1.
Grammar nazis? Worserer than apostrophe nazi's.
Tru dat - megaLOLZ
2. Paul is a great bloke to deal with. I bought a Squier body and neck off him and he went out of his way to make it as smooth and relaxed a transaction as he could. Thanks mate
3. Large jiffy bag reinforced with a piece of stiff cardboard either side of the pickguard (so pretty much the advice that's already here ). Pickguard emerged unscathed at the other end.
4. I'm not normally that keen on black basses, but I like the finish on this. How much larger are the pickup routs? What are the dimensions? Thanks.
5. If you just want to get the balance between the pickups that sounds good to you, rather than being able to adjust the blend on the fly, I would have thought that being able to adjust the heights of the pickups AND the pole pieces should allow you to get the balance you're after. Having said that, I'd never want to dissuade anyone from whipping out their soldering iron and if you do decide to go for two volumes, I'd be interested to hear how it turns out. The one mod which I did on my L2000 was to replace the 2 way series/parallel switch with a 3 way switch to give series/single coil/ parallel options. A really worthwhile mod IMO - it extends the tonal range of this versatile bass even further. In fact I use it in single coil mode most of the time.
6. I thought when I got a 5 string last summer (taking the total number of basses up to 6) that I was sorted. But I've just bought an EUB. And now I'm on the lookout for a 5 string fretless. It really is hopeless. On the plus side they do all get played
7. This is what I have on my phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gabriel.metronome&hl=en_GB
8.
Eno's largely mistaken for an ambient-only artist. His back catalog is full of great albums. Check out Before And After Science, Another Green World, Nerve Net, Another Day On Earth, Here Come The Warm Jets...
And let's not forget Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy - the only album I own to feature a typewriter solo (courtesy of Robert Wyatt).
9. So many I could choose, but I'm going with Killing Joke's first album - Killing Joke. Listened to it recently for the first time in (at least) 30 years. Still sounds as fresh and powerful as it did back then.
10. This one has just gone for £115 which is a great price. Generally I think you can expect to pay a bit more than that secondhand. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/255128-aguilar-tonehammer-l115-delivered/
11. Bought an NS NXT EUB from Tony. Very straightforward deal. Bass arrived very well packed and in great condition as stated in the ad. Another exemplary BC transaction - buy with confidence!
12.
I got the Bruford book a couple of years ago - now that is a yawnfest!

Agree about the book - a very dry read, and not in the good way.

He's a bit of a moaner isn't he ? But i find most drummers are.
I appear to be in a minority of one 😊
13.
Have you heard what Bill bruford has to say about "The Owl" in his biog ?
Got the Bruford book for Xmas - one of the most insightful books about making music that I've read. AND he writes really well. Back OT - hoping to pick up tickets for the Brighton date tomorrow.
14.
Thanks! Annoyingly the clover leaf on the D and G machine heads have started to rattle and come loose after a bit of playing. Think I might need to get a vice on them or something to squeeze the surround back into place. Currently have a pick wedged in to stop the movement.
In the past I've fixed rattling clover leaves with a spot of superglue - might do the trick in this case. Lovely looking bass in any case - good score!
15. Good on yer! Just imagine what you'll have achieved in another 4 years...
16. A book with the dots for a load of Nile and Bernard classics (including I'm Coming Out) is available to look at on Scribd: http://scribd.com/doc/220553067
17.
Belgium is hardly the centre of the musical talent ,I'm racking my brain to think of any musical talent that has emerged from that country.
dEUS
18. I think I nabbed one of the last ones - shipped on 29th December and arrived last week
