1. Anyone in need of a kidney? I am selling one. Lovely bass!
2. I had undeed noticed, thanks. Some pics now up, ideally daylight ones next time. Happy to snap more during day for anyone if needed.
Hey Hazbeen, the link to the original thread isn't too helpful as the other owner has removed all the pictures and most of the info. GLWTS
3. I agree, I owned the 250/470 version and it was immensely loud and sounded great. This will be even louder.
4. I detest thieves, zero respect for sneaky rats stealing other people's hard earned stuff. He will be gutted as the M5 was very special to him. Fingers crossed for him.....
5. I have 2 headset dynamic mics from Shure up for grabs, come in their original box. Really handy for drummers/bass players etc that do not want or like a standard mic on a stand setup. They are just over £100 new. Looking for £60 shipped per headset. They are in perfect working condition and not have a lot of visual signs of use. I wouldn't recommend them as lead vocal mics, but they work well for backing vocals in not too high volume settings. Ample reviews on the www. https://www.thomann.de/gb/shure_wh20xlr.htm?glp=1
6. Up for grabs some excellent gear that unfortunately is surplus to requirement. Like all PJB gear the Bighead and H850 Headphones deliver nothing but the best tone tailored for bass. Best practice setup you can buy and a pretty mean recording interface too. Comes with all cables and plugs and is in lightly used condition. I upgraded the original PJB Bighead sleeve (which was a rag) to something more protective. Manual included, the original packaging I cannot find but I will package it very well. Shipping included. Specs: The PJB BigHead is not big at all. In fact it is barely larger than an iPhone. The "Big" is about the sound. It functions first as an awesome bass headphone amplifier with 2 band EQ ( +/- 18db @ 60 Hz and +/- 18dB @ 5KHz) set for optimization of all kinds of bass instruments. Unlike consumer electronic MP3 players and smart phones that have very small power output of around 20 milli-watt to drive headphones, the BigHead has more than 10 times the power. This contributes to a far more exhilarating listening experience with increased resolution and dynamics. Even if you are just listening to music, the BigHead will be a great improvement to your regular headphones, adding more listening pleasure. A more important function of the BigHead is being a recording tool both in digital and analog. As an Analog Digital Converter, it has the finest BURR BROWN digital components. The USB out is 48KHz 16Bit digital conversion. In other words, recording your bass onto Pro Tools will give you exactly what you wish for and absolutely nothing else. Maybe you need an analog pre amp. The Big Head can do that too. It will provide up to 12dB of gain and better than 96dB signal to noise ratio. Just use the headphone out jack to feed an amp or mixer. It has an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery that is fed by its USB jack, so any computer or appropriate cell phone charger can charge it in less than 3 hours, but it can play for up to 8 hours. Not all headphones are suitable for bass instruments. Many may sound good for casual listening, but plug them into the headphone jack of a bass amp and you will soon find their limitations. PJB H-850 headphones are the first pair designed specifically to bridge the gap between high-quality music and deep and clear bass. They are a result of years of auditioning and analyzing the mechanisms of what works best for the reproduction of music and bass. Utilizing high power 40mm neodymium magnets and closed back acoustic loading, we were able to achieve superb sound reproduction for both music and bass instruments. The H-850 are ergonomically designed with shape and materials to be lightweight so they can be worn comfortably for hours. They also have excellent acoustic isolation from external noise and headphone bleed through for recording application. After you try the H-850 you will soon realize these will be your favorite tools.
7. My Dad who passed at only 49 back in '88. Still miss him and his humour every day.
8. I played 5s exclusively but am now very much a 4 and 5 guy switching between the 2. Generally I play all the drop D stuff on the 4, as well as some standard tuning songs, the rest on the 5. Works for me!
9. I did not expect to see my old amp up for sale, but needs change so respect to you that you are giving someone else the ability to buy this Pete. The Mywatt is a beast of an amp, to date it still ranks in the best 3 amps I have ever used and is worth every penny. And buy with confidence folks, top chap to deal with.
10. I think a 40" A and D string wouldn't have particularly nice tone. B I get, E possibly still ok. Fanned Fret makes more sense to me.
11. Makes you wonder why we have to pay so much for the original.... don't get me wrong I absolutely love my B7K (and B3K before it) and Fuzz, but have always felt they were a tad on the expensive side.
12. Thomann have great customer service, I have spent a lot of money there and on the very infrequent misses (shipping, failty product etc) they always went out of their way to rectify. Must be a misunderstanding.....
13.
Sorry, this is incorrect. The Sterling/Stingray/Reflex HH and HS in 4 and 5 string have the traditional H in exactly the same spot. It is only the Bongo HH and HS that is different, (and as noted about, the 25th Anniversary HSS/Reflex HSS).
I cannot measure it as I have zero Rays nowadays, so will take your word for it.
14. How can this get no love? Incredibly well built, super sweet sounding and highly playable. 1200 quid well spent any day of the week.
15. The HH/HS versions do not have the rear pickup in the same "sweet spot" location and whilst they sound good, to me they don't sound quite like a Stingray. Same with Fender PJ models, P pickup is lightly moved forward making them a little darker. The HS I had sounded a little more tinny on back pickup, it never sounded as good as my good old 4 string H.
16. Ok, that is just stunning. GLWTS.
17. Graham bought my de Gier Bebop 5, we met face to face for the deal and besides being a solid and trustworthy gent we had a really nice talk on bass, life and lots of other things. Would deal with Graham again without hesitation! Thank you!
