1. I have gone through similar thoughts on effects and pro and con discussions, fact of the matter is that if you lengthen the cable and have a lot of pedals signal will degrade to a point. To an extent there is a trade off you have to make. Good quality cables (Evidence Audio SIS for instance), high quality pedals (with good connectors), parallel loop pedals (to cut our cable not in use) and high quality buffers (either stand alone or built in) limit this greatly. I have some but not much difference direct vs via my board and my setup consists of 12 pedals. Now if effects are right for you, that is another discussion. I could not do without in any scenario I can picture, others do not need any or just 1 or 2.
2. And sold.... (most likely). Great compressors, almost impossible to obtain.
3.
Just checking - y'all know this is a spoof, don't you?
Ssssssh, this is way too much fun....
4. Ah, net worth of only 245m....
5. Darryl Jones wasn't even their 1st choice. Doug Wimbish played on Mick Jagger's solo recording and was the #1 choice. Rumour has it he would have been made a "real" Stone if he had accepted. I am pretty sure Darryl Jones is ok with the role, made him more money than any of his other gigs. He is rumoured to have 250m USD.....
6. They are called TRS sockets, Tip, Ring, Sleeve. You are referring to a barrel socket. Almost without fail wiring will be sleeve earth, ring will be battery and tip will be hot. http://www.bestbassgear.com/ebass/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Picture-12.png
7. Just check ovnilab.com; thorough testing, "uncoloured" opinions and elaborate descriptions.
8. I would say '78/89 is when the best ones I have played were all built. I had a '93 as my main bass for about 14 years, it was very good but never on par with the '82 I owned or the '86 my mate had. Also the 2 band EQ version always sounded better to me than the 3 band they brought out. But if that means golden era....
9. Matt and I swapped some pedals, it was an effortless transaction and smooth receipt on this end, unfortunately Yodel who should change names to Yoker threw a bit of a spanner into the works for a bit and I really appreciate his patience and understanding whilst we sorted the matter. All ended well. Great guy to deal with.
10.
Hazbeen's picture is an XLR/jack combo socket made by Neutrik, the sort of thing you'd see on a line-level input. Since you're talking about Speakon connectors, most can't be used with 1/4" jacks. The Neutrik branded Speakon/jack sockets are dark green and have the word "combo" moulded into the plastic so should be fairly easy to spot - the black Neutrik Speakon sockets won't take a 1/4" jack.
Of course, that is correct. Sorry about that (short night), the dark green ones are the Speakon versions that can take jacks.
11. Yes, the hole in the middle is large enough to accommodate a jack. If it fits it accommodates, if it doesn't well you know the answer then.
12. The SVP has several valves which in essence are light bulbs and will generate heat. Yes to the gents above, personally I would give the SVP room above and below. You may get away with mounting an external fan that directs air to the pre.
13. Right, I am putting a stop to this. Have a good day all, BC is a friendly place and we need to respect it for whst it is,
14. Wow.... this has been erhhh interesting. Is it possible for all involved in mud slinging to shrug shoulders, think of all the really important things in life like family, friends, kids and stop bickering? Surely nobody needs the aggro, whatever the time of day. If CK or JJ or BB for that matter did or did not play certain songs/sessions, what does it matter to the songs? They are a part of a very rich musical history and outside us nerdy bassists not many people would know any of the great bassists all 3 are, they will know the songs. I'm Dutch by the way....
15. I never thought I would be selling this, especially since it was built to my spec by Sander de Gier. But the graphite bug has "recaptured" me and I am only using my Bogart basses. This is way too good an instrument not to be used. This bass was ordered in April 2015 and I picked it up in July 2015. Originally the bass was passive with only a Fat Boost designed by van der Kley (the amp guy) that boosted the lows, very handy when using back pickup only. A John East URetro (flat response) 3 band EQ upgrade was installed soon after to make the bass more flexible. It comes with the original wiring included of course. Specs: 2 tone burst Black scratch plate Lollar pickups, '60s spacing Swamp Ash body Blocks and Binding Rosewood fretboard 21 frets, 34" scale 19mm spacing, CTS/De Gier hi-mass bridge Hipshot Ultralite tuners Weight is 4.6 kg There are 2 little scratches in the paint, a small paint chip near flush mount Dunlop straplock (happened when installing the flushmounts) and a small ding on top of headstock, rest is good as new. So overal in very good condition indeed. Comes with the original De Gier heavy duty gigbag that was never used so is new. Price includes shipping with neck detached within Western Europe. I would consider meeting up (and driving there) up to 300-400 km from the Hague, NL as well. Price is firm, with the East this bass would cost you over £2300 to order and it would be a 3-6 months wait. Build Diary: http://basschat.co.u...page__hl__bebop Pics: http://s87.photobuck...brary/Bebop%205 I would rather sell, but would consider (part) trades for the right graphite necked instrument or a cheaper modern 5 string (back-up bass material).
16. 2 pedals I absolutely adore have become surplus to requirements and are looking for a new home. First up is the new Finnish model B3K in very good condition. Best distortion/grind pedal out there and am only selling as there is a B7K incoming. Comes with original box etc. SOLD Then the magnificent Providence DBS-1 dual channel, 3 band preamp with parametric mids. Runs on 12v (I powered it with my Voodolab Pedal Power 2) and comes with original EU adapter as well. In good nick with 1 or 2 small paint chips. This box is amazing, it has a switch, tuner out and 2 selectable channels mean you can easily switch between 2 with different output levels or have 2 different EQ settings available at the push of a button. Am only selling as I now exclusively use Glockenklang powered Bogarts in my main band (where I use my pedals) meaning I can use a simple A/B to switch basses. In all other scenarios this would not leave my possession, ever. £140 SOLD PENDING http://www.providenc...BS-1_manual.pdf Will consider (part) trades against quality Chorus, Phase, Reverb pedals. Prices include shipping in Western Europe.
17. Partial trades considered, Chorus, Reverb and BK7 of interest. Open to "nearest offers"
18. That is the ugliest thing I have seen for quite a while...
19. Thank heavens, I have no need for another bass but this was almost too much to deal with
