...and bought. I am weak...

I've asked the pertinent questions: Hi, nut width is 48mm. Distance at nut between 1st and 5th string is 37mm. Nut is wider because of the headless nut. At bridge string spacing is 17mm. The saddles have a small amount of widget regulation, so probably it could also be adjusted +/- 1mm At 1st fret the neck is about 21mm deep, at 12th fret is about 22mm. Neck profile is D shape, very regular from top to bottom. Weight is 3.9 kg. If you need anything else, just ask. Bye

Not the best example. Someone had been bad to it. Speaker was a replacement and not in good nick. I swiftly swapped over to the Peavey TNT it was propped on top of. Having said that the last night we were in the same rehearsal room I'd been using a Trace GP11 head and it was OUTSTANDING!!!

Oh I like that!

About the same as a small moon if the one I was playing through last night is anything to go by! It was a 712 SMC...

Beautiful! Health to enjoy!

That looks interesting!

Other than the weight (obviously variable) and the extra pickup and preamp I wouldn't use myself, I'd heartily recommend Sire basses. The couple of J basses I've owned/played have been outstanding.

If you're OCD about colours then... Can't really help you with that... Although the Octave Multiplexer would fit.

I quite liked the Octave Multiplexer I had although it's certainly a different flavour than the OC2. The TC Nether seems like a nice cheap OC2 clone if that's what you're after. My personal fav cheapo octave is the Chord OC-50, which is OC2 based but with a drive option.

Not sure, but retried install earlier and it worked!

Bought a preamp from Nick. Faultless transaction from start to finish! Wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.

Health to enjoy Si! Looks lovely!

@Kev with all that space why have the polytune sideways? Genuine question, never used one!

True bypass, top mounted jacks, omitting/deleting controls that usually remain fixed, adding expression functionality, going to a smaller enclosure, adding a blend, clipping mods... I could go on... I don't think the OP was specifically targeting Boss btw although the OC2 is the most rehoused pedal I've seen, usually (as previously mentioned) to delete the -2 octave control.
-
I think the answer is - it depends. On your skills mainly. I'll be honest and say if you have to ask the question you shouldn't be attempting it yourself... But if you're interested in giving it a go, start with building some basic pedals yourself to get a feel for things before you attempt rehousing something made by somebody else, which is typically more difficult that building from scratch yourself. Have a look at pedalparts.co.uk for a start. Also look at the DIY pedal thread here.

The tuning hardware seems to be the same as the cheap Chinese Strandberg knockoffs...

Reduced to less than half its original price. Still overpriced! -
Thanks UPS - seriously good courier. No really this time!

Looks all very efficient except... Departure Scan, Koeln, Germany at 4.30am (3.30am UK time). Arrival Scan, Stansted, UK at 3.39am... Regardless of the fishy scanning times it's a pretty impressive performance!
