  1. I currently own a Cort Elrick NJS5 which is a great playing bass and I've modded the pre and pickups to my liking. The design is based on the Elrick handbuilt "New Jazz Standard" but at a more affordable price. This obviously has sent me down the Elrick rabbit hole. I believe Rob Elrick makes them all by hand himself so understandably theres not huge quantities of basses / reviews / information flooding the marketplace. I've only seen one being played live and that was a few years ago in the Bass Gallery....a certain Steve Lawson was noodling about 🤣 It sounded great, but then again Steve has the skills to make a tennis racquet not sound like a racket! 🤣 As I'm more likely to find a tame haggis in my garden than I am to be able to check out an Elrick local to Aberdeen I'm wondering what experience and knowledge the Basschat collective may have on the higher end Gold / Platinum series etc. Fit & finish? Sound & flexibility? Weight and balance? Playability? One trick pony or adaptable? Work horse or home bird? Any info welcomed 👍
  2. I use a Vanderkley 210LNT and am really impressed what volume damage it can do in a rock band setting as well as more delicate nuances of my funky / souly / poppy type bands. However I've just done a trawl of the internet and couldnt find the Vanderkley website. Also most stockists (eg: Bass Direct etc) are out of stock. 🤔 Anyone know whats happening?
  3. Birthday card, Xmas card, get well....gissa clue? 🤣🤣
  4. I'm in the "electronics make more of a difference than wood selection" train of thought, so I wouldnt think chambering a body is going to make a huge change to the sound. YMMV However before starting to change the body you could get a rough idea of the weight savings you would get. Work out the volume of wood to be removed multiply it by the weight of the type of ash and it will give you an idea of whether the work will be worth it. Maybe thinning the body from the back and shaving the neck if possible as well may help 🤷‍♂️ On basses I've modded in the past I've found that the hardware / electronics / pickups fitted had a bigger effect on overall weight. It was a case of saving an ounce here and there as opposed to a lot of weight in one area. Also making the body much lighter may make the neck dive. I'm interested in seeing if you go ahead with the project an how you achieve the results. Good luck 👍
  5. Nice looking bass in great condition and quite tempting 👍 Might help the sale to say where you are based 🤷‍♂️ If, like your name, its in Cairo, it may reduce your possibilities! 🤣🤣
  6. Looking forward to Sunday 👍
  7. 1 rack unit is gone so the only one left is the lower one in the photos. For sale is my used but not abused EMS 500 19" rack case. The rack is currently assembled as 6U but can be reconfigured as 3U, 6U simply by removing some bolts and panels - 10 min job! You can also configure it so the top removes for mixers. The rack is currently assembled to a board with castors which isn't included in the sale and will be removed before shipping.........unless you really, really want it and then it would be an extra £20 and whatever the increased postage is. These are quite special cases as they are modular construction where you can increase or decrease the number of rack spaces by easily adding or removing side and end panels. All you need is an allen key! You can also use them with a mixer installed in the top and the top panel can be easily removed! See the photo of how I had the units set up for my band PA. (None of the rack equipment is included.) All catches etc are in good condition. Rack to rack depth is 48cm. Weight per 6U assembly is 18lbs / 8.2kg. See the attached brochure for more details. The 6U Gator version of this case weighs 13lbs so slightly lighter but is NOT as rigid, road resilient or has the flexiblity options. As these are modular I would propose they are dismantled and flat packed for shipping to reduce the cost. I'll give details on how to re-assemble if you need but its quite straight forward. I've estimated UK postage to be £15 per unit. 6U Rack Unit 2 - the lower 6U rack unit in the photos on its own - £90 / Board with castors - £20 / Both together £100. Shipping Extra EMS.pdf
  8. I have just gone through a lot of my studio / PA gear and removed the excess insert and patch cables etc. and have gathered together quite a collection of connectors. Some of the items are brand new never been used but all are in great condition and fully functional. I could be persueded to a bulk buy reduction. Postage would be based on how many and destination. The table below gives as much info on model / style as I know.
  9. For sale is my Smooth Hound wireless system in great condition complete with power supply / adaptors and instructions. This was a backup to my other Smooth Hound unit so hasn't had much use. Postage for the UK would be £5. Website is here.

  10. For sale is my TC Electronic GMajor-2 multi effects unit in fully working condition and updated to the latest firmware. Pictures show it in its usual rack home (rack not included). Although most of the standard effects are aimed at the guitarist I have found the compressor, gate, flanger, phaser and octaver (up and down) etc. to be very useable for bass. I can either factory reset before shipping or leave the presets I have created intalled. It has built in EQ, noise gate, compressor, reverbs, delays, wahs, octaver, tremolo, phaser, flanger etc each of which can be switched in / out from the front panel as required. I have been using this via my amps effects loop and found the compressor (and all the effects) just add their effect without changing the fundamental sound of the bass. Comes with original box and operating manual. You can use the unit in your DAW as well as with your bass / guitar etc. Patches can be easily selected from the front panel or attach a midi-pedal (I used a MidiMoose). There is also some Vyzor software you can download from the net which allows you to interface your PC with the GMajor-2 to edit and backup your user patches. I have also attached the GMajor-2 and Vyzor manuals below. tc_electronic_g-major_2_manual_english.pdfVyzor_G-Major2_Quick-Start.pdf I estimate UK shipping about £10 to £15.

