1. I struggle to see the real world application, besides having a bass to take with you whilst travelling.
2. Never heard of them before, sounds like a bit of a cross between Radiohead and Portishead so suggest to check them out.
3. Best tip: don't make it out to be harder than it is, and just practise. You give up a level of freedom as you need to be a bit more precise with your right hand, but it is easier as well as you can maintain position with your left more. And 2nd tip: continue to use your 4 strings as well. It makes changing between 4 and 5 easier later on. You will also find that 80% of what you play (assuming you don't down tune to c or such) does not require a 5th string. From a drop D perspective you only win a B, C and C# with a fiver. One of the reasons I generally take both 4 and 5-ers to a gig.
4. The latest update to my Temple Audio Trio 21 board, in a Pelican hard case (which even floats). 2 basses plug into the Providence with the Polytune in the tuner out, signal chain then is: Keeley compressor Pro > COG Octaver > OneControl Buffer/Blender - Future Impact in Blend loop > Bearfoot BBO > Blackloop - with Darkglass B3K and Duality in right loop, left loop reserved for a Filter pedal (still deciding which) > Strymon Mobius for modulation (chorus, flanger, reverb etc). Powered by a Voodoolabs PP2 and TRex Juicy Lucy, all fed by 1 power cable going into the side of the board. 6. As pedal board real estate is always tights looking to get rid of some surplus gear: - Markbass MB7 EQ/Boost pedal - great booster and graphic EQ pedal. Really works well to create an extra channel effect. In good condition. Not a cheap pedal..... so let me save you some cash. SOLD - DOD FX25 - the good old original super wet filter pedal, pedal of choice for Flea. Bought on here because of GAS but I do not need it. SOLD - COG Rogue Leader - improved Boss LS2 type routing pedal, with 2 switchable and mixable loops. Great pedal but I only use 1 loop and need the space. SOLD - Suhr Buffer/Splitter - Best buffer on the planet, and with the added benefit that it can be used to split your bass signal into 2 outputs (with phase reverse switching). Great for using 2 amps or splitting signal chain to 2 effects chains. Cost me GBP105 new, in good as new condition (was mounted underneath my pedalboard) SOLD - Xvive ABY pedal - does what it says on the box, switches between A and B. GBP40 new, in good condition, looking for GBP25 shipped. - Truetone/Visualsound Visual Volume - great volume pedal which can also act as a splitter and has a built in switchable buffer. LEDs show the volume level. Cost me GBP120, in very good condition, GBP65 shipped. - Keeley Katana Boost Mini - lovely and small clean boost by my favourite pedal company - SOLD - Homebrew Buffer - built by a local Basschat-esque forum member, nothing special but works well. GBP 15 shipped. Trades? Sure, B7Ks, MXR Bass Envelope Filter, PJB Bass Buddy or such/what do you have.... No synths please, I have a Future Impact
7. It is a really good strap, not sure about longevity but it is nice and wide, very comfortable, easily adjustable and neoprene is supported to ensure it does not stretch too much.
8. Aah, the Goliath Sr. + SM1500. probably 100kg worth of creamy goodness. See, who needs D Class and Neo anyway.
9. Just bought one..... Loving it so far! It works well.
10. Yes, one of the reasons I no longer have them. Mine were flightcased too, just madness...
11. sh*t Works Right..... Goliath 2 410 are imo best 410 ever. And the Henry 8x8 super sweet sounding mini fridge. Also had a red face 350 and pre-Fender Red Head amp wise. Both just lovely.
12.
EQ may be one part in getting to a 'fat' tone. The other element is compression, which can really fatten up the bass. It depends what you have access to, as I don't have experience with the Bronco modelling amp. If you're using audio software on a computer, I would suggest experimenting with the compression also.
A very relevant point, indeed worth exploring. Also keep in mind that cutting frequencies is more effective than boosting. Quite often cutting above or below the frequency you want to emphasize works better than boosting the frequency. I also tend to cut with a narrow Q and boost with a wider one.
13. They bought market share.... SWR did not do D Class very well, as that is where all were heading Fender felt SWR did not do enough to enhance their stable. Stupid, but hey Fender see Fender do.
14. Try and loan parametric EQ if you can. I would suggest to cut below 40 Hz, a small boost at 80-90 Hz, small cut at around 190-195 Hz. A lot of the Fender character is in the 1kHz range so try a boost there. That is generally what I do. In my experience single coils need careful eq-ing around the 100Hz mark as that is where most JB fundamentals lie, depending on setup boosting or cutting just below and above yields good results. Perhaps you can also try cut 80Hz and Boost 140 Hz instead of the above. Probably not as good as above, but a lot depends on your specific bass too. Your attack will lie around the 700-1000 Hz and deep bottom at around 50-80 Hz. Get these right and you should be golden.
15. This is the most ridiculous thing I have seen in ages........
16. A Y.O.B. Jazz... no mr Been you do not need it....
17. Having had several NS5XLs, Euro5s and NSCRFM5s, I can vouch that the NSCRFM comes closer to the US versions than to Euros (not that they are bad basses). Very nice, I still miss my Spectors on occasion, very very good instruments.
