Clean ? I might think about getting rid of the worst of the dust. Other that, all the tarnishing will be staying right where it is !
I meant 'dust' and oil the fingerboard, mebbe lavish a bit of guitar polish on it, new strings that's about all I had in mind when I said 'clean'...I'd not bother with any dings & scrapes on it, theyr'e part of it's former life

very nice beater just in need of a bit of a clean...a kiogon wiring loom and a new pup might be in order in it's future though
I'll get on with it, Andy! Unfortunately it's back to work today, but rehearsed with it last night and tomorrow night and a gig on Saturday - anyone in Bolton free on Saturday? - and I have lots of new songs to learn. Next week is equally busy playing-wise so I should have a get a good impression.
Enjoy getting to know it matey! It's a real beaut!!

Natural, looks awesome

I tried a cv and a vm j in a shop today and they all felt like cheapy basses, couldn't detect the near mythical amazingness I'm afraid, they just felt like decent basses for the price point :/

Thanks for the tip matey! I was considering a cheapy j so won't be trying the vm, I'll go straight to cv now

[s]For sale (as I've just bought something a teensy bit cheeky): my Keeley modded TS-9, completely as new, bought to see if it was the sound I was after and it's not so here it is, used once at home, totally unmarked and with all original bits&bobs! £130 inc uk shipping Bright Onion true bypass blender/looper, completely as new, bought to try with the TS9+ above and since that's up on here so might this as well be. £65 collected sfx custom made interface box, bought recently as I thought it'd come in handy with my new board build but I've actually got all the bits I need without it so it's back on here for the same as I paid for it. £50 inc uk shipping custom made looper by one of our own bc'ers, I've another like this so this one is no longer required. passive operation, a very simple fx loop, power is only required for the led. £20 inc uk shipping Local collection from Sheffield welcome as always, any questions about prices etc by pm please[/s]

The ACG filter preamp sounds like exactly what you're talking about (or am I misunderstanding something)? Depending on where you live there'll be someone nearby who's got one and who would be more than happy for you to have a noodle to test out how the pre affects the sound?
Pups will be ready next week. Apart from these, the bass is now virtually complete. The dots have arrived from Japan - 60mm this time! Just a couple of decisions still to be made. The pups, upon the suggestion of Allighat0r, may go green. We'll have a look with them natural and make a decision. This has a nice look though (note they couldn't get the ripples gong the same way as the neck either):
Aesthetically pleasing to have the neck colour continue into the body area, tying the two together. Neither green or natural would be functinally different either so no utility issues there.