  11. Patrick's just bought my Headrush pedal from me and like others above have said..."easy dealings". Great comms, quick payment. Whats not to like? Thank you. 👍
  12. I've owned a Tecamp Puma 900 and as others have said its great piece of gear. That taste knob just works! 👍 Which Mesa are you getting?
  13. It's our @woodyratm so you're in good company 👍
  14. Sadowsky pre would fit the description....only drawback would you would need to fit a side jack. 🤷‍♂️ Bass Direct Pre
  15. You don't see too many of these higher spec Elricks for sale and this one is rather nice. 👍
  16. Thanks for doing the legwork for this Matt @neepheid 👍 Random thought....this isn't a "Bass Bash" but a chance to meet up and talk so shouldn't it be called a "BassChatChat"?🤔🤣🤣
  17. So far all ok for me except 12th July & 2nd Aug. FYI the 19/20th July is when the Tall Ships are in Aberdeen.
  18. Yes that might just work 👍 I missed the original post so I'll tag a couple of other "locals" who might be interested @Yan_Huriey@jig@ToneFree@woodyratm Yes I did a couple of charity gigs and a number of jam nights with him. Lovely guy and very talented. When he came back to Aberdeen he played in the Gerry Jablonski Band with our very own @jig
  19. Hi Kev, welcome to bass playing and Basschat. 👍 This forum is great for asking questions about anything bass related and I see you've already succumbed to your first GAS episode! Congratulations! 🤣🤣 There's a few of us based round Aberdeen area so don't be shy on getting in touch if you want any help / guidance / chat and we'll see what we can do 👍 Mike
  20. Yeah, that eventually dawned on me The Anagram was quite happy with the "/" in the name so I initially didn't think twice about it. It was only when Darkglass Suite (on my PC) was trying to export to my PC that they stopped playing together nicely 🤣 All happy again now. 👍
  21. I got my Anagram 4 week ago and I'm really liking it. Great interface and sounds, just what I wanted. I've used it at a number of home practice sessions, rehearsals and gigs and it worked flawlessly until last night......😮 I was playing a local beer festival with a multi band line up, so minimal change over times. I only needed to take my bass, wireless and Anagram everything else was provided. As usual I'd checked all my gear at home. Got to the festival, set up and tried tuning up via the Anagram.....didn't respond or tune like it had at previous gigs so no problem I just borrowed a tuner. I then plugged into the supplied Eden amp and it had a bit-crusher and high pitched wine coming through it! Arrrgh, some very quick fault finding, checked my bass, cables, wireless, amp....all OK. Last thing was the Anagram....starting to panic a bit as I use some some significant effects on certain songs......rebooted it......fingers crossed.....all OK and worked for the remainder of the evening. No idea why this happened and glad it was such an easy fix.👍😁 Also I've been struggling to get one of my Anagram home made presets to Export from the Darkglass Suite (back-up) to my PC. I'd named it "Comp/Lim/HPF" on the Anagram with no issues, Darkglass Suite would load it and only when I tried to Export it I had a problem. It appears that using "/" in a name won't allow you to Export it. I changed the preset name to "Comp-Lim-HPF" and all worked fine. Just been onto the Public Presets hub and seen my preset for Hysteria is the most downloaded at the moment......a whopping 18 times!!! 🤣🤣
  22. I'm very happy to be able to start a feedback thread for Roy @Roy Muir who's just bought my Overwater Progress III Deluxe. He drove from Edinburgh to Aberdeen (240 mile round journey!) played the bass, had a cuppa and a chat and then bought it 👍 Easy deal, nice guy and pleasure to do business. Hope you enjoy the bass 👍

  23. Maybe Andertons have been following the "Ruin a Band or musician's name by replacing a single letter" thread on here? Don't Fodera make a Victor Woolen bass? 🤣
  24. For sale is my Headrush Gigboard in great condition. It has the latest firmware updates etc and comes with the original power supply. Fully functional and dead easy to use / configure etc. I have a number of my own bass presets stored and I removed the factory (mainly guitar) presets to reduce the need for scrolling etc. I can easily reload the original presets if the new owner would like.....it takes about 2 mins, its that straight forward. Plenty of online videos, help and guidance to review as well. Its really easy to set up and edit using the touch screen to drag & drop effects and IR's together instantly. The interface is super easy to use. There are plenty of amps, cabs, IRs, microphone, and effects options to get the tones you're looking for. You can use your own impulse responses as well as backing up your presets to your PC. The four switches can be configured to switch between rigs, switch on effects, scenes or whatever you prefer. It has a looper too and can be used as audio interface for recording with reamping from the clean signal. Heres a few links: Headrush website Headrush Effects & Controls List Basschat thread I've added some documents for info eg: manual, effects list, preset equivalents - Comes boxed with power supply. As Aberdeen is a long way from most of civilisation, I'll ship to mainland UK at cost using Parcelforce / Royal Mail.

  25. Stood in for the new house bass player at the jam tonight. Same old, same old......the organiser (audio engineer) came outside to chat mentioned that he'd asked the current band to turn down as it was at 110db.......my request to the band would have been "turn down or f**k off"! For some strange reason people were leaving the pub
