2. Very different beasts you are considering. From full on Mosfet to Class D. To me the TD660 would be the most likely choice, it is loud as can be, extremely direct and does handle dirt pedals quite well. I have used a Blue Sky and it was one of the fattest class D amps I have heard, but still lacked the super heavy low oomph a Mosfet amp gives. But, a very very very good amp nonetheless and if DI into PA the Mosfet advantage is lost of course. The Blue Rock has an added overdrive I understand, which going by my old Heart Rock (1st edition) will be quite good so I would slot that in 2nd. I like Genzler designs but I do not think it will be on par with the Glock. Aurora I do not know but Vanderkley makes good stuff, but very clean. Best advice - try them with your bass!
3. Nice Ped!!!! Like me it looks incredible for it's age

5. Marcus sold me his U5, cheers mate awesome deal and easy transaction.
6. Listen to BFM folks. Selling the LM500 and getting an 800 is only going to add 2dB (max) if you use the 1 cab. You will completely blow away drummer, guitar players and even the devil himself if you just add more speaker area. An 8 Ohm (so ohms the same as current) 4x10 would already sort the issue. 4 Ohm 810 (or 412) would tear faces off. My main rig is a Mesa 600 watt amp and 2 212 cabs. I never turn it past a third and then I am still crazy loud.

9. You have everything? Hats off sir! I have about 50 or so, which is roughly half what is out today and lots more still to come from the vault.
Just found out I'm an album short in my collection. A new Road Tapes (Vol 3) has just come out! Ordered.
10. And I'd almost forget Bongo Fury..... Captain Beefheart baby!
11. Ooh man, I just checked my record collection to see what a good place to start would be. I started with Overnight Sensation/Apostrophe, great playing some say his best band. I also love the period of Sheik Yerbouti/Zoot Allures etc. But then things like Freak Out of Tinseltown Rebellion. My favourite period is '73-84 roughly. Any record in these years will do. Great playing by Patrick O'Hearn, Scott Tunes, Tom Fowler, Roy Estrada during these years.
12. A preamp has the same function as active onboard eq. Tone shaping, sure you can adjust your amp but why would you if you can do so elsewhere?
13. I like Scott's playing. For my taste I have seen him on better form in some of his other videos. It is not very "funky", well played on the whole but not funky. Still, keep 'em coming Scott, one of the better "tutors" on the net.
14. +1 to the above. It pretty much will help you understand note for note.
15. As Dood said, I tried my guitarists VTwin in my blend looper, pretty cool - not great - there are better offerings for bass available...
16. FI + Strymon Mobius.......... Wow. I cannot recommend the FI enough, best synth pedal on market today I reckon.
17. OC-2, any Overdrive or fuzz and envelope filter..... Job done.
18. Hi TommyK, how's the kids? G#m I believe, but heck as long as we understand what it is right? I play this song with my tribute, looks about right as described above. Very "old school" progression really.
19.
I have no interest in striving to do it all ... Nor any interest in telling other bassists how they should play.
Good for you, no need to follow any opinions given if it helps.
20. I think as bassists we should strive to do it all - the right technique for the right sound - fingers, muted thumb, slap/pop, pick, tap, skip and hop.... In essence play what sounds right.
