The Wren & Cuff Pickle Pie B is awesome and flexible in tone! I may also be looking to rehome mine as it's not getting used anymore, if you're interested I'll do a proper for sale page so it's pukka-legit...

how are you getting on with this matey? is it still doin' the business for you, I'm really interested in one so wondered how you were getting on...?

I've tried a variety of the preamps out there and here are the edited highlights of my search: found the behringer sounded just a bit sh*t really (to me anyway) probably just didn't like my amp/cab combination or something, I also didn't like the 'wobbly plastic feel of it'; xotic bb was v nice but a bit too 'clean' in it's grindyness for me; catalinbread sft is a pretty good approximation of the valvey break up that my DHA vt-1 does; My conclusion...transistors can only go so far when emulating the sound of a valve and if you want a valve sound then a valve is what you need, when I tried a vt-1 bass drive it was all of the pedals I'd tried but with the actual sound I wanted, straight away, no faffing about to try and find the sound, it was just there... I picked one up very reasonably s/h too

Just got a Fender Standard (MIM) Jazz in what I thought was going to be sunburst (as was described to me) but turns out it's 'Copper Metallic burst' which is like a sparkly sunburst and rather fetching... When I picked it up, neck like a nana, intonation a semi-tone out, covered in muck and needing a damn good fettle! Got it home cleaned it up, tuned it, tweaked the neck, string height and intonation adjust and it plays real nicely! Jack socket is knackered but it's getting a kiogon loom replacement anyway to no worries there, I'll get some new strings as these ancient roundwounds have about as much life as a fossil and do it's tone no favours at all and probably some new pickup foam too...should feel and sound like a new'un when am done with it! pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andy_dye/sets/72157638258262465/ does anyone have any more information on these as there's not much out there (that I can find using google)? was it a limited edition? did I get a major bargain even if it does need a bit of time and a little cash to get it sweet again?
Count me in for a hat should they ever become available. Can I have a Pork Pie hat with a BC branded band please, failing that a Beanie would do
Mmmmm pie -
Stupid question: just because something takes, or sends out on, an XLR cable, doesn't mean that it's mic level, does it. Or does it?
Not necessarily matey, it may be a balanced signal but still might have more or less than the input will like. I prefer to have a level knob on any di send so I can make sure the desk gets the right line level signal
I'm sure it'll be alright - and I won't blame you if not! Much

Good call! I've checked the specs for the Tascam and the line-in sockets are designed for TRS-jack (balanced), so I'm guessing that's a stereo jack lead. In which case this cable should do the job - ? Cheers, Paul
We're skirting the edge of my knowledge here now but it certainly looks like the right thing from their descriptions matey...
Cheers Andy! And thanks for the quick reply
No prob buddy, I know how these questions feel from the other side so speedy reassurance is a welcome thing One caveat / 'thing to watch' (that I've just thought of) would be to ensure that the input on your tascam is a mono jack (I presume this is the case) and not a stereo one just to make sure the signal is getting to the right bit of the jack to suit it...

that'll do fine matey
-
s/h is the only way to fly matey unless you're pressed for time in which case you pay the 'new bass tax'...
-
I should add that the Aignew cover, I sent them the measurements myself and they got it precisely spot on!
-
Yep, I've had 2, one for my little Aignew valve combo and one for my Martamp valve combo, both were excellent. Not over thickly padded but a perfect fit and protective enough that the combos looked new when I sold them
