1.
The Led Zeppelin I, II & III CD remasters (early 2000s) I'm convinced there's a few tracks where Bonham's hi-hat pedal squeaks like mad
Squeaky bass drum pedal VERY audible in Since I've Been Loving You...
 2. I bought a Boss LS-2 pedal from Mark - it arrived the day after I sent payment through. Top bloke and a pleasure to do business with.
 3. Passed me by back in the 70s. Just listened to Bandstand for the very first time and really liked what I heard. Many thanks for the belated introduction.
 4.
I think Verdine struggles to play some of those lines....
5.
They were a fabulous band. I love all of their stuff and it still sounds a fresh today to me as did way back then
+1 I have a great time struggling to play some of Verdine's lines. The missus & I opened the dancefloor proceedings with Boogie Wonderland when we were wed. I busted some mighty fine moves
 6. You're welcome - good luck with your quest!

 8. I've tried both rounds and flats on my Tbird. It's currently wearing worn in D'Addario Chromes which suit it really well. Played it at a gig last month and it sounded immense. A year ago it was the only one of my basses that DIDN'T have flats on and now it's the only one that DOES.
 9.
my only criticism (small but hopefully constructive) is that the vocal is a bit weak & wavers off key,
Fair point, Norm - thanks for listening mate.
 10. A Horace Silver tune - Liberated Brother. That was back in July 1979. Here's what it sounds like when it's played properly rather than by a bunch of teenagers. http://www.youtube....ayer_detailpage
 11. Head bobs much appreciated. Cheers ☺
 12. What a great sounding band. Have you got any gigs coming up?
not only have I gone Off-Topic, I've derailed your thread, which itself is in the wrong forum - so I claim to be just as self-promoting as you are, but also have parasitical tendencies and have compounded a felony!! WOOO!!
If that doesn't deserve some kind of prize I don't know what does - good work!
 13. Thanks mate. I've got a Yamaha AW1600 - trusty old warhorse that has done sterling service over the years. I spend enough of my waking hours staring at a screen as it is, so I like having something other than a a PC or Mac based system to record on at home. I link it up with my Motif XS to give me another 16 MIDI tracks. Fun, fun, fun!
 14. Did some recording in the rehearsal studio last week with my Yamaha multitrack and was pleased with how it turned out. This is Shabberoon, the post-punk/funk 4 piece I play with. We recorded 3 songs, this is one of them: https://soundcloud.c...put-me-off-love Yes, I probably should have posted this in Recordings but then you'd never have seen it, would you? Feedback welcome, the more abusive the better
 15.
Well there's a couple of venues that we play where the bar pays a fee and then put the bucket round the audience to contribute so I guess that counts as a sort of tip.
Yeah. I sometimes play at a pub that does that too.
 16. ****IMPORTANT CAVEAT**** Naturally this doesn't mean that I won't go ahead and buy a U Retro Deluxe (5 knob model) in the not too distant future; but a little self-delusion goes a long way. 😉
 17. I recently bought a Yamaha TRB 1005 here and - as it was my first 5er - I did a bit of research when I came to restringing it. I wanted steel rounds and decided the LaBella steel rounds sounded like a good bet. The B string got good reports which I figured was pretty important. However, when I played them I found that not only was the sound darker than I was expecting from steels, but that the tonal balance across the strings was quite uneven - the B in particular sounding a lot darker. I don't think they're bad strings, but they just didn't give me the sound I wanted from this bass. I've had Elixir steels on my L2000 since last autumn and love how they play and sound - it's my go-to bass for recording - so I ordered a set with the .125 B string. I am happy to report that there is a night and day difference. The fretted notes on the B string are far clearer and there is better tonal consistency across the strings. I had been wondering whether I needed to change the preamp in this bass, but this is yet another demonstration of the huge difference that strings can make. For a quarter of the price of a John East U Retro Deluxe, my bass now sounds amazing.
 18.
I have similar on my USA Deluxe, as can be seen over there on the left
Aha! It was seeing white pearl pickguards on pre-2009 US deluxes and Roscoe Becks which convinced me that pearl/sunburst was a winning combo.
 19. So I finally decided the black pickguard on my P bass was a bit drab, so I sent the old pickguard to Martin Sims last Friday to use as a template and here's what I got back yesterday. Very pleased.
 20.
I got 10/10 but there was a couple I wouldn't have got had they not been multiple choice.
Me too.
 21.
A tiny smidgen of rattle can sound good though!
Very true ☺
 22. Not really - it's more about getting your bass to play as you want it to. In very basic terms, if the strings are rattling on the frets when you stop a string on the first 4 or 5 frets then your neck needs more relief. If you've got rattle when you fret up towards the 12th fret and beyond then you need to raise your bridge saddle(s). Adjust the relief first (if necessary) then the action.
