and ensures they cant claim the money back at a later date.
  2. I usually ask the sender to transfer in GBP. This usually saves you the cost of changing currency (% of total trasnsfer) and any potential losses due to currency fluctuations.
  3. I've got the Puma 900 and love the "Taste" control. You can add snap and clarity or more rounded vintage tones.
  4. Thanks. 👍 As long as theres over 1mm adjustment left on the bridge saddles then all is OK.
  5. Lovely looking job you're doing there.....giving me ideas! 🙂 I might have missed it but when you originally removed the finish and sanded the top, did you reduce the thickness of the whole bass to compensate for adding the veneers? (depth of pre-amp holes / bridge height etc)

  8. Did it work before you stripped it? Some close up photos of the wiring etc may help.
  9. It certainly was a good bass and it was Luke Capon I traded with. I think he got rid of it so I've no idea where it is now 😞
  10. This Sidewinder Custom "Melt Top" used to be mine. I bought it in the States and brought it back to the UK, played it for 4 or 5 years then traded it for a Shuker.
  11. Nice looking bass and sounds good too.
  12. I've always had a hankering for one of the 24 fret, 5 string versions but they seem as rare as the proverbial rocking horse doo-doo 🙂
  13. Yet another great deal done with Dan, just like the previous ones we've done. Bought his Status S2 and it arrived in superb condition. He's a veritable gent and a pleasure to chat with. Thanks again!
  14. I have a MV5 (24 fret) and even with the smaller body it doesn't have any neck dive. In fact it balances better than I do 🤣
  15. Although this is the same shape and high quality specs as the Dran Michaels its one of the older Signature models. Essentially "same bass, different name" 🙂 It is a superb bass with a compact body and slim front to back neck thickness. The neck to body carving gives real easy access to the upper frets. GLWTS 👍
  16. Ah, I didn't know that they were East pre's originally. He does some good stuff.
  17. Do you have the original Overwater electronics? What difference does the East pre make over the Overwater one? Any sound samples?
  18. Nice bass 🙂 Most couriers state "no batteries to be installed" as part of shipping T&C.
  19. I got the Sadowsky "bug" after reading about "the sound" on many forums and then trying a Modern 5 whilst on holiday in the States. I came back and bought a pre-amp from doc40hz on here and put it in my Mayones Jabba. I happily kept it that way until I sold the bass (returned to stock) and got myself a MV5-24. In the past I've had up to 11 basses at once including Warwick, Status, W&T, Schold, Roscoe etc all great but eventually sold on leaving me with my Smith, Ritter and Sadowsky. The Sadowsky has become my go-to bass as I find it easy to get pretty much any sound I want easily and quickly. It's shape and size fits me and is comfortable to play for extended periods. I find the "home practice level" sound to be good but improves once you start pushing some gig air. For me it just seems to sit in the mix and is clear without overpowering. That said, my gassing for other basses has never really stopped and there are a few more basses I'd like to try 😁 I've noticed that Sadowsky's in general are not a common sight and even rarer are Modern 5's coming up for sale......if anyone spots one..... 😉👍😁
  20. Nail on head I think. 😁 Don't rush into getting credit......for me the initial pleasure of getting the bass would be severely dampned by the knowledge that it would only become mine fully after 3 years of monthly payments 😧 If you don't have the cash then save. If you can't save then you wouldn't be able to pay off a loan. If the bass sells before you get the funds together, no problem, Mayones will make one specifically for YOU. Good luck. 👍
  21. Are these delightful cabs 4 or 8 Ohm each?
  22. Just bought a moose off Dan...... well a Midi Moose actually. Perfect condition, great deal just like the previous ones we've done. Thanks again!
  23. WHAT!!!!! No cowbell!!!! 😧
  24. Ah John Shuker....the "Mr Kipling" of the bass world.....makes exceedingly good basses! Nice bass you have there. You're gonna have fun 🙂
